- Teen hockey phenoms Matt Savoie and Connor Bedard faced-off for the second time this season, this time at the CSSHL Championships. Bedard and the West Van Warriors took this one 5-1 avenging their loss to Rink Hockey Academy from earlier this season. Bedard finished the game with one goal and an assist while Savoie was held of the scoresheet. As expected, both were incredibly dangerous all game long.

Bedard just has that “it” factor not many players have. He has an innate ability to slow the game down (or speed it up) and make others play at his own pace. Exceptionally smooth as a young player in all areas.

Been following these 2 for over a year and from what I saw: Bedard is a very good skater, strong and great balance. He's a goal scorer, his shot is lethal. He's a very flashy player he dangles a lot and has phenomenal hands. Idk about his defense but Ive seen him turn the puck over a lot. He needs to pass more people have called him a puck-hog before, and he's pretty arogant.
Savoie is just an incredible skater! His speed is insane and his edge work and agility is also top notch. He seems more of a playmaker cause he doesn't shoot a lot. He seems like a very special speedy playmaker.

Just watching this it looks like Bedard has a ton of speed. Savoie looks like he has the edge in agility. Who is more highly rated?
@@timoteojuans1964 Savoie clearly has the edge when it comes to skating. However Bedard is stronger on his feet and has a better balance. Seen in other videos Bedard showing his strong strides, he seems like an elite skater on top of all of his skills. But Savoie is no doubt the better skater.

@@timoteojuans1964 Yes im of course aware of that. Bedard will for sure go 1st in the WHL draft, let's see if he gets that exceptional status... But Michkov is in the conversation for the #1 overall in the 2023 nhl draft with 70 goals in 26 games playing in Russia u16! People are calling him the next Ovechkin. Personnally, Bedard is my favorite prospect in hockey but Matvei Mitchkov is very special!

Watching savoie shoot around the back of the net with the puck has to be the coolest thing ever
Giving the fact that bedard is younger than savoie and how he literally controlls the game, I’d give him an edge. But he needs to pass the puck more or major junior will light him up, kind of like what happened to savoie.......
And now he has 4 goals and 4 assists in 4 games in the WHL :D

i noticed similar plays in a few of Bedard's highlights. sometimes he's prone to look off an open passing lane for the shot on net...not always the smartest decision as often times it's a low-percentage shot. granted when the game moves that quickly it's easy to criticize, always easier said than done on the ice. I'm interested to see his transition into major junior where he can use his teammates a bit more.

At this level he does seem to have more of a “shoot-first” mentality, and whether thats because of how he sees the game or the quality of his teammates will be seen in his transition to major junior and beyond. Given his skill set, I think he has superstar potential if he is able to consistently elevate the play of his teammates at the next level. Can you put him on a line with two “average” guys and turn them into household names (i.e. Crosby with any winger he plays with)

Bedard got 1g 1a and his team won 5-1. He's beating Savoie, got the same PpG this year and 1.5yrs younger. That's some good evidence he's better.

Connor has 43 41 assists in 36 gp Matt has 19 goals 33 assists in 22 games Both are really good will see how they turn out Matt did play 22 games in whl and only have 7 assists still only 16 plenty of time to grow
Bedard scores when he wants to, Savoie scores when he needs to. from my perspective Savoie is the better skater & passer, Bedard is the better shooter & stickhandler.

Marius Krasauskas 99.9% of these guys aren’t going pro, might as well have adulation while you’re at it. Minnesota gets 25.000 people at their HS games, Michigan 1000+, so that’s why
Ace Rothstein this isn’t Minnesota tho lol that’s a different story, for western Canada the best option is the CSSHL as more people in Canada would rather play in that, skill wise and watch it over a less skilled high school game, but yea if that was Minnesota then high school would be one of the best options.

Pass the PUCK!! Bedard needs to learn team sense. Skills are throught the roof but how will that translate against elite clubs that can shut down individual plays. Hockey is a team game.
Savoie sucked at the Olympics vs best juniors from Russia and USA. Scored just 4 points, while Michkov scored 14, Miroshnichenko scored 12. And Savoie is older, than both of them.
