Sir with due respect, I feel that the way you introduced capacitors is completely wrong. Every electrical device doesn't require capacitor to start or to run. You can't take the example of a capcitor-start, capacitor run induction motor driven electrical fan and generalize it for everything. It's completely wrong. There're examples of m/c's like dc machines, synchronous m/c's which usually don't require a capacitor to start, or to run. The better way to start a capacitor would have been through the basic definition from Electric field, pot difference, charge and all. Anyways, All the best.
