Thanks!!! The SRR looks great out the box, but better with some mods/upgrades. Batteries are EXPENSIVE and I’m working my way up to a set so I can maiden this rig!!!
I had the same issue with the set screws on two of my 4 axles. I drilled through the overtightened/locked one on the front axle, and then replaced the rear stub axle that had the set screw stuck inside. These set screws are hardened steel. They will eat drill bits for breakfast, and also chew up your hex drivers! Ultimately, I decided not to use the set screws at all after converting to the 24mm hubs.
It’s unfortunate, but good to know that I’m not the only one! I was pissed!!! Was sure I had jacked up my SRR before I even had a chance to take her for a spin!
@@JSinistaProductions I had that same problem when doing the 24mm conversion on my cen reeper. I was super careful and got 3 done and on my 4th and final one it stripped! So yeah I had to do the same and drill it out. What did you do about holding the pin in? Luckily on my new ones they come with a heavy O-ring that goes over the pin.
I don't imagine those tires would last a full throttle run. I've found the Super Rock Rey to be the most powerful 8s stock system I've ever found in a RC. I recall a full throttle blip with a little bit of water in one of the stock tires and it came apart with the sound of a gunshot. It might not be the fastest 8s RC, but it definitely has more torque than at least 99% on the market. I can't attest to the V2 as I've only ever owned the V1 with the Dynamite fuze 160 Amp and 750kv motor. I can say for sure it has a lot more power than the system that comes in the stock 8s Outcast and other 8s RCs. I might even put the power output close to that of the stock 32cc engine that comes in the 5ive T. I do have all three I mentioned so it is very easy for me to compare. Anyways, the SRR has got to be my favorite electric RC. Only 2nd to the 5ive T which is gas. Still only 32cc, but has power upgrades on it in the form of pipe, intake velocity stack and a large high flow air filter. I'm considering a stroker kit for it and putting on a bigger carb. I think it's a 1213 or something, can't remember off the top of my head. Stock carb is the 1107.
I love to hear your positive review on this truck as I recently came across another huge score Lane....I had a old hpi baja 5t that wasn't running and most likely needed a good amount of work that my neighbor had on the street thrown away. (Crazy I know right) so I gave it a bath in simple green and cleaned it up nicely but couldn't get it running. So after it had been collecting dust and taking up room I put it on offerup for trade or make a cash offer well a guy offered me 300$ but I saw he had a super rock rey in good condition for sale so I ended up trading him the baja 5t I got for free, a losi 22st 1/10 2wd ST and a 3s lipo for the super rock Rey! It has the dynamite system too! It also came with a 120$ savox servo in it! I took it all apart and cleaned it top to bottom with a toothbrush even though it wasn't that dirty or beat on but has definitely been used. I can't wait to run it after reading your comment even more now lol. I just finished painting the rims black to clean them up a bit. It was a crazy score considering I'm just in it for the 22st and a 3s lipo lol. Hey I noticed that the front wheels are toed out a little bit stock with the links in all the way. Is that pretty normal? Thanks Lane. Can't believe I scored the 1/5th upgraded dbxle and now the SRR lol. 2 big boys for sure!
@@cwatson42785 Sounds like a pretty balanced deal. Neither of you lost any money. The toe out is normal and as long as its got the original links it will actually make it handle and turn better than if their were straight. Im not a big fan of toe out but this RC needs it. I just dont like it because it typically tears the tires up on the inside edges, but the SRR doesnt do that. I would recommend running it on 6s first as it is absolutely bonkers until you get used to the handling. If you never had a solid axle RC, it handles a lot different than independent suspension RCs. Just sheck the rear upper links to see if they are stretched (axle will shift side to side pretty far pretty easy), if they are stretched replace them. Make sure the tires are vented too because tires for it arent cheap. Other than that, i think it was a balanced deal like i said.
@@SebastianLong Thanks Lane, yeah they are the original links. I'm gonna get the aluminum spindles too as I heard that was a must have upgrade for this truck. Yeah I had the small 1/10 rock rey that I wish I never got rid of. I wasn't a fan of how the solid rear axle would drive but I didn't give it a chance and drive it long enough. I regret selling that and not getting used to how it drove differently. Yeah I think it was a fair deal for both of us, only reason that makes it a great deal for me is having picked up the older baja 5t out the garbage essentially. Can't wait to try it out. Was gonna go straight to 8s but I'll take your advice and try 6s for the first runs. Thanks for the advice!
@@cwatson42785 Honestly, the SRR runs pretty damn good on 6s but i currently only have 4s packs that fit in the battery compartment and running it on 4s doesnt get the wheel speed to keep it level in the air otherwise id run it on 4s. Ive tried one of my buddies 6s packs, was powerhobby if not mistaken, but on 6s it was nearly perfect. Just need a jumper if only using one pack, if using two packs dont even worry about it.
Thank you. Made them myself. Bought some aluminum sheet from Lowes, made some templates from cardboard and cut the aluminum with a rotary tool. Bought some vinyl wrap and the rest is history.
Hey Sinista. Love the look. I did this too but found the drive wasn't as good. It raised the centre of gravity even if I dropped the suspension. What did you think? I ended up going back to the stock wheels and tires. The drive was to tippy if you know what I mean. I do love the look! Keep up the good work my man.
@@JSinistaProductions that's a shame. She is good fun to drive. I am trying to keep my upgrades practical so that there is some performance reason. Check out my channel for some stuff. Bad editing as I am so busy.
@@JSinistaProductions Why!! Just why!! That thing is too much of a bad boy to have never ran brotha. Get it out in some dirt and live a little lol. Now I can appreciate why you did it as I tend to do more buying than bashing and I have a bunch of trucks on the shelf only run a couple times or none at all. I just think you would have too much fun running it over looking at it. Plus when it gets some dirt and scares on it it might be a better looking shelf queen lol.
Hi I appreciate your tutorials on the upgrades to your super rock Rey, I did have a question I bought mine 3 weeks ago and I noticed that when I accelerate the rear right side dips down causing the left tired to lift up and the vehicle to go left, sis you experience this with your? IV already gotten new springs from losi and replaced the shock oil with slightly thinker weight and still the same issue I didn't know if this was normal or some I would have to send back to horizon, thanks
Thanks for checking us out! To be honest, I haven’t even ran this rig yet. I’ve been bouncing between this, the Trailrunner and the Aeroscout. I’ll do some research to see if I can find anyone else who’ve had similar issues as yours. If I find something, I’ll get back with you here!
That's what this truck does. It's a solid rear axle with tons of power. That's called torque twist and that's why alot of the guys use a little avc with their trucks. But that's totally normal. Are you driving it on road or offroad?
Trust and believe, I made them Patna. Appreciate your comment, but the work I did is seriously amateur at best and a pain in the ass with just a Dremel.

Hello Could you give me the references and where to order the options for the Super Rock Rey, cdt Patrick
Was looking for some hex upgrades and guess who video I came across. My brother J. Thanks for sharing brother 💪
That’s what’s up!!! Just knowing kats are able to use these vids for their projects is worth more to me than gold!!!
Nice one. Thanks for the connection.
No sweat!!! Appreciate ya!
Puttin new "shoes" on the rock rey!
👍🏾. Upgraded wheels/tires on the SRR make a world of difference!
That’s one good looking truck

Nice upgrades man and editing of video.. Great job
Thanks! I’m getting better in my production skills as I upload more videos!
@@JSinistaProductions That's for sure, not only you my man, everybody getting skills through time. :D
That looks fantastic!
Thanks!
So 😎 cool keep up the good work
Thanks! I really need to pull this off the shelf and get a run in, but she's so clean it's hard to!!!
Nice work
Thanks! I appreciate that!
That thing looks bad ass bro.. cheers for the tips.. running 1/5 65kg rofun servo in my one. Made a massive difference
Nice, changing up those wheels and tires gives it al altogether new look.
that is badass... I have those wheels I was gonna put them on a dbxle but never bought the truck
😊
very interesting
damn I like this 🔥
Missed your comment. Playing catchup. Thanks.
I like this!!!!
Appreciate that fam!
Very nice!!! How do those do on 8s power? The tires.
So, I ashamed to admit it, but I haven't even ran it at all. Unfortunately she turned into a shelf queen while I moved into other rigs.
