    Hi everyone! Thank you for watching!
    I just wanted to comment about the C-Head link not working. What I have gathered from previous comments was that their company went under, but I am not able to find online whether that is what happened. It did take 3 months for me to receive mine, and they told me originally only 3 weeks. They did reply to my concerned email saying it was because their company was moving. So maybe the move was unsuccessful and they're no longer in business. I hope that the people who had ordered before the website went down are still receiving their order. However, I don't want to endorse a company that is screwing people over so I am removing the website link from the description box.
    It is very upsetting because this toilet was awesome. Cheaper than the Nature's head by a lot and all of the parts can be found at your local hardware store. (Instead of having to buy the expensive replacement parts from the company themselves.)
    I'm so sorry I wasn't aware the company wasn't doing business anymore, and I hope the people waiting for their toilet still gets their order. That's some sketchy business.
    Xoxo

      Nobody is going to hold you responsible for a company not responding, & thx for posting what you know. I am surprised since as a marine company they dived because it has been a good product.

      C-Head is out of business --- we bought one in June and they kept stringing us along --- then their website disappeared so PayPal refunded us last week.

    A little advice from an old lady. An awning should always be tied down just in case that wind comes up. I tie mine down with three lines on each side.

    Earlier this year when I was in the hospital I couldn’t use the shower, so they had me use that type of wipes. When I was going home they gave me all the packages, opened or not that had been brought into my room since the hospital rules were they throw EVERYTHING out & sanitize the room as part of C-19 protocol. Since then I have been using them on the road traveling in between stops with full fledged showers 🚿 & baths.

    We loved our c-head. It is the easiest toilet to clean of all of them out there. I did have to pee in a different bucket because it always went inthe compost, but looking at yours it looks like they changed the shape of the seat, we bought ours in 2020. You are amazing

    I used large magnets from Harbor Freight to attach my tarp to van so I could have an awning (on poles outside). I was so sick of dealing with broken stuff and I started finding ways to have/use things without power. Anything and everything.
    Good luck kiddo! Tickle Joey for me.

    Thank you for another great video. We have 3 different vehicles that get used for traveling, so we got the Keltey Sideroad tarp. The tarp goes together really quickly. It fits back in the bag with room to spare. If we put it up on poles you have to purchase those separately. I second the lady who mentioned you really have to stake out the poles on awnings with lines and stakes. A poncho makes a great privacy tent when you can't set one up... I actually used a porta potty in a rest area parking lot with an IKEA poncho on. The restrooms were all locked and there was no natural cover. I did feel a little funny sitting out in the open, but when you got to go you got to go. I'm so glad Joey is feeling better. Thank you for taking us along on your journey. Safe travels.

    I went from a rv toilet to a home made composting toilet and I'd never turn back . I thought it stink . Nope . I thought the bucket would get poo on it . Very rarely in the past two years . I use it always and not public toilets instead . I use it the same I would a toilet and in two years not a problem. RV toilet I had I had problems . Frozen sewer and it stunk specially when I drove and you have to find somewhere to dump and drive in for it ... never would I turn back . I poo 💩 in a bucket and loves it lol 😆
    Oh and cleaning wipes are better than baby wipes . Facial makeup cleaning ones are great when your in the gritty kinda windy dusty places .Wipes are life when your a nomad ...
    Love watching ya . Love your back on the road .

    Shower suggestion... I use two shower curtains attached to my rear lift gate using magnetic clips, overlapping them so one protects the interior of my SUV and the other protects my modesty, a folding bamboo "bath mat", a rechargeable pump with a spray nozzle and a collapsible bucket. You can use your pressurized sprayer thingy instead. Usually I heat most of the water with a 5 gal solar shower bag but usually only put 3 or 4 gallons in it. I don't use the bag to shower (the spray thingy on those just suck), only to heat the water, pour into the bucket, and usually supplement that with a kettle of boiling water because who doesn't love hot showers 😂. I had to cut some length off the shower curtains so they don't hit the ground. Much roomer than using a privacy tent like the ones you kept having destroyed last year. Showers whenever I want/need and only use about half a gallon of water per shower, almost a gallon if I wash my hair as well. I funnel water left in the bucket back into the solar shower bag (the pump has to stay submerged so I always have more water than I use in the bucket). Everything purchased for this setup was less than $100. Eco friendly body wash/soap and shampoo/conditioner necessary, of course. 😊 Just a thought if you want to lower shower costs over the long term. The aquatic center in Las Cruces has/had $1 showers so there is that... Love seeing that part of New Mexico again and so happy to see Joey is doing much better! ❤

    I can totally relate to the laundry thing. Spending so much time away from my home base where i have a washer and dryer, I have learned to appreciate what a blessing they are. But, it hasn't made me any better at putting clothes away after they are washed and folded. lol!
    A note on hair washing...and showering. I am currently at our off grid cabin in the Yukon. I have NOT had a shower, or washed my hair for a month. And I am not smelly nor do I have greasy hair. (I have long hair BTW). Our society has decided that daily showers are a necessity. What a waste of water! To stay clean up here where every drop of water has to be brought up from our lake to the cabin, I don't use water. Baby wipes are perfect for wiping down the 'moist' areas, and for an all over wipe down ever so often. For my hair, I use cornstarch baby powder. I find the dry shampoo expensive and it doesn't work as well. I put baby powder in my hands and scrub it into my scalp. It absorbs the oil. I do this usually before bed, then in the morning go outside and give my hair a good brush. My hair is all clean and not greasy looking at all. Also, the longer you leave between washing your hair, it adjusts itself (our bodies are amazing!). Even when I am at home and have a lovely big claw foot tub to soak in, I don't bathe more than once a week, if that. That's just my 'promo' for saving water!

    • @coralieofjumpwithnofear
      @coralieofjumpwithnofear ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I feel the same about daily showers. It uses SO MUCH water. Even when I’m at home and not travelling in my van, I do spot washes with a cloth rather than shower. I also find my skin hates lots of water, so it’s better all ‘round.

    • @HoneyandMe
      @HoneyandMe ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@coralieofjumpwithnofear Great minds! I always think when summer roles around and everywhere there are rules about when you are allowed to water your lawn...why not when you can shower or take a bath?? I'm pretty sure they use much more water than your lawn and garden! lol!

    • @coralieofjumpwithnofear
      @coralieofjumpwithnofear ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@HoneyandMe Right??
      As for hair, I have brightly coloured hair, so I don’t wash it until my hair dresser does for a new colour. For cleanliness and control of oils, I use a salt solution (water and a tiny bit of epsom salts) to wet my scalp and it keeps oil under control. Same here with how your hair and scalp gets used to managing itself rather than having all the natural oils stripped out regularly and then doing its best to get back to some kind of equilibrium before the process is repeated all over again.

    • @HoneyandMe
      @HoneyandMe ปีที่แล้ว

      @@coralieofjumpwithnofear Your water and salt solutions sounds intriguing! I'd like to try that! Just checked out your channel and subbed! Your in the land down under! (Huge Men At Work fan from the 80s! lol!) My youngest daughter deserted Canada for an Aussie boy friend 1 1/2 years ago. She and he will be home for Christmas, so I'm super excited for the holidays! Your hair looks so cute, btw!

    • @coralieofjumpwithnofear
      @coralieofjumpwithnofear ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HoneyandMe Aw, thanks (for the sub and the compliment about my hair)! I decided to try it based on the fact that people who swim in the ocean a lot don't seem to get greasy hair, combined with the 'ocean waves' trend for hair, so I looked up a recipe on how to make it at home, as I started from there. It seems to take about a full 24 hours to really take effect (if i let my hair get too lank), and definitely only spray it in your roots. I experimented one time with spraying it on the length of my hair as well, and it dried out my hair way too much. It took a good few days to recover. LOL! 🤣

    That really sucks about your awning! The wind in the SW does not care. I’ve lost 100’s of $ in the SW winds, no matter how well I tied/weighted stuff down. I think you are right, someone at Quartzite will help you fix it. Let us know how it goes, I’ve been hesitant to buy another one but I’d also love the shade. Your reviews are always honest! You're camped in the same spot we were in two years ago. We, too, have a C-Head. We spray the inside with silicone before adding new 'litter' when we clean it and have found that useful. We have been using vinegar and water on the urine separator but we'll try your suggestion; sounds like a nice alternative. We're glad to see your little buddy is on the mend!

      What does the silicon do? Is that something you can get from any store??

      @@MyBasicJourney, the silicone makes cleaning even easier; nothing sticks. It's available in Big Box stores and hardware stores, probably Walmart.

    And you saving water. It drives me crazy when people flush their toilet with drinking water when in some countries people walk miles to get their drinking water

    I love these little places you show us. The fig may be cold and damp, it might not be good for filming, and I'd rather not drive in it but it sure is pretty.

    So glad Joey is better! It’s nice to know your little changes are making van life better for you! I’m
    Going to get some of those wipes for this homeless couple I donate to. I think it will be better than the little wipes I’ve been giving them. Thanks for the video! Take care of yourself!

    I always enjoy your videos. Your channel has always been on target with traveling content, even when you were at your moms home. Despite the challenges of your other van you made the decision to keep on with your travel routine. Im anxious to see where you take us this summer. Im glad to hear Joey is doing better. Hope you can find someone to help you with your awning. It hasn't been that long since you got it maybe they can exchange it after you tell them what happened.

    By the way, the same thing happened to my awning except it was an 8 foot awning. A gust of wind tore out the stakes and flipped it up and over my camper. Of course the awning was trashed but also managed to take out my extra large vent. The vent alone was $275 to replace. I put the awning back and have not opened it since!

      I haven't opened mine either. That sucks!! Sorry about your vent!

    So good to hear Joey is on the mend. Great the toilet upgrade is working well - such a relief 😉Annoying the awning let you down but hopefully you'll find a fix for it, as I know it's such a bonus to have one.
