If you only watch highlights you can even think that Wemby is a good player.

These three players have a lot of losses, they make bad choices. When Wemby and Sochan scored about 20 or more points, Spurs won individual matches even against much stronger rivals, and now there has been regression for a long time.
the spurs need to get some seasoned players to orient these young guys cause as you can see every one for themselves trying to prove soemthing instead of utilizing wemby better

His stats are off the chart for a rookie who is 7'3. Also there is other professional players out there who need touches. Literally nobody would want to play with him if the game plan was give the ball to Wemby Everytime we have the ball. And if that happened I think Wenbys numbers would go down because he would have 3 defenders on him. I'm a Wolves fan, that's like me saying give the ball to ANT Everytime. Wemby will win championships throughout his career but it won't be this year with the coaching staff and hot garbage surrounding him.
There are plenty of fans who demanded that Ja became the face of NBA even as a rookie. How many rings does he have? How many post season has he played in? Who are even his team mates?
Pop isn't the greatest coach of all time if he doesn't know what he's doing. He's not bothered about just one season. He's looking at building Wemby's whole career as a Spur and tanking this season to put great players around him from the next draft who will form the core for the next 10 years and more.

You can't tell me Spurs are not stealth tanking, with Pop being such a legendary coach their horrible gameplans are too consistent, doesn't add up.
It's not even stealth tanking. They ARE openly tanking. This team would be instantly buffed if they got the lottery pick, plus the Raptors' top-6 protected pick.
If things fall their way, Pop would have two top 10 picks in the next draft with great European talents spread across the top tier.
Imagine Spurs with Wemby, Sarr and Topic on the same growth timeline in the next decade and more!

Pop tried to win with #1 pick Robinson for 10 years without success. They made the decision to tank again to get another lottery pick to pair with him and a dynasty is born.
It is no secret that the Spurs are going to have 2 top ten draft picks this year.
Add that to Wemby, he'll have top young talents on the same development timescale and rookie contracts for the next 3-4 years. With all that cap space, they can bring in any supporting pieces they need .
Pop is not just assembling a team, he is building culture that will continue long after he retires and hand over to his successor.
Don't be surprise that this project might event take two seasons, and we'd see a fully stacked core in 2026 that could dominate for 10 years or more throughout Wemby's career.
