JoesGE.com is a pretty cool place (depending who you talk to it might be more than pretty cool. But hey, I'm just writing this down so that it says something down here, because that's more professional right?) and if you're still reading along at this point you might as well sit down and grab some popcorn because this is about to trail on about how we are this premiere repair service located in Washington State North of Seattle in basically the "Armpit of the US" near Mt Baker (Mt Baker has the world record for most snowfall at 1,140 inches in a season). Even though it can smell bad around here we love the fresh air and being near the post office and in a quiet sleepy mountain town certainly gives us much closer access to Team Turtle and Team Beaver (Watch our "Who, what, when and where is JoesGE?" video if you don't get the reference).
All this to basically say that we are all addicted to coffee and stay in the warehouse for ridiculously long hours in order to keep up with the demands of the youth for these two-sided head audio devices and speakers that float when you throw them in the ocean or in your bathtub to test if they actually float. On top of that, we do like it when less stuff ends up in landfills so we hoard everything on shelves with wheels so that we pollute less, it just sits in our warehouse losing molecules slowly over time degrading to become smaller and smaller.
If you are still reading at this point you deserve an award, or a high five, or something because you must either be the most patient person on the planet, or you read blogs frequently. And if the latter is the case, then this whole thing must seem pretty short so let's keep going.
We do some really interesting things here at JoesGE which are frequently documented in our sometimes weekly sometimes never vlogs.
Also, if you are wondering how we keep up with the demands of the people so well, its because 90% of the people that work here are all Russian around getting things done most of the time. Yes, that was a pun, you are welcome. We hope you have a pun-filled day, because who couldn't use a few laughs?

Great tutorial. If anyone doesn't want to de-solder/solder the wire, if you melt all of the glue sticking the speaker wire to the casing, you can pull the wire through and get enough slack to work around it/remove the 4 screws.

Hey, how do you get the metal cover off at the top end of the inner cover? The one that you don't show in this video, because it's already removed when you start and you don't replace it at the end. It covers the top end of the inner cover. I can't figure out how to get it off and don't want to break the outer cover doing it!

Which side up should the pin connections be inserted into the board? Shiny side up or shiny side down? In this video, it seems that the top pin is inserted shiny side up, and the right and bottom pins shiny side down. However, I might be wrong.

The inside panel does not slide back on. My only problem is that for some reason the inside panel became slightly pried open at the top near the hinge so the earpiece hangs. Nothing wrong with the hinge or anything but couldn't get it back together. I also can't see anything wrong with the inside panel. It seemed like we should have just been able to clip it back together, but no go. So I took it apart per instructions up to minute 12 of this video. But when it comes time to "slide" that inner piece over the outside it simply does not go. It doesn't even seem like it EVER fitted over the slide guides in the first place. The grooves on the inner piece are just way smaller than the slide guides on the outer side. Does this make any sense?

  • @GigiLepew
    @GigiLepew 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Easy to follow instructions and changed the inner panel no problems without desoldering. But they are now dead. No sound even when wired (there was about 60 % charge when I changed the panel. . The power button has a dim glowing light when unplugged. Pressing the power button does nothing. Plugged in to charge and there is a current to the battery (as seen with usb voltmeter) so the battery is charging but no typical charging lights. Headphones were powered off before changing. Any idea what happened?

    • @Joesge

Thanks for the video. I followed yesterday and also changed the outside panel. It all seemed to work fine, but this morning, the speaker started clicking randomly and with static for a few seconds at various times. @alexthesloth8873 Did you get any reply? I also have a similar problem (I hear NO sound at all) and also thin that I either soldered poorly, a connector got out of the green board or I inserted the 3 connectors the in wrong side.

@@WilliamGone Well it seems that I accidentally detached the small connector box from the green board because when I pushed it down, it started playing but when I released it, it stopped playing. First, I attempted to press it by additional item (a piece of rubber eraser) because I couldn't glue it's bottom where all connections were. However, the piece of rubber slided away one day and now it doesn't play again. Well, at least I know now what's wrong with it and how to solve it (or the entire structure of these headphones). Finally, I had to buy brand new Beats Studio Pro recently because it took too much time to repair (disassemble and reassemble) everything on my own.

Geez this seems complicated. My little one threw my Beats on the floor and cracked my panels, inside and outside panels on both sides. So I need all 4 replaced but it's cheaper to just buy new ones then pay Apple to fix. I figured I would do it myself but there is soooo much to it. And I've replaced plenty of things before like LCD screens and non removable phone batteries so I'm not a noob lol. But yikes this is a pain in the butt.

Have you ever experienced a problem that causes the left speaker to go out intermittently, i thought it was a loose connection or damaged wire, tore down both sides and could not find any loose or broken wires, (didn't go through the jacketed portion of the headband though)... i've heard this is common, a little bummed given that these headphones cost $350

And could you make a video about how to avoid breaking you headphones? I honestly don’t even know why this happened. I think it may have to do with the way I take them off.

im gtting so pissed off i bought a $250 cheap plastic headphones, seriously wish i couldve felt them before buying them. Just holding them feel cheap.
    I have now fixed:
    - New Pads since the old ones were peeling
    - Band snapped when my wife stood up and had them on her thigh
    - When i replaced the band i screwed in crooked, It snapped the band AGAIN, at the screw hole
    - LOST THE FUCKING SCREW, HAD to order another from china
    - They cracked in the inner housing, eventually they are now snapped in half reason why im looking this up
    - Since the inner housing snapped the outer housing was supporting the bend which is NOW CRACKED ALSO.....
    Total in repairs... :
new pads $15, TWO bands $45, $15 SCREW LOL, $20 inner housing and if i dont stop using them until i fix them $20 for the outer housing. and now i broke the ring outer sticker to get to the screws
ffs. my brother in law was some nice ones, look like theyre wireless and metal feel good too. im never buying beats again. its just the "look" that they give is amazing but theyre far to fragile and all ive been using them is at my desk... the most basic of tasks ever and they sucked.
