Computer Lamola, The Legend indeed, I new him in later 70s and early 80s at Kaizer Chiefs. He was a real general in the middle of the park, just like Rodger Feutumba of Mamelodi Sundowns. It was the really glory days for him and I think Doctor Khumalo was luck because he is the only link from those day to a later era for Kaizer Chiefs.
Bro Vusi, General, Computer, Maria - Maria.... I consider myself fortunate. Why? It is because I saw you, as a youngster when you played for Kaizer Chiefs. Indeed during the 70s you were a thorn to flesh of the entire team of Orlando Pirates back then. Oh! Maria - Maria! What a blessing and joy to have seen your soccer prowess... For many never had that chance. Bro Vusi, you are a great story teller... An extraordinary linguist. Your narration about soccer during those days is just so immaculate! I had to literally stop tears from falling from my eyes. I could not help it. Your recollection of having to play against White teams as Black teams.... with the psychological barriers you had to overcome is truly remarkable. Your contribution to the Black struggle during that challenging period in the field of soccer play, will forever remain etched in our memories... Aluta continua... and May God Bless!
I had an opportunity meet The Legend Vusi Zachariah Lamola in 1977 December at Makholong Stadium playing friendly game with Elander Black Pool and we chatted together in Xitsonga where I realized that that man is a multilingual and a Pastor himself. Very social and respectful. Little didci know that he also Politically when listen to this interview.
What a humble but a great man of the game and of God. "Those who humble themselves God will exalt them...and those who exalt themselves will be humiliated". Mr Lamola, you served God so well on the soccer field with the talent he endowed you with. You did not bury your talent on the ground. Your reward awaits you in Heaven!
Maria-Maria, Halleluyah. I fully concur with the Computer, after listening to this interview. I have never seen him in action but through the radio and soccer magazines we knew these names. We are no longer going to stadiums because the SA flair is no longer there, we went to stadiums because we wanted social entertainment, dribbling was key in the game. Our style of game as South Africans is more of the South American soccer flair. The last time I stop going to the stadium was after the departure of Scara Ngobese, what a player!!!!. His freedom of expression on the soccer field. European coaching has totally killed our flair.
I'm so pleased with his contribution in our football, it's so true that the stadiums will be packed into capacity before 1 o'clock. It reminds of a Chiefs game against Pirates at Umlazi Stadium where his trick worked @ Wagga Wagga scored
The computer i remember one of Chiefs players said sometimes they had problem when he was holding the ball because it was not easy to see where he was going to pass the ball as he was dancing side by side with the ball running forward the computer
Others who came after him calling themselves General cannever be compared with the Computer. The Computer, Vusi, Maria Maria, Zechariah, was the real General. He will always be associated with Chiefs.
Zachariah Lamola is one of the insulted football greats by the corruptheid in our country Hence we are never gonna be blessed until we give these soccer greats their role and welfare in the national game ❤
Vusi is correct about skills suppression of individuals, brought SA football to its knees. Instead European football teams have copied and stolen, dribbling skills from African and South American football players of respective teams today and they are now stronger than ever. Secondly, employment of foreign football head coaches and not having faith in African/Blacks coaches. In SA even coloured coaches were good as they used to play with Black players then, maybe even today if I’m not wrong. 🤔Apparently the player called Lucas “Master Pieces “ Moripe was in China. He displayed his skills almost similar to that of Vusi, carrying the ball on the shoulders rolled from his head. Chinese became excited and spread the word about him. The following game, the stadium was full to capacity. The coach put Moripe on the bench Frye start of game. Apparently it appeared that the fans were furious and demanded him or get them money back. The Chinese coach put him in the field with instructions that he should play, exhibit all his skills even if he doesn’t approve them because the fans want him to do so. He found himself playing in every game👏🏾🤔🙌🏾I agree with Mr Vusi Lamola. Another reason is not giving retired players of those days a chance to help develop football skills of the young players. That would have raised the standard and also inspire young generation to learn more.😅 Well done Ronnie Masilela and thank you both. Continue a good work 💪🏾👏🏾🙌🏾🙏🏽❤️😊

I remember him dribbling the stubborn Lusitano left and right, nickname Computer really haunted until early 90s when I was exposed to computers.

This is such nice platform. I wish to meet one of the legends. I speak regularly with City Kole on the phone
Bra Vusi you were a soccer genius, unpredictable, skillful and awkward to mark

The first goal was scored by Leonard "Waga Waga" Likoebe after a pass from Computer
Great legend indeed, Maria Maria as we fondly called him was an artist with his skillful feet
The name/ nickname "Maria Maria" was not popular like "Computer".....Note made on Friday 24/11/2023

Why can't former players be the ones running our soccer if they are equipped academically.
Most of the guys used to have different surnames to the ones we know them with.
Teenage and Ace had other surnames as well

During the midweek previews Koe Frickleton undertook to walk from Ranx Stadium to Carlton Centre naked if a black team could defeat Lusitano😂😂😂
Ndiyabulela tatu Masilela naku tatu Lamula/Buthelezi
Pastor Vusi Lamola
South Africa will never produce such players anymore unless they take politics out of the beautiful game
Computer used to have skill
