Scott Jaz You need to travel to see unexpected beauty in unexpected places. I do not know what country you live in, but I believe , you believe that country is the center of the world.

Tatarstan is for 500 years is fighting for its independence from russian occupation. Tatarstan has referendum of 1992 recognized by international law when 61% of all inhabitants of Tatarstan voted for independence from Russian Federation, but Moscow did not let us go. I am sure there will come time when Tatarstan will become independent and we will restore our statehood as Jewish people did with state of Israel!

Don't lie, the Tatars never truly fought for their independence, like Chechnya or Dagestan, and in the 90s they just peacefully raised this issue and themselves refused it (realizing all the senselessness of this venture). And how you imagine it? The Republic, which located in the center of Russia (inside its territory) and with 50% of ethnic Russian population - сan it be an independent state? In addition, for 500 years were formed strong cultural, historical, political and economic ties between the two peoples, which is already impossible to break.

I agree with you jakuts, kazakhs etc. are real turks and kazakhstan, jakutia etc. belong to turkish peoples but what are we going to do with turkey turks?? wasn't turkey the land of the greeks, armenians, aramaeic people, kurds etc.? Turkey turks themselves are slavs, kurds, greeks etc. in a mix with maybe 2% central asian touch! But if you think you are a real turk me I think you are 98% non-turk than go to jakutia!

Kazan is the most LGBT tollerance city in Russia.

flatronov God I hope that’s not true! I’m counting on Tatarstan to be every bit as intolerant towards sexual perversion as the rest of Russia. It’s one of the many things that make Russia great.
