- The Netherlands in Victoria 3 are in a period of decline, not unlike the Victoria 3 Ottomans. Unlike this pretender to the Roman Empire, however, the Dutch still have colonies, notably the SPICE ISLANDS. Today we're going to see if we're able to bring back the Dutch Empire at it's greatest extent, picking up colonies along the way. No Victoria 3 guide needed for this one!

6:38 You lost the land in Africa because of your colonization, when you canceled your colonization the entire area got released from your country, this happened in a previous game as well.
I hate this mechanic. The tension rising thing makes you think “oh okay let’s stop colonizing here then” and then you lose all the damn land there 😂. Have to drop interest in the region instead.

Tension rising is a good thing though, it triggers the colonial uprising allowing you to get colonial rights....
@@teun911 Yes. Doesnt make it a great mechanic though. Rather annoying most of the time.
@@nofoxgiven6561 There's actually a pause button. If you look carefully in the province info where the colony progress is, there's part of it you can click to pause the progress, not abandon it. So it probably stops adding tension, and also your other colonies will grow quicker. Took me about 500 hrs of play before I saw this...
vic3 is slowly getting better now, glad you keep playing it!
If you look at the concurrent players, vicky are the lowest in comparison to EU4 + HOI4 + CK3 + Stellaris

Hey Laith, you don't need to go manually building by building to change the production options, If you going to mass convert a province to what you do elsewhere in your country you can click on the state menu ( the blind justice one) and just click convert there

so just a couple of Historical sidenotes explaining *why* the Netherlands is in a state of decline at this point in history:
- As you pointed out, the Netherlands lagged behind in industrialisation. Belgium was actually the second country to start industrialising, after the British started it. the Dutch only got started around the 1830s... or even a bit later.
- The Dutch lost Belgium because of... the French, ironically. See, the Belgians revolted 15 years after the Napoleonic wars ended, but their revolt was after a bit of fighting almost suppressed. The French-speaking leaders of the rebellion then asked the French to help them out, the French said yes, and the Dutch just looked 2 seconds at that situation, said "Fuck that we're not fighting the French AGAIN" and left the Belgians to their own devices.

I still love & play Vicky 3 on the regular, so I'm definitely still on board with this content. I feel like for true completion of this goal, a treaty port in New York would have been perfect. Heck, it probably would have spawned in Manhattan.

Quick tip with changing production methods, in the state actions tab under political lens, there's a button "reset production methods" that will auto set any building in a state to the majority pms of your country.

I've had several wars end with my enemies capitulating and not giving one of the War Goals. Some thing is obviously causing this bug, although I have no idea what it could be yet. I imagine they'll fix it before the new patch comes out, so that we can fully enjoy that new patch and all of it's new bugs. xD Ahahahahaha, I play this game way too fucking much.... It seems to happen to me the most whenever I add Open Market as a war goal. It's not the primary and the enemy even goes to -100 war score, but the game seems to think that was the only war goal that was added. Long as I don't bother with Open Market it seems to be fine.
@@fateoftheforsaken I've never used open market in all the hours I've played the game. Hehe if I want access to their market I just puppet or dominion or treaty port, or just conquer the resources directly lol.

You can not take the Raj from Britain in a war, because the Raj is a major power in its own right. And you can not puppet major powers. If a country becomes a major power while it is your puppet, it remains your puppet. (Same thing goes for dominions)

Ive had the same problem with wood in the new patch. Ive started a prussia game, a japan game, and a US game and in all three i had over -400 in order balance, -~1000 in the japan game. Idk

I've been playing as Greece, but I'm still quite new to the game, and I have SOOO much trouble trying to scale my construction. I feel like my economy can only support like 9 construction, even ten or twenty years in. To be fair though, Greece runs out of labour very quickly. I can't tell if I'm terrible at the game, or just picked a very hard start.
greece is challenging. low population and you are at a couple of countries whims regarding your market because you owe the British and French (at least 2 majors) obligations.

If you liked the Dutch, you should also try playing as the Dutch Indies. Imo it's a lot more fun.
