Duane Allman and Dickey were the best combo lead guitarists ever. Love that band. RIP Dickey.

When I first heard this song in '72 within 10 seconds it became my favorite song. 52 years later it never lost that status.

My father has always said, The Allman Brothers were the best band from the States. They created a music many tried to duplicate, and couldn't to the extent that this group of 6 musicians played together so well, and felt where each one was going, it was purely magic.

My go to song, a mixture of rock, blues, jazz & a bit of soul. Not damn thing wrong with it. RIP Dickey, thank you. Jim

The Allmans were one of my favourites. I was fortunate to have seen them many times at the Beacon Theatre in NYC, but it was the recent lineup without Dickey. I saw Dickey play with them once in the 80s when I was in my late 20's. am 65 and was 13 when Duane Allman died. I bought two of their records, Live at the Filmore and Eat a Peach, at first and then most of the rest. Dickey wrote some great tunes beside this one. Blue Sky might be my favourite Betts song. Very sad day. RIP Dickey.

Musical perfection! Glad you mentioned Berry Oakley. So many people don’t. One of the best bass players ever. I actually attended Berry’s final performance with the ABB at my college on Nov 2, 1972. Nine days later he was killed in the accident.

I'm glad you mentioned bassist Berry Oakley- perhaps the most overlooked rock bassists ever. He was a wizard, and the members of ABB worked perfectly together.

And they were all only in their 20's when this was recorded . To be that accomplished at such a young age 😲!!

Dickey had an incredible feel for melodies. Duane Allman was one of a kind, his solo after the organ solo.

I'm 67, and the first time I saw them live was just after Duane passed. Bassist Berry Oakley was still with them, but was also killed later that year. I turned 15 at 12:00. They put on a show for the ages, as if they had something to prove. Like "We're still here. We ain't going anywhere!"..This here is my favorite track by them..A masterpiece!..Chris, sorry man, but I just fell in love with your wife, because I never knew another woman who really appreciated this piece like she did! Smile getting bigger, as the song went on..She's keeper!..First time sub..Loved the reaction to my all time favorite song.

When I was a mere lad at high school, no one breathed a word about the Allman Brothers and then I heard Jessica. I was intrigued. A few years later a blues cover band had a regular gig at the varsity I attended and played a few AB tracks. I became a fan. This tune was possibly one of those covers. A brilliant band with more than its share of tragedies. Thank you.

While the two guitar marriage gets all the attention you can't ignore how Berry Oakley is climbing all over that bass.

Story goes that Betts wrote in the same cemetery where Duane, Barry and Gregg are now buried. He didn't have a title, bur, to his right was a stone ...In Memory of Elizabeth Reed.

Dickey & the late Tom Verlaine are the two guitarists cited by Nels Cline ( Wilco ) as his major influences. Nels is generally regarded as the best contemporary guitar player in the biz these days. Check Impossible Germany especially live for proof.
