ep 12 is fs one of my favorite fights, i will always love seeing yang body slam people, one of the reasons shes one of my favs is solely how often you see actual martial arts/any hand to hand combat references during her battles.
1:24 The Ironwood vs Watts fight is so fun! Visually stunning to watch, and the song is also epic. The song Hero is sung by the amazing Caleb Hyles. He has a lot of great stuff on his TH-cam channel.
27:57 I think it’s just a specific direction he’s made multiple people stay before but they were all in the same fov as him. It’s really scary that Salem knows exactly what to say to get under ironwood’s skin. Her plan all along was to take advantage of his personality and make him sacrifice everything. Next episodes going to go crazy 🔥🔥

"I will sacrifice whatever it takes to stop her." He doesn't just mean his arm. He will sacrifice the entire world, and will personally murder every single person on the planet, in order to ensure he 'wins'.
"Loyalty ALWAYS matters!" Except, Ironwood doesn't care about loyalty. He doesn't want loyalty, he wants obedience. They're not the same thing, but obedience is all he cares about, and anyone who isn't mindlessly obedient can die as far as he's concerned.
I never understood how people could be surprised with the Ironwood 'twist'. He was like this way back in Volume 2, where he acted like HE was the only one allowed to make decisions, to the point where he was actively working against Ozpin because Ozpin wasn't blindly going along with his every whim. He's never been a 'good guy', he's always been a dictator - though Volume 7 did do a good job of making him seem redeemable at first, it was not a surprise that he ended up being an enemy.
Same. If someone has the time, there should be a video of all Ironwood focused scenes where it shows "Red Flag" moments. They seemed to be ignored by some.

Exactly. That's what I don't understand. Bad writing is MLB (Miraculous Ladybug) and yes RWBY does have it's moments but Ironwood is not one of them 😅
He always had this character flaw, it's just amped up now

Does the Ironwood/Watts fight have Monty's fingerprints on it? We know he had Adam/Yang planned years in advance, and this is *so good.* My only problem is Watts' motivation. Would you fake your death and join Salem just because Ironwood chose someone else's project instead of yours? It was a secret project, why is his disgrace so public? There was obviously supposed to be more. My headcanon is that he abused the new soul tech, ran experiments - probably on faunus - and had to fake his death to avoid capture.
After their first fight, Qrow uses Tyrian's weakness against unarmed combat to full effect. It's all going to plan... and then it turns. Cinder follows Winter to the maiden, just like she did Pyrrha. Ironwood cracks, and turns, and it is so well done. I also liked the musical callback to the Aliens soundtrack when Ruby has her meltdown.
A shame it all goes to shit.
The fight on the tundra is the stupidest thing in the entire show. Robyn's pissed she's not on the arrest list, agrees with the *homical maniac that slaughtered her supporters,* and starts a fight. Qrow tries to talk the ace op down instead of Robyn, then joins in anyway, then joins forces with the *homicidal maniac that nearly killed him the first time they met.* The ace op, team leader and supposed strategist, keeps trying to detain Qrow instead of prioritizing the *homicidal maniac working for Salem.* And guess what: the homicidal maniac is an idiot too, for not killing Robyn while she's down. And to top it all off, the final blow surprised us because of a 'camera' angle; Qrow should've seen it coming. Such a low bar for team RWBY's fight to hop over.
The icing on the cake: Oscar lands the most telegraphed punch in the show, on *Neo* of all people. He was supposed to come around the nearest corner, not the farthest. Another animation oopsie; if I've got the timing correct, they can blame covid and working from home.
So yeah, this chapter made me so much angrier than Weiss getting herself skewered. There's no better proof that, without Monty's direction, the writers don't know how to reach these plot points.
When Oscar told Ironwood about Salem, he said "I thought it was time you knew", he neglected to mention that Ruby had also decided to trust him, so that contributed to his anger too.
