I honestly wouldn’t have been mad if this title sequence came back
I was low-key expecting this or a recreation of it for at least the first special.
I have a sneaking suspicion this was planned until someone decided "hey, why not make a new one". I love the new title sequence, even with the strange piston sounds, but the 2008 one remains undefeated.
It would’ve been perfect to introduce the new title sequence on Xmas day imo.
To be honest, I was actually half expecting, this actually come back with the new exterior and slightly updated colours
I like the new title sequence (even though they cut it short for some reason), but this will always be my favourite version.
They really should have used the original titles for the specials, with a couple of little changes, and saved the new titles for Ncuti's first episode onwards
I wouldn't have objected to this and thought they might have just done something along the lines of a modern tweak to it for the 60th since it picked up series 4 story threads and would have given a nice "back to business" sort of feel with the return of the RTD era then have the entirely new titles for Ncuti on Xmas day

This would have worked perfectly fine, considering the titles had been upscaled to HD for use in the 2009 specials - if they had teased new titles and used these instead I would have lost the plot (in a good way)
I honestly just don’t like the past 2 title sequences. The Jodie era one was just too weird for my taste and never got me hyped to watch the show. The 60th special ones should honestly have used the 08-10 title sequence because if they really wanted to capitalize on the series 4 nostalgia and make me hyped to watch the show, that’s what would have done it
Jodie's were very spectacular and probably one of the most visually stunning titles every produced but I agree I found them very boring as it was just a vortex and without the TARDIS it felt very lacklustre. Granted, they were trying to hark back to the '60s but Jodie's whole personality as the Doctor was nothing like a '60s Doctor and her titles didn't suit her at all (definitely something Capaldi should have got instead) so they should have gone with something more like Tennant or Matt Smith's in my opinion. But the 2005-2010 titles have never been exceeded in my opinion - they set a high mark that hasn't been hit since.
