There are news clips showing milk and other foods being dumped out on the ground and getting destroyed, while people were starving, in order to raise the prices of farm and dairy goods on the stock market. Why was their no outcry about that, but helping people NOT starve, through government assistance, is booed today?

Right-wing grifters fear the potential success of Nordic style socialiam which was created in part thanks to FDR's New Deals, because, they know if done properly, everyone will prefer it to greed-based capitalism alone, as they prefer Nordic Socialism in prosperous nations such as Canada, Denmark, Netherlands, etc.

It also states that Cain took one of his nieces (one of his siblings daughters) with him. The myth places Adam at about 900 years old when he dies, with quite a large number of children, grand children great grandchildren, etc from over the years.
Oddly enough, not only did his children couple with their siblings, and with their older siblings children, grandchildren, etc - I suppose when you have a brother who's 600 years older than you, they have great grandchildren who are your age or older too - the bible and the apocrypha talk about the "people in the land" that lived adjacent to Adam. It talks about how Adam daughters were taking up with these outsiders, "the sons of men", and having offspring with them.
Kind of a weird myth that God created Adam and Eve, but meanwhile other people already lived nearby outside of the garden.

Many of the original settlers were running from oppression from State sponsored religions, for example the Anglican church in England. They fled to the colonies so that they could practise their religion in a way they saw fit. Much of the American legal code is based on religious beliefs.

This morning I was awoken by my alarm clock, powered by electricity generated by the public power monopoly regulated by the US Department of Energy. I then took a shower in the clean water provided by the municipal water utility. After that, I turned on the TV to one of the FCC regulated channels to see what the National Weather Service of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration determined the weather was going to be like using satellites designed, built, and launched by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. I watch this while eating my breakfast of US Department of Agriculture inspected food and taking the drugs which have been determined as safe by the Food and Drug Administration.
At the appropriate time as regulated by the US Congress, and kept accurate by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the US Naval Observatory, I get into my National Highway Traffic Safety Administration approved automobile and set out to work on the roads built by the local, state, and federal Departments of Transportation, possibly stopping to purchase additional fuel of a quality level determined by the Environmental Protection Agency, using legal tender issued by the Federal Reserve Bank. On the way out the door, I deposit any mail I have to be sent out via the US Postal Service and drop the kids off at the public school.
After work, I drive my NHTSA car back home, on DOT roads, to a house which has not burned down in my absence because of the state and local building codes and Fire Marshal's inspection, and which has not been plundered of all its valuables thanks to the local police department.
I then log on to the internet which was developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration and post on FreeRepublic(.)com and Fox News forums about how SOCIALISM is BAD because the government can't do anything right.

America get it through your thick head. Public health care, does not mean free health care. It is just not run for profit. The notion of letting corporations run health care is insane. They care for one and one thing only- profit. While in modern left leaning countries such as those in Western Europe, health care is ran by the government with the option to get extra coverage from the private companies. But in the end government steps in whenever the corporations cross the line. Like jack up prices for medicine and health care services.
Everybody gets sick, so everybody pays. Sure young healthy people pay for elder folks, but eventually they will get older and their health will decline, at which point they will get taken care of by younger people.

while on the one hand public healthcare means more people will have affordable treatment, it is also true that the corporate run heathcare we have had in the U.S. has fostered a climate of competition and funded research for new treatments which would never have been able to happen if not for the massive amount of money the corporations stand to make by developing those new and better treatments.

    • @Paleomaker
      @Paleomaker 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

@@Mouse_007 What it also means, unfortunately, is that healthcare is a for-profit system. And that means that insurance companies and many hospitals are run in such a way that poor to middle-income people will be denied preventative care, tests for rare but deadly diseases, coverage for catastrophic injury, prenatal health, etc. because it doesn't help the insurance company's stock price or their CEO's percentage. That's frankly sick. Even people like me, reasonably well-to-do, are screwed, because I make just enough annually to not qualify for subsidy, but not enough to afford the only (literally, only) ACA-compliant package available, which takes more than a quarter of my monthly income in premiums and an astronomical deductible. I would sure as hell rather give that money to a government-run healthcare exchange, where many Americans could receive better healthcare, than line the pockets of an insurance company bigwig.

The stakes are too high in these three areas to allow profit to be the prime consideration and benefits us all equally. Cutting corners to save on costs has consequence no soldier, student, or patient deserves to deal with. Lowering quality while raising prices is unacceptable. No, it's because they make their money off of our backs. I would say that Robertson doesn't even fall into the category of people we should raise taxes on, the bracket would be set at a higher floor than his income. Either way, at our economic height we had a top marginal tax rate between 78% and 93%, and it worked, because business owners didn't want to pay taxes, they rather reinvest in their companies, that meant more employees, better pay and benefits, and more investment into infrastructure, which was the point of the tax, so they wouldn't horde all the money in off shore accounts, and it would circulate and keep economic stability. Do you get that?

_using his so called religion for a cover up_
Of course, he's right. If Christians actually believed that nonsense, they'd agree with him. If death isn't the end, then _when_ you die is meaningless. You don't lose anything if you're going to live forever, anyway. You _certainly_ don't lose anything if you're going to a magic place that's better in every way than the Earth.
Indeed, if you actually believed that nonsense, you'd _cheer_ when children die, right? I mean, Christians are always telling me that children automatically go to Heaven, without risking Hell. So Christians should _want_ their children to die. They should be teaching their children to go play on the highway.
Of course, for centuries, churches told parents that unbaptized infants went to Hell. But after torturing parents for hundreds of years, they discovered that wasn't very popular, so they changed it. Why not, after all? The whole thing is just imaginary anyway, isn't it?
But then, why should any of them care about abortion, for example? If fetuses are children, and all children automatically go to Heaven to live forever and ever and ever, Christians should be _promoting_ abortion as a universal good! Christian women should be trying to get pregnant just so they can abort the fetus, so that Jesus has lots more children in Heaven and lots more children can enjoy being there. According to their mythology, that would be a win/win.
I just think it's funny that no one points out that this crazy guy is religious. Maybe that's redundant? Heh, heh. But no, I think that people just don't want to make the connection, because they want to think that _they're_ going to magic Disneyland after they die, too. And if you start pointing out how crazy religion is, where are you going to stop?

Don’t worry, I still got the $30,000 bill. And I have health insurance! The premium each month is more than our mortgage! Eventually you have to decide if going to the doctor (and not having enough left for food and shelter) or leaving your 3 kids without a mother is better!

Fact is we have a rich country but that richness isn't being shared fairly. At very least, some of those riches should be used to fund healthcare for all. Some of us are more fortunate than others, some of us are born with better brains and better bodies. Those attributes alone give us an advantage. We should do our share to help the less fortunate even those are our only unearned attributes. Those born to riches should have an even larger burden. That's the kind of socialism I support.

Never understood why the US doesn't look beyond it's shores to places where a privatised/social healthcare system works. I live in the UK and am thankful for the NHS, it's social and has it's limitations. Germany however, has fused social with regulated (NPO) insurance companies to create a system which, in my experience, works seamlessly.
It's the only country I know of where a diagnosis can be made on one day and if an operation is required, one is on the operating table the next . . . . no bill!
When I lived there I even had my insurance company pay for my gym membership because it was deemed that I was contributing to my good health and well being.
It's a system that works, why not copy it?
