Smt. Kaushiki Chakrabarty was born in 1980 in the campus of Sangeet Research Academy, Kolkata, Kaushiki Chakrabarty is now a scholar of the academy. The gurus of the Academy and the members of its Expert Committe repose a great hope in Kaushiki and have blessed her for a glorious musical future.
By the grace of God, she could reproduce any musical and rhythmic phrase when she was only two years old. Kaushiki's mother, Chandna Chakrabarty was her first guru and very soon, Kaushiki became a "ganda-bandh" sagird (disciple) of her father's guru, Jnan Prakash Ghosh according to India's ancient system of guru-shishya parampara. On account of the old age of her guru and with his consent, she resumed her training under her father, Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty.

She might be a 'gandharva' before taking birth as ' Kaushiki' on this earth.
Gandharva are the one who entertain the God in heaven.

This is more than just music. I fell in love with Kaushiki when I saw her sing Madhuvanti in Paris, 2006. Not every music brings tears to your eyes. Bach's Goldberg variations also pierce my heart.

We ppl with different religions and cultures... Bring out the most radiant Colors..... See the names of singer... Tabla vaadak... Tanpura vaadak.... Peti vaadak..... There are many more examples....... No religion is seen in art forms...... I.e.... Singing... Dancing.... Acting..etc.....

Saiyyan mora re (Oh my beloved)
Ae din rajni kaise beetey (How will my day and night go by)
Bin tere darsan re (without seeing you)
Na koi paati na koi sandesa aaye (No letters nor any news have come)
Dhoond phiroon main jag angna (I am looking for you everywhere)
Brenda - most probably this is "BRAJ" a dialect of hindi spoken in northern india

What a performance! I cry every time I listen to this bandish. She has an amazing gift of expressing the emotions through music. It is truly a God's gift which very few people in the world have. I am a thumri singer - I know how difficult it is to sing so naturally with so much ease - singing is as natural for her as breathing.

I don't understand music much, but when I listen this beautiful thumri I wish it should not end. so I downloaded it and when I listen this thumri I switch on the rpt button and listen several time continuously for hours. There is no word to express the beauty of her singing. May God bless her.

I heard it many times but whenever I listen this song I feel better. What a melody in her voice and expression ! I can remember the moment when I discovered her father by listening a classical based song in radio in his young age.
