I actually love this update. It's gonna help a lot with copyrighted music. Now all we need is an age restriction update to where it gives us the section that's age restricted and let's us cut out that section or blur whatever youtube doesn't like so we can be able to actually follow the rules without making more mistakes due to not knowing what age restricted our videos. I haven't been age restricted yet thank goodness, but if they could add an update where we can cut/blur out anything that youtube age restricts in our videos to fix our mistakes then I think we're set. I applaud youtube for this copyright update. Helps us creators tremendously!
I participated in beta testing for this feature and encountered some glitches, which I reported. The most common issue was repetitive audio; for example, if the background music exceeded 30 seconds, it would cause the audio to repeat for the rest of the video. Additionally, there were frequent instances where the audio would muffle the words, making them sound robotic. I hope these issues have been resolved now.
I've got a video from last year that's blocked in some countries because of copyrighted material; this update could be a hell of a first aid patch for it. I'll have to try it out.
I had the same issue the other day with my trailer review. I did not want to go back and edit out the music, it would have taken sound from the trailer itself and ruined the video.
TH-cam should also check and inform creators of their videos violate any of their policies immediately. It's so frustrating after spending years trying to get monetized only to be told your channel or video violated a policy after hitting the requirements. That so discouraging
Yes and exactly what the violation was. I run a airsoft channel and I see so many in my niche not getting ad-revenue sometimes and TH-cam is so vague on why. Gun channels get hit really bad by this because YT mostly just shrugs their shoulders and goes I dunno what happened woopsie don't do it again. -"Do what again?"
yeah this is a game changer, i stream/record where copyright could hurt my video im intrigued to see how this works in the future for my video/stream, we all try are best not to have music in are video/streams but sometimes there's no way to avoid it so maybe this can/could help us with this, thanks for posting this didn't know this was a new update till now
Erase song option is awesome. Already used it in old video right after update as it was background music in a speech audio that was in public domain and free for commercial use but the song brought video copyright claim.
Well done! That was a good example that everyone can understand! The tech behind it is not new, the YT implementation is. For many years, we could almost do that even with the pre-Atmos era of home cinema amplifiers, or PC software. It's a combination of psychoacoustics and frequency removal. Being a video editor by profession, I have a bold suggestion to make: Why doesn't Google allow us to export a mixed audio video but with separate audio channels? Please hear me out, as this could have two benefits: First, you could use the online editor to remove and replace the audio segment in dispute. Secondly, Google could use its AI magic to audio translate and narrate the vocals to another language, like they promised they would do in the future. I come from the Broadcast TV era of Betacam analogue videos where we used to get four split audio channels to dub original audio, that's why I understand how easy that could be. There is a drawback though. Such a thing might give an advantage to those who know how to edit and export split audio.
The audio is - as you also say - acceptable. Yes, it is better than reupload it. By the way, I am wondering when they will roll out the multi language dubbing option which also would be a helpful tool.
I could hear something was off with the audio from your usual videos but it wasn't horrible. I think it could be a useful tool especially if you are filming at events and theres music in the background.
The audio at the intro doesn't sound too shabby at all considering what TH-cam had to do to get it there..but I'm sure your 'source' was epic audio. So it is as good as it will get most likely (for now) - without creating an enhanced new voice to replace or something. Thanks for everything you do VidIQ.
Very good update! It's just unacceptable a music creator gets 100% of your ad revenue for just 15 secs of music in your 15 minute video. I hope they will get much less stolen ad revenue with this feature.
No the audio after the music was removed was not perfect, but was it acceptable? If the alternative is re-editing rendering and uploading then I think yes it does an adequate job. As someone else mentioned, any tools that help us creators have to be a bonus. Keep it up TH-cam 👍
This is cool, a lot of times im filming at a car event or in public and someone is playing music loudly and I either have to silence my audio in the video and add music or just not film ... Cheers everyone!
TH-cam has become nearly unusable due to the overwhelming number of ads and glitches with this latest update. Just before an ad interrupts, the video shrinks into a small square now, cutting off the sides. When you try to skip the ad, the video skips forward more than it should. The skip ad button is more tiny than ever and hard to hit. The platform has also slowed down significantly due to all the ads, using much more data, (expensive). The excessive ads are making the experience unbearable. Change it back, Google!
works good and is option no.1 now, when I get copyright claims even for video(music) that was published months ago and totally fine, but now gets claimed and demonetized. One button ... a littlebit of silence in the sequence or kind of "AI music" with some glitches of notes coming through. But for older videos better then deleting, re-rediting & re-uploading.
i also got a copyright claim like this, and all I did was lower the volume of the music a bit, and I didn't get a copyright claim. But this feature is really awsome.
Wasn't this a thing years ago? I remember using it on my Battlefield 4 videos and it sounded just like this - crap. Looks like they just brought back an old feature and didn't improve upon it whatsoever.
This'll help put more to the end of content owning networks able to profit off of creators w/ zero recourse for the creator, and I'm all happy for a tool like this to exist.
This is a great update! I JUST checked on sorting a video like this the other day and was wishing it was an option! 🥳 The audio sounds good to me, wouldn’t have noticed if you didn’t say.
A truly amazing update! As for the audio, its definitely muffled and a bit grainy. But if I had to picked muffled to heck vs no audio at all, I'll take muffled any day.
We should have a special file where TH-cam can talk to the file that the original video is made on and we can edit it on the site. Not too bad for a concept idea. Anyone else got any good ideas?
@@vidIQ and can I just say I love the VidIQ app and the latest updates as well. This is not my main channel I hide from fans under this one but I love it!
A little muddy but not bad really considering what it's doing. It sounds like it's just subtracting out the pattern that uses to recognize it in the first place and doing some amplitude adjustments and phase adjustments along the way..
I would prefer if they would give us the option to replace the video while keeping analytics, comments, etc. that would low us to go back to the original project files and make the changes ourselves.
It would be adequate if the copyright owners claimed only about 20% of the earnings from YOUR VIDEO where the background music is only a very small part of it!!!
I've been on this channel as a silent viewer since your early days when you just started and had only a few thousand subscribers. So, I have to say, flagged videos, muted videos, and re-editing/re-rendering videos were not that important. You see, for me, my channel can't grow, it can't get better, there's simply no chance. After 7 years, I just know that’s how it is, and that's that. I still upload the occasional video without expecting any boom or success. When you're a small TH-camr with just a few thousand subscribers, you don't care if a video gets flagged, or if it's deleted, or if the audio is removed. In the end, it doesn't mean much to me to spend an extra half-hour editing and re-uploading. As I said, when you're big like you, every little detail matters to get even bigger. But for us small ones, who cares about us? We are buried deep beneath millions of others, and it’s almost impossible to rise to the surface.
Revenue sharing option is better as replacing music or muting makes the video something different than what was actually made. I tried this new feature, but it still leaves a portion of the sound though the claim is eliminated. In one case the music could not be erased fully and video did not sound appealing and copyright remained. In that case original video with copyright is better. As the original content with matching music was the whole essence of the video. Music enhances the experience of the video which we must admit. So they should share the revenue rather than demonitize it.
Eyup Rob , I found this yesterday and as I have just made monetization I have already used it on some of my early uploads , with pretty much the same results as your good self ! A bit of fine tuning by the guys and girls at youtube and this will be an awesome tool . OH and BTW any ideas why i'm seeing my own playlists on my home page ? 👍
It doesn't sound good honestly. Maybe just passable but if it was my audio on my video I would not accept it. Its lacking in top (high frequencies) and sounds like it has that over compressed digital sound. I mean removing the song from the background like that is incredibly clever - but for me the remaining audio is barely acceptable. Just my opinion!
When making gaming videos I sometimes just remove all the audio and then put the tracks I want over the top, the ones I can use. That way you have the game footage for the interesting visuals and the music you want for the sound. Best of both worlds I think. - A

bad idea because it would get abused, people would make a video that'll get views, then change the video file to something else after.
That would be abused 3 seconds after the feature is released. Especially on politically volatile topics.

Yes. They should finally divide the revenues between sound and image creators.
Right now, the privileging of music is a scandal.
If I ever get monetized, this will be very helpful with my streams since I am often in a public place with music.
It turned into a radio show
Assuming good thumbnail, title and description with key words and used tags, how long does it take youtube to give a new channel impressions?
This is a really good feature, they should keep it and keep working on it so that audio sounds better
