My Marine ROTC unit in college did a 24 hour runathon for charity. Most of the Marines did 20-30 miles (running in 3 mile increments and resting) during the 24 hour period. (There was also some drinking.) I thought I was a bad-ass doing 44 miles. Our former RECON Gunnery Sergeant ran 66 miles in 24 hours! He was a STUD. Still, Dixie, you are a bad-ass. We weren't humping a rucksack. You are AWESOME.
Now don't go giving her any challenges. 62 miles is beyond awesome and beats 66 because she was carrying her backpack plus +3 liters of water while doing it. Here's to people telling her she'll never make it !
deborah gracie I think the one that said she'd never get there was a lesson. I'm glad Dixie thought about it a long time. Some people live with that sort of talk all too often. I know people mean well when they tell me about diabetes.
There's an event taking place once a year at which you can walk 50, 80 or 100 km. You start at 9am and reach the end at about 2am or so, depending on how much time you need. While you don't have to carry much with you and there's food every 20 kilometers, I allways did it completely unprepared (twice even with a hangover). It just hurts but is doable. But I allways took the next two days off. After 100km, I'm barely able to walk home.
I love how happy you are during this challenge! No moaning just positivity and look what you achieved!! Incredible you are awesome!!! Your will power and mental strength is fabulous!!!
Holy cow! 62 miles!! Congratulations, you crazy woman! Well done. Hope you got some extra sleep afterwards. Wish you could share this with the guy who said you had to change course last time and that you wouldn't make it if you didn't. Ha! Obviously he did not know who he was talking to. Thank you so much for taking the time to set up the camera for us all so we could see you on the trail. To do that when you were exhausted is going above and beyond. I know they say that sometimes you have to suffer for your art, but that takes it to a whole 'nuther level. It is appreciated!
that was amazing! so impressed with your positive attitude and humility . . . worrying about viewers being intimidated with you mentioning 16 to 20 mile days! then offering encouragement. fantastic.
Dix, how's it feel to have the best channel on youtube? I think even US special forces units would be highly impressed with 62 miles in one day, across that terrain, with a pack. Yer a beast!
Most special forces couldn't do it because they're not as acclimated to covering long distances on foot as she is when this far into a thru-hike. At that stage she's become a specialist. The special forces need to be spreading their attributes wider and couldn't do the same without the same kind of specialty acclimation.
This is my top favorite episode of the PCT Hike videos. The whole Triple Crown Trilogy is awesome, I just love how happy and proud you are at getting over 60 miles in just 24 hours. Congratulations Dixie, you inspire so many!
I rarely comment on videos but OMG girl. 62 miles! Unfreakingbelivable. You have heart. As a former Marine and current backpacker...OH-RAH!! Wow, wow, wow, wow and another wow. What determination! Nothing short of amazing!!
Congratulations on 62 mile!!! That is amazing!!! Love you videos. Still love the fact that you enjoy and film things most people will never even see. I wish your videos were closer to where you actually are on trail. Thanks for taking time to take us with you. I always look forward to the next video.
Dixie, I was cheering you on the whole way as I watched. Excited for you that you completed the challenge in a BIG 62 mile kind of way (and that you still had the time to enjoy the creatures along the way). So cool.
Go Dixie Go! 62 miles... You are a MACHINE. Congrats on the monumental accomplishment. Love your vids. Followed you every step on the AT (watched many vids multiple times) and every step thus far on the PCT. Love it! Keep on keeping on.
Very awesome Jessica, with pack and carrying your own water over trail rocks and tree roots. I have been following your PCT journey with joy as a break from the daily job coma. You impress me when you step out of your comfort zone to push on.
I have watched several of your episodes now, all very impressive... but this... You truly inspire awe. I can't imagine 24 hours of continuous hiking, let alone 62 miles in that time. Astonishing and magnificent accomplishment, you are all heart... steadfast and resolute. It is easy to tell you are a good friend... all who know you are fortunate people. Thank you for sharing your adventure with us mere mortals.
Amazing!!! Dixie you rock! 62 miles in one day. I did a 9.5 mile hike on Saturday and I'm not going to lie, I was tired at 7.5. I thought about you and was inspired. Thank you!
OMG! You ROCK! I am not getting any work done at home... Sitting here binge watching your PCT videos. Love them. Well done, well edited & interesting. Thank youl.
I just can't praise your videos enough. This series is just so magical and inspiring. Also, you guys are machines for being able to do a challenge like that. I'm trying to imagine how many times I would throw up trying to hike that much. 31 really snuck up on me...should probably get back in shape lol.
Dixie 62!!!!! Well ... I have been following your adventure since you took the first mile, and love every one of your videos. Inspiring and so real.. but guess what? This is the one for the record. Keep the amazing adventure going. Enjoy every step as you are, and thanks so very much for sharing. Many of us, obviously :) are into backpacking, hiking and all, personally I am with my 2 kids and hubby... and the following somebody with such passion is just a reinforcement to continue growing the miles with them. Hard work you are doing, indeed! but what a memory you will have for ever. Cheers to you, and thanks for sharing with all again the fun
That's wonderful that there are people to bring water and snacks for hikers on the trail. What an endurance test. You are the best. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome effort! Your AT series inspired me and I just got back from a 4 day out and back during which I averaged less than 10 miles a day. So your 60+ is nearly unimaginable. Well done and thanks for taking us along. Cheers.
So proud of you Dixie! My wife was upstairs and heard me react (loudly🤣) when you said you reached the 60 mark! Unbelievable! There's certainly a little stubbornness and competitive spirit in you, which is what you need for a task like that! Can't wait till next Wed to hear how you feel after this one.
You are SO freaking bad ass! My kids and I watch your videos and you are very inspirational to all of us. Congrats on 62 miles! That is pretty darn epic!
There are thousands of us viewing your video, that feel like we know you. How cool is that? More than a few times I've had tears come to my eyes, watching this PCT series. Well done.
Love this Jessica! I hiked a little of the AT in PA this past weekend and thought, I'm walking where Jessica once was! Love your videos and following along on the PCT
That is an insane amount of mileage for a human to do in 1 day. Especially carrying the weight and dealing with the climate and terrain. Congratulations!
62 miles, an amazing feat! I love that you left the footage of Dixie walking back to pick up the camera absolutely exhausted. This girl is unstoppable! Keep on trekkin' Dixie!
Dixie, you are a freak, I mean freakin awesome. 62 miles is unimaginable. I just did my first overnight on the AT. It was just a 20 mile out and back (10+10) and it was in doubt that I would make it back to the truck. I seriously am in awe of you as you continue to inspire a lot of people!
Doesn't get more inspiring than this. 62 miles of hiking with that pack, through uneven terrain, in 24 hours, mostly on your own, including through the night, after already logging 1300+ miles of the PCT, is absolutely insane. Amazing.
Early_Riser_71 i'm so glad you saw this video. When you start your motivational series you should have her as a guest speaker one day. You two are the most motivating people I have ever run across. Both of y'all are truly amazing!
Dixie, you are one of the toughest hikers i have ever watched,to be your age and that kind of physical condition, i can only dream of. I love watching your videos and seeing those awesome sights. Thanks you rock!!!
ya freakin hooo! i was impressed when jawnzee and neemor did 50s, more impressed when chocolate bals did 60, but you just blew the doors off of all of them!! congrats!
thank you....watching your hike has reminded me there are still kind and decent people in the world. You are an inspiration. Doug Stevenson, Duluth, MN
You are amazing! Congrats to 62 miles and thank you for info/contact about Czech guy, it's nice to watch and inspire with a few thruhikers from my country.
OMG I actually teared up I was so excited for you!!! Now treat yourself to some rest. I watch all your videos and look forward to each new one. I'm 71 and hope to do some short legs of the AT since I live just north of Atlanta. I know I'll never get to the PCT so your videos are my armchair thru hike...lol.
I am so proud & amazed that anyone can do that many miles! Sweet Jesus... I pray you got lots of rest. You are so strong... I have to go back & watch again. You make me stronger. God bless you young lady. Love & peace.👍🙏🙏🙏I think of you every day & pray you are safe! I am just in all of what you have done! 😀
You Dixie, are one heck of a woman/hiker! 😃 I've been binge watching your PCT videos, this one is just of many of your videos that's just so inspiring! Keep doing what you're doing, and be safe!
You've got roughly 5 to 6 weeks until Monument 78. 2 Wk forecast in WA is no snow or rain, might be cold at night. This will probably hold for 2 wks beyond that. YOU'VE GOT THIS - even with going through the Sierras. Keep it up and know you'll see the Border!
Holy Crapamoley ! 60 miles !! Proud of you. Happy to let you know my 14 y/o daughter is inspired by your journey and now tells me not to watch any new episodes unless she is there.
Amazing! I'm in Europe so I'm counting km instead and you did exactly 100km! The most I ever managed were 90km (should be around 56 miles) but now I want to get the 100km mark as well! Thank you so much for all the bread content, it has been super motivating. Take care of yourself and all the best for the rest of your journey!
That guy who said you would never make it had no idea he was talking to someone who can walk 62 amazing miles...with a smile.
Was awesome meeting you. Wish you could have seen the look on your face when I gave you that Starbucks via coffee. 62 miles just amazing.
mike miller you guys rock!!
That was awesome Mike, I'm sure You really made Her Day! Nice to see there are so many good people, and You're one of them. Be Well always! :)
Well done, trail angel...
Trail Angels should have their own special club! You guys rock!
Well Done 👏👏💚💚👌

M.D. Privett she's making us men look like softies, I love it

And she's still smiling and energetic, after walking over 50 miles with a heavy backpack. She is insanely strong and fit.

My husband overheard part of this video and said "wow, 20+ miles?" To which I replied, "oh she's still going". You are amazing.
"Sleep depriven" 😂

GET IT GIRL!! I was on the edge of my seat cheering you on!! 62 miles, you're such a badass.

For the rest of the world, you walked 100 km in 24h, and that's quite amazing!
How can anyone give these videos a thumbs down? Especially this one. Dixie you are amazing. I'm loving watching you walk this trail. x

Yaaay! Can't believe there are people from the Czech Republic on the trail! Hopefully I'll increase the number by 2019 or 20. :)
Have you? ;)

The smell released from the earth at the start of rain is called petrichor. It happens when the earth opens to receive the rain and oils seep out.
Also the name of a Phish song

You Dixie, are one heck of a woman/hiker! 😃 I've been binge watching your PCT videos, this one is just of many of your videos that's just so inspiring! Keep doing what you're doing, and be safe!
You've got roughly 5 to 6 weeks until Monument 78. 2 Wk forecast in WA is no snow or rain, might be cold at night. This will probably hold for 2 wks beyond that. YOU'VE GOT THIS - even with going through the Sierras. Keep it up and know you'll see the Border!

Amazing! you basically doubled your previous record that is incredible. So inspiring
How did you text with your trail friends? Did you have reception? Incredible accomplishment, very inspiring.
You must feel so connected to nature. I admire your strength to take on this journey.
So glad I found this channel. This and John Zahorian's channels are two of the best on TH-cam.
Congratulations on the 62 miles! Thanks for the videos, Dixie!
Nice job on the 62 miles. I love Chester. We go to the Lake there every year on vacation.

Congratulations! That is epic! Dixie in BEAST MODE!
YOU GO GIRL!!!!!! THAT IS AMAZING CONGRATULATION!!!!
Was the geyser/not-geyser around 8:30 supposed to be a Twin Peaks reference? I got strong David Lynch/Angelo Badalamenti vibes!
I couldn't stop watching. This was so great. You are a machine!
Are you using any type of inserts in your Altras other than what they come with?
Amazing! I'm in Europe so I'm counting km instead and you did exactly 100km! The most I ever managed were 90km (should be around 56 miles) but now I want to get the 100km mark as well!
I am currently hiking a section of the E4 in Greece, but it's only a 15 day section. Because of your videos I am planing on doing the pct in 2020. Thank you so much for all the bread content, it has been super motivating. Take care of yourself and all the best for the rest of your journey!
