My Betta is in a 36 gallon bowfront with 8 neon tetras and 8 cherry barbs. He loves chasing them around at least once a day. He has 3 "spots" in the tank where he likes to chill, 2 up top and 1 at the bottom.

I got into fish keeping again after a 20years break, and I'm taking my time this time around, focusing on water keeping first.
I've been taking my kids to petstore with me mainly for window shopping...
over the last couple of months, both my daughters picked out a betta that they liked,
and as of last week, my wife picked out one for herself too.
Now I'm the only one without a betta, wait what?

The first betta I ever had: On the contrary-
(The betta I mentioned had plenty of space in the tank but would sit in the corner and sulk, I eventually got him a friend in the form of a Cory Catfish thinking that maybe that would make it better but all that happened was they would sit in the corner together.
P.S RIP to the two fish I mentioned y'all will be missed)

Hey Chris, quick warning about indistructable rings, if you injure your hand and your finger swells, the ring becomes a problem if it can't be cut off
Most rings actually are built to have break-off points, that when struck correctly by a medical professional, they'll break. My husband's ring is super tough, but emts and doctors could break it if they needed to. I'm hoping Chris's ring is the same way. I've heard it's pretty standard
I love bettas so much.. it’s a shame to see some getting abused. They are so amazing. Also watching that betta swim is so ahhh, so pretty… all over the place ❤
While I would agree with most of the fish keeping community that 5 gallons is the safest bet for bettas, I don’t shame those putting them in 2.5-3g gallons so long as they keep the tank clean. Still better than watching them suffer in that cup 😢
I have 2 bettas one in a 5 gallon and the other in a 6.5. I also have a 55 gallon with 10 giant danios.
@@MorphedWombat ohh my 55 has mollies and black skirts. It’s very pretty, I also have a nine gallon betta tank, two five gallons with bettas, a ten with a betta, a ten with a neon blue Gourami and a few mystery snails, a 3.5 pest snail tank, and a thirty seven with mollies, Cories, and a pleco.

My betta is in My 180 gal with a lot of other fish. He is super happy and will swim the whole 6ft all day. They are extremely active if they have the space to be so

Even my elderly betta moves all around the space of his 5 gal. Just maybe not as quick as that lil guy. Grandpa enjoys different nap spots through the day and who am I do deny him.
As a Betta owner, mine love the space! My oldest was in a divided 20, we recently opened it up so it's now 2 10 gallon sections, they love exploring and creeping in the plants! Can't wait to personalize it more for them!

I find it ironic that some people spend a lot of time trying to get a carpet and I accidentally make a carpet by putting seeds in the substrate and the redoing the tank thinking they wouldn’t work then like 3 weeks later I have a full carpet.

First time I heard them called that (i actually like to call them Glo Skirt Tetras) but agreed, they definitely deserve a nice big planted tank
(Don't hate on them just for being manmade, they didn't ask to be this way; they are still living creatures and deserve to be treated as such!)
Also really loved seeing that beautiful white betta happily enjoying their tank, has me excited to set up my old old 10 gallon as a nice home for a future betta

The moss by spore is just moss in a blender then you seed it by painting the Green smoothie all over the surfaces, you need a "dry start" you flood the aquarium like a month after you seed it. Is not dry though you need to spray daily.

My Betta is in 20 gal, and has no lamp because he sees his reflection on the glass. He's so much more aggressive than my last Betta lol. He spends all his time swimming through plants, building bubble nests, and just chilling
they have such different personalities :)
When my plants try to float instead of staying planted. I look at them and say.. Yes, Chris I will get my hands wet. lol

Recently got our planted 20 gallon long set up for just a Betta, he's living like a spoiled king in his mansion home.
It's been a godsend taking care of him and the tank after nearly a decade of goldfish keeping 😅
I get anxiety every time I watch these vids that I haven't done a water change, then I remember I have 5.5 gallon, filtered, heavily planted tanks with only 6 or less shrimp each that don't need water changes, but I pull out the API testing kit just to make sure.
Honestly these fish tank review videos are actually great inspo for aquascaping! If you recall I have a little "emergency betta" tank, however it was added into the tank by my uncle before the tank was cycled:( Hope you have advice for fish-in cycling! Keeping my hopes high, your videos are once again such a big help:D
I've only ever used the fish-in cycle method and I assure you is much easier if done right. Just do regular water changes and the tank will balance itself over time. Add a little beneficial bacteria after each water change and test every so often for ammonia levels as an extra precaution, especially of the betta is sick and might not be able to handle slight fluctuations in ammonia and nitrites. If it's just the betta in there you'll have no problems because they aren't very messy fish. Definitely do more research into it if I've missed anything, I haven't done this for a good year now since my newest setup so I might be forgetting or misremembering somethings. Hope this helps, and good luck saving bettas :), I hope to do it one day too.
dose some beneficial bacteria if you can, and yes monitor for ammonia and nitrite levels and change the water as seen fit. betta are unfortunately (or fortunately) quite hardy for the most part. Not an excuse to use them as a fish-in cycle fish but their chances of surviuval are higher.
How did it go?
My Betta could in no way live in a cup. Just looking at him for 60 seconds and he has gone everywhere in the tank, he is young (less than a year) and VERY active (I breed bettas and keep my favorites). He is in a 6.8 gallon and he uses every bit of it. Same with my other bettas, (they are in either a 5 or 10 gallon)
My betta used to swim laps around her 10 gallon and it continued in her 20 🥰 she loved it! Favorite 3 shows are Naruto, Mandalorian, and Fairy Tail
I am just a kid and don't have the money for this but I have a betta named Crimson and I really want to upgrade his sad fake plant tank into a live planted tank and change my filter to a sponge filter! :)
I don't have a top 3 off the top of my head, but I do know that Bojack Horseman is the best show ever. I went in with low expectations, expecting just another silly show, but came out crying my eyes out. It's so good that I binge watched it, and I've never binged shows.
As a relatively new fan, this is the first Monday I was actually waiting for it.

We should all film our bettas in a day in their aquariums and littéral start a Facebook group filled with sped up videos like the one at the beginning 💪🏻 all we would have to do to PROVE THEM WRONG is going into the group and scroll in front of them all these beautiful videos 😄🎉
Same as my Betta. every morning after I feed all of them, my one Betta goes on exploring the tank like it was a new sight to see. He's housed on a 12 inches cube with forest style aquascape at the middle with lots of roots from the photos plants..

I caught MTS after breaking the head off my humerus & being stuck at home for 4 months. Re-scaped my 29 long after watching a few Foo videos. 16 months later I have 2 fluval 45’s (one free & one with stand & filter $45 @ goodwill), a 40 breeder, a 7.5 bow front for nano fish, 10 gallon desk top & a 7 for my daughter’s pea puffer.
Hollered at the neon green speedo in swim class 🤣
The moss from spore tank, it could be dry started with mos blended in perhaps yoghurt and brushed onto the hardscape. I've seen some videos of scapers using this method to get moss growing everywhere.

My betta boy lives in a 120 liter tank .. I mean he's everywhere. Very active and curious, and an attentionseeker as well :D Do right by betta fish.

I work for a business that goes into homes. I was in a house the other day and in the kids room was a 1/2 gal tank with so much fake plastic decorations that the betta in it had about a 1/2” all around it’s body to move. I offered them a spare 5 gal with all the necessities needed including substrate and real plants for free and they said no they didn’t want that much responsibility. 🤯I thought really, what do you do you think the fish is? So I explained that they need at least a 5 gal and the plastic plants will hurt the fish and at least remove those and if the fish gets sick to call me for any meds or treatment it will need. She said “it’s okay we’ll just throw it away and get a new one.” I’m trying to not come off judgmental because it’s a customer but I asked “what if your dog was sick, can I ask what you would do?” She said “take it to the vet of course.” Needless to say after another 15 minutes of trying to explain that a fish is an animal too I got no where.
The people who believe that betta fishes don't need more space than the cup they come in are indeed (quote on quote) "right"

I got a betta monday! She's a beautiful halfmoon, she's pearlecent! She is very shy, but she literally explores every single MILLIMETER of the tank! I've seen her go under, through above every single bit of the tank, wait, damn it NO! They dont need any space, anyone know any cheap bowls I can get? Smaller the better so I can see her colors without looking for her

I do a lot of my fish maintenance stuff in the ungodly hours too.
Today I found out my parents "accidentally" bred bristlenose plecos for the 3rd time and now I am taking over their tank.
Actually 4th time. 1st time I saw a baby but it must have died/been eaten and I thought I was insane. 2nd time was when I knew they didn't have 2 of same gender. Took all but 2 away because they insisted, thought they were both same gender... nope. round 3. Told them to just stick to 1. Aparently they "forgot" to rehome one and now they have a huge swarm of younglings. *facepalm*
I can also say I’ve grown an entire forest of moss “from spore” with zero before pics and claim I did it all myself. 10/10 they lied.

My betta's in a 10 gallon tank because it was on sale. It wasn't that expensive so why not get it? My betta fish swims all over the place to every corner of the tank and is probably the most active fish I've ever owned. She seems to be enjoying the plants. She has been like that ever I put her into a new tank and I didn't discover it back when she was in a smaller tank (Shame on me 😭)

I love betta fish so much and I have a 5 gallon dedicated to a betta fish. It has 3 large plants, a betta hammock, some mopani wood and a large rock. The tank also has Squidward house (which I know people in the fish keeping community frown upon, but as a precaution I scrubbed the paint off after I thought some came off when I bumped it during a water change) and my betta swims in and out of the eye holes and the door, and even sleeps in the house🥺. My other tank (9 gallons) is meant to be a community tank but I lost my dwarf gourami to dwarf gourami disease and I’m still shattered over it. Luckily the other fish are ok (bottom dwelling algae eaters) but now I need to figure out what to put in the tank to replace him. I’m thinking I want to try tetras or some other kind of schooling fish (if there’s even space) but I am not really sure. Any suggestions for what I could do? When it comes to deciding what I stock I’m super indecisive.
That sped-up betta in the beginning reminded me of a butterfly, tbh.

Still in the beginning of the video, I just felt the need to mention: I've got my betta (a particularly peaceful, curious gentleman) in my 65 gallon community tank, and BOY does he make use of EVERY INCH of it! There's tons of things for him to rest on when he gets tired, too, but I've found him in all sorts of places, and he seems to like investigating (read: following around) all his tank mates lol.

About the garbage fish:
Yea I didn’t pay for a trip to Ibiza to be collecting plastic bottles at the beach and yet this is what we did with my daughter half of the time at the beach. So I guess it’s a good idea 🤷♀️

Chris i need your help, i have a tank with rosy barbs, sumtran barbs , zebra danios and a gouramy i try adding cory catfish (Panda) but the barbs kept chasing them especially at night, when i wake up in the morning i found some of them dead, what should i do? and what fish can i add that wont be kill or bothered ?

There is ONE fish expert on youtube who said that beta fish dont need large tanks and that they live better in little jars. When others called him out, he says that he worked with fish for decades and knows what hes talking about.
I'm using a five gallon clear plastic barrel shaped "water jug" with a spout on the bottom to make water transfers less stressful for my dude and to have less reflections to piss him off on his wall lmfao. It's only like 17$ at Walmart and honestly I think it's better for the fish in the end. Less flare ups and easier water changes
My betta is getting a 15 g tank all for himself. Little buddy loves the space.

Chirs in the country I live occured a school shooting for the first time where 8 people died. The shooter was 14 years and the law here basically doesn't require him to go to jail because until 15 his parents are responsible for his actions.
