First they said that Darrel was recovering just fine from his heart attacks and made a comeback on the show. Then later showed him holding a sign, broke, asking for money and mistakenly called him Barry Weiss. Up until toward the end of the video I thought the narrator did a good job, and used creative descriptions of the characters.
I always thought that show seemed too good to be true. Those guys weren't like Rick Harrison or Les Gold. Those people had no idea what they were spending their money on during an auction. Sometimes they never made a profit. I'm pretty sure every person on that show would be almost bankrupt by now if they had not been making money as a celebrity on the show. Dave Hester was earning $25,000 from every episode of Storage Wars. He also owns an auction house. He's worth $4 million now. I'm sure most of that money came from the Storage Wars episodes. There were 339 episodes of Storage Wars.

About Dave's lawsuit about the units being staged. I liked watching storage wars but it was totally staged. It was obvious cause when they opened the units the box companies were either blurred out or taped over. Even boxes in the back of the units sometimes had tape over the company name. The only way they could've done that was when they were putting the boxes in there for the show. It made me LMFAO cause it was obvious what company the boxes were from. Also none of the episodes had any units with personal stuff in them. I've bought abandoned storage units as a hobby. There's personal stuff in all the units I've bought. Another clear sign the units are staged for the show.
They have to blurr out any brands so they don't have any legal issues.

The first storage unit show I saw was "Auction Hunters" Two partners going around buying units and of course, 90% of the units were GREAT. A funny thing is it seemed like 9 / 10 units had GUNS in them. Granted they would have bought stinkers and just edited them out. I don't remember seeing anything about what happened to these guys after the show.

Didn't Darrel have a house full of goodies he showed off in one show? The whole problem with collectables is they are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them. Could be $1000.00 today and next to nothing tomorrow. You collect for years and now you need some money. So naturally no one wants whatever you have at the price you want to sell at. But still the show is still on the air doesn't he get residuals for that even if not paid for new shows? The show hasn't been off very long. If he is hard up it must be his own fault.
They said at first that he was making a comeback after his heart problem recovery, and then at the end said he was broke, although mistakenly called him Barry Weiss, not matching the photo of Darrel.

Thinking of what is in my own storage unit I can't say they were all staged bad.
I mean I thought they would find too many safes, but I think my unit has my brothers in it now. I'm not positive because my other brother and nephew put most of the things in there, from my mother's house. Mom never had a lot. And most of what she left is in there. I am curious what the unit could bring at auction? Not that I want to find out.
