Car won't start after fueling up. FIX! (Almost) Purge Solenoid replacement 2008 Cadillac SRX.

- Regretfully this did not entirely solve the problem. Yes, all of the symptoms such as stalling after fueling up did stop but 2 weeks after I published this repair video the engine light came back on with the sane error codes. Still have not found a solution, if you do, please let me know in the comments. Thanks!

We experienced the same. I found it was a series of sensor failures. I had strong crank no start. Crank Position and all four cam position sensors are next to be replaced.
I have an 2009 srx and was wondering if it would be in the same place also?

Cool I’m glad it helped, it was a weird problem. 64 Cad is mine and the black 2008 SRX is the wife’s. Mine needs a bit more work, I’ll make some videos on it too when I can.
How about Cadillac srx 2008 won't start and I scanned show U0101 so what I can do about it?
I have a 2005 Cadillac SRX code. Reader says bad solenoid do you know how much that would be to fix?
which codes? there are many solenoids in a car.
Mine was making a ticking noise and I’m pretty sure it was throwing a p0455 code

The light went out but the code is still stored. Driving to run the diagnostic for the purge valve will clear the code and turn the light off.
The hood ajar switch prevents remote start for safety reasons similar to having to remotely have to lock the doors first

Ok, you know what you are talking about. Do you know what could cause my gas gauge to register for a few moments after I pull the terminals. Then it shows empty, is this a sensor issue?
Hi Chris, I’m no expert here. What do you mean by pull the terminals? If the gauge at least moves for a moment I’d strongly suspect the fuel level sensor, since the gauge is obviously operational. Before purchasing a new sensor I would at least locate it and check that the plug is attached properly and isn’t corroded or damaged in anyway.
@@cagroundhog I unplug the battery for about 20 mins and then reconnect. When I start it back up, it shows me the correct level of gas. Then it goes to empty, ohh I see what you mean. Thank you very much for this advice!
Did you ever have a code poo16 & poo17? If yes how did you fix it?
It’s been too long to remember exactly what codes I had. My fix didn’t work in the long run, I regret to say. It lasted about 2 weeks then the engine light came on again for the same problem. I’m not sure of the solution at this point. However the symptoms associated with the problem, such as the engine stalling after fueling up, disappeared and hasn’t happened since I installed the new part.

Well yes and no. Symptoms are fixed but light remains on.
What’s labor cost on a job this size?
I should hope not much. But like I said, in the description my repair didn’t last long. Even though all of the symptoms of the problem are gone the check engine light remains on. I haven’t bothered to take it in for repair or to dig deeper in to the problem.

@@cagroundhog could be vapor canister.. code wasn't on for me but had trouble starting after getting gas, after getting a new purge control valve the code appear, then codes went away for me after getting spark plugs replaced but now 1.5 months later the p0497 code reappeared and the shop, after performing a smoke test, says the vapor canister needs to be replaced..
already changed it and after a couple of days check engine popped back up???? im lost
Yep, same problem here. Took 2 weeks for me. I mentioned this in the video description. Even though the problem is actually fixed, the light still remains.

they told me the canister valve the one that's on the tank but don't want to do it till im definitely sure
