Totally understand why Jacob Elordi would want to play a meaty role like Nate Jacobs. However, you can't tell me that that kind of roll & character doesn't mess with an actor's head. Hope he's careful. Also, there is nothing wrong with playing a healthy character like Noah Flynn who truly loved & cared for Elle, enough to let her go. He wanted her to grow. If anything, what this sick world needs right now are more Noah Flynns. Whether Mr. Elordi likes it or not, people watch films, shows, and many try to pattern their real lives after characters. Whether they like it or not, actors are role models to malleable minds. Hope Mr. Elordi balances his hurting, sick Nate Jacob's character with more positive role models for young men. Kids are watching.
If someone uses film characters as their role model, it’s their own fault. Not the fault of the actors or the industry. And it’s a +18 rated drama show about late teenager problems, what do you expect?

People should be careful about who they follow. And not only teenagers, even total grownups are out there too who are known to imitate characters that they just recently got entirely “fascinated” by, after a movie or a TV show they've watched or some books they've read. But showmakers should really be careful about what type of audience they're deliberately meaning to target. And I've known so many kids watching this show even though not meeting the age-criteria, just because they have it labelled as “drama involving lives of highschoolers.”
Based on how passionate he does his acting career I think he definitely knows what he’s doing. He literally keeps journals of his characters so that he can study them.
