In my testing and experience the best mixture is: 12 to 1.
12 oz of 91% isopropyl to 1 oz of concentrated simple green.
Saturate a paper towel and wipe the ball vigorously on all sides.
Repeat with a new saturated paper towel until no dirt or oil appears on the towel anymore.
Then finish by wiping the ball down with pure 71% isopropyl.
I have do this for my resin balls religiously as soon as I get home from league.
I had a Dark Legend Solid with 60 games on it.
I cleaned the ball after each league session with the formula.
I took the ball to the shop and put it in the heater for an hour.
Not a drop of oil came out of it. The ball did not even sweat.
That is how effective the formula it.

At home I spray simple green straight on the ball and rub it in like a shampoo. I Let it sit for 1-2 minutes before wiping it off, then follow up with 91% alcohol to wipe off and dissolve anything left on the ball. Doing this in two steps has made my bowling ball the tackiest I've been able to get it compared to making a mixture of the two. If you can do a test with my cleaning method and follow up with that purple stuff, let me know if anything was left behind. It would be appreciated. Thanks!

90%+ iso is better and faster (no wait) lane side for cleaning balls (especially removing lane oil) but best of all is then using simple green dilluted with water (SG mixed with alcohol makes both less effective according to chemists) at home in addition (where have time to let SG mixture sit on the ball for a minute before wiping). Together they are as good as any commercial ball cleaner and a heck of a lot cheaper.

To verify that you were actually getting more oil off the ball with the purple stuff you should have wiped it down with a white paper towel with the alcohol until you saw no oil on it. Until you do that I wouldn't pay the big money for the purple stuff.

Excuse me sir, is this safe for the bowling ball? Im afraid it may damage the surface of the ball, what do you think? Is it safe? If Yes, Ill try to apply some of this to my ball.

Yes, it's safe. The Simple Green & Alcohol mix has been used for years by bowler's and there's never been a report of any kind of ball damage.

bowl1820 ... are you allowed to clean throughout the night when bowling in league play

    • @bowl1820
      @bowl1820  8 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, As long as the cleaner is USBC approved for anytime use and the League or Tournament doesn't have their own rule against it.

sir, just asking, is 50/50 okay? because I guess the alcohol is to strong. Am I right? Please correct me if im wrong

A 50/50 mix of SG & Alco is what is normally used and is what is used in the video.
Alcohol too strong for what? You can use Alcohol by itself, it's been used for years as a ball cleaner.
