“As the oldest still existing brewery in the world it stands upon the Weihenstephan hill, surrounded by the comparatively very young Weihenstephan science center of the Technical University of Munich. And so, a unique tradition and brewing culture developed over the centuries.“ I love their dunkel hefe. Reminds me of a trip to Bavaria years ago.
Hey Brad! I am psyched to hear that Wiesenstaphaner has an NA beer! I had to remove one of my Irish food groups (alcohol) from my diet in 2021 because of a gastric condition.. I LOVED this beer in it's regular guise... Thank you!
I can get it in the states ,the taste is a Liquid lunch and when I lived in Bavaria I was told that the locals like to drink it warm but not me ,it is made with alot of yeast to process it faster so it will bloat the belly fairly quick ,but I still buy it once in a while ,thing about Bavarian beer is the freshness because they dont like to put any preservatives in thier beer but the this beer has a long shelf life so they can export it without it skunking
The Weihenstephaner's bottle exudes quality. It's a proper shaped German Bier bottle. It has dark brown glass to protect the brew from light, rather than the silly green glass we Americans pretend is there to protect from light. When I see a bottle like that it brings back summers days in Lower Saxony as 12 year old, going to the local store to purchase Bier for "Mom and Dad" ;-)
the proper ones have caged stoppers. i.redd.it/lpc49rgxmto81.jpg
Thanks Brad, I've just picked up 3 from my local Dan's for this evening.
Good man. Let us know what you reckon, mate!
One of the best alcohol free Weißbier and I am surprised that you find that down under. (I would have expected to have Erdinger, Krombacher or other big TV Commercial Brands there but Weihenstephan is more a smaller brewery (and it has also a brewmaster's and agricultural school attached).
Weißbier is here in Bavaria more a summer drink, for the cold time of the year you usually switch over to dark beers like Weltenburger Dunkel, Augustiner Dunkel, Nitttenauer Geisterbräu, etc...
Yes, I generally like darker beers in winter, too.
But there are very few non-alcoholic ones worth buying.
We tend toward IPA, pale ale and sours in summer.
But our winter is like your summer, a little bit!
I love that beer - it tastes of more
Weihenstephan is one of my favourites. Alkohol or Non-Alkohol. Well, they were founded almost 1.000 years ago in 1040. Enough time to figure out how to make a good beer... 😉
Greetings from Southern Germany.
It is soooo good, man.
I hope to enjoy it in the Augustiner-Keller beer garden one September soon like I did way back in 2015!
@@BradsGuitarGarage So, if you make it back to Germany... let me know. I'll join you for a beer. And hey, very impressed that you have a proper "Weizen-Glas"! You're a man with style... 👍
Should try the Steiger Alcohol Free
Trinken macht frei
Add vodka.
