  • Setting up our coop/ run for our Sapphire Gems. Cheap Amazon set up! Only spent just over $400! And don’t worry I know it looks like my husband did all the work, but we both did everything together. He’s just the star of the show! 😂

Did you cut a hole in the shed for them to come out, or do you just go out everyday to open and close the full door? Second question: how is the shed quality? A lot of the reviews said it was thin like a soda can!

Sorry I am just now seeing your comment! Yes we cut a hole and we did have an automatic solar chicken coop door but decided to just leave it open for more airflow! Yes this shed is very thin and I definitely wish we would have just used wood for sure! It was a learning experience for us and it was just a temporary set up! Hopefully soon we will build a bigger shed style coop and make a MUCH stronger run! These runs are great and cheap but don’t do very good at keeping predators out! (Thank goodness they are right in front of our house and I am home to check on them all the time and I also free range during the day when it’s nice out)
We will have to do an updated video eventually explaining all the pros and cons to our temporary set up!
But I do recommend the run but to just put flower boxes or something for extra protection! The shed I do not recommend after we have used it for almost all the seasons! But it definitely gets the job done for a quick temporary set up!

This is exactly what i was looking to do! Any regrets? I was worried about predators and heat from the metal shed

Only regrets are I already wish I got bigger! And yes the metal does get cold in winter and hot in summer so I just leave the chicken door open so they can choose to stay in or go out and also cut it a bit for more ventilation when it’s warm! But I do suggest wood for the coop! We have plans when we are on a property we aren’t renting to eventually build a big aviary with a good sized wood shed! But this is perfect for a first coop/ temporary coop! 🐓
