The best comparison I've seen so far! Great job! Thank you! Is the sharpening reduced on iPhone 16 Pro in LOG, or is just the focus that is not on the same spot? The new 13mm seems worse in low light(@ ISO 1600) than the one from 15 Pro.
Glad you enjoyed the video! I don't believe the sharpening has been reduced in LOG on the new phone, to my eye they appear to be about the same. As for the low light on the 13mm. Based on my findings it technically performs a little bit better than the 15 in normal filming situations. I think why it may seem it looks worse is because of the fine grain structure becoming more noticeable when putting it side by side against the 15. With the new higher pixel sensor, it is capturing a more fine grain picture that is much more noticeable than the muddy grain from the old 12mp sensor. So to the eye it's going to look not as great, but ideally I would rather have a more defined grain structure over the muddy one as we are able to see more edge sharpness than the soft edges of the 15. If anyone else see's this comment I'd be curious to hear your experiences!
@3:50 - The glare tests we need, thank you! Very thorough! One comment about the DR chart, pretty sure we wouldn't count the clipped stop, just like we wouldn't count the floor before we walk up stairs.
Hello! I was considering buying the ultra wide lens for my iPhone 15 Pro Max but now that the iPhone 16 Pro Max features a 48MP ultra wide lens, I’m unsure if its quality is better than what I could achieve with the external lens. Since I plan to film during both day and night, I’m looking for opinions on whether the EXTERNAL ultra wide lens with the iPhone 15 Pro Max is better than the new iPhone 16 Pro Max’s 48MP ultra wide lens. Which lens will offer better quality video? Thank you very much in advance!
Hey there! In theory the quality will be better if you purchase a external wide angle lens that goes in front of your main camera. Mainly because the main camera sensor on the iPhone performs much better than the wide angle sensor. You may not get as wide as 13mm, but you're image will be more detailed, clear, and perform better in low light. And of course it depends on the company who makes the lens. Hopefully their coating and glass is nice so that the image coming through is pure and not full or ghosting and flares. I unfortunately do not have any experience with external wide angle lenses, so at this time I don't have a company to recommend. Hope this helps!
Hey! It is better than last years 15 pro max. Having the extra detail in the Wide Angle lens is definitely welcomed as it will allow me to effectively have a 13mm - 48mm range between the Wide and Main camera lens. The slight extra performance low light is also very welcoming for when I need it. As someone who was very surprised that I ended up using primarily the iPhone 15 pro max to cover NAB 2024 this past April. Having this new sensor will make it that much more enjoyable for my trip next year. Does the 16 pro warrant an immediate upgrade? That really depends on how someone plans to use their phone. If they do not heavily rely on the Wide Angle lens and slow motion, then I think most people can skip the update videography wise. The 15 pro is more than enough to keep up for another few years. We'll see if the 17 pro see's a redesign of lenses and sensors that makes sense to upgrade from a 15 Pro. Hope this helps!
Unfortunately i'm not a photographer so my experience with the photos and what I do with them is very simple. If the video tests are any indication to how the main sensor works, then I would suspect that there isn't much of a difference in terms of the image quality. However the new 16 main sensor has a much faster readout. So I suspect the main difference would be that you can fire off shots faster on the 16 than 15. Hope this helps!
Basically no but the in regular shooting mode the 16 over sharpen even more Than the 15 which is a bummer. It either adds more contrast of lowers it depending on the situation.
iPhone 15 pro Max is still a beast. Color science : 15 promax > 16 promax Noise réduction : 16 promax > 15 promax Slowmo : 16 > 15 Hum I keep my 2 15 promax , waiting for the 17
I'd argue the noise reduction is worse in the 16, since it is more aggressive, making it less similar to a raw image. It's just a little more processed overall.
Yea... I feel at this point there's only so much you can do... until they come up with some sorta nano-tech lens coating where if they detect a flare they will regroup in such a pattern that bends the light away? Some super sci-fi stuff haha
- Screen panel : the same as in iphone 15 ( M 12 type ) - Img processing : smart hdr 5 , also the same as in iphone 15 series The point is : If you have iphone 15 you don't need to upgrade this year & forget all apple marketing techniques ;)
Looks like the 15 is better

Got it! Also, nice job with the LUT. 🤘
You need Motioncam Pro in your life
@@TLDR_filmmakerin lower light scenarios I find the 15 looks better than the 16. To me the 16 looks more processed and muddy
Why does the 15 have slighter better green in those night shot, or is it just the grading?

This is the comparison i was looking for! Thank you!
0:48 16 pro have worse dynamic range??
Pretty good much you didn’t mention that the main sensor actually got worse results when you pushed the ISO…

@@TLDR_filmmaker Thank you so much! This is super helpful❤️
Can we also see a still pictures comparison please. In videos specially apple log there is barely any difference.
16Promax Blackmagic cam frame drop? In long take video?
So, conclusion, is the 16 any better in ur opinion? Thks

@@Marek_Holland Because they're using regular glass for lens cover, iPhone is using sapphire which is a much more reflective material

The 48mp is nonsense its still 12mp lol complete nonsense

No Real Difference. You should make a Video 16 Pro vs the 14 Pro
