I mean he was in some of the biggest groups ever, writes for massive pop artists and sold out like 6 shows this tour. I'd imagine he's choosing to stay a bit lower key, right where he wants

I'd say this is my favorite album from beginning to end that I've listened to in at least a decade. I have listened to this entire album so many times, and it takes me to somewhere else. So rarely does an entire album just take you away like that. I get lost in it, emotionally and mentally. Please Jack, never stop making music, cuz it makes me so happy. 😁

So I know it's been a minute but Jack has basically described this song as about his ex and how he didn't want her to bring him his darkness. He said, "it's not 'I hate you,' it's not 'I love you,' it's 'fuck off." There's a great interview with him about it. I dont have the link but if I find it and remember I'll paste it here

I dig your rig bub, an incredible amount of talent and bravery. Like i said in another comment, alot of the music is reminiscent of the boss, but balanced quite well with originality. A strong sound and very well written lyrics. I really get into what yous are doing musically, a great deal of power and melody, what sets these cats apart from other solid bands, are the lyrics. No one else is as descriptive and as open to interpretation lyrically. Great band, great groove, great music

This song is so beautiful! I love that the lyrics are about being manipulated and gaslighted from a man's perspective. That message is so relatable and uplifting in that the man finally gets out of it without losing his sanity. Thank you Jack and your team!
It could also be about not wanting someone to leave you despite the hardships they are going through?
I personally think it might be a little bit of both. Being lead on makes you feel so many complex emotions, it’s always back and forth between wanting them to stay and wanting to let go of the pain they are inflicting on you by mistreating you.
The song is quite ambivalent in its meaning, I would say.

I heard this song on "Made in Chelsea" series 22 episode 2. there weren't enough lyrics to Google to find it... Also because of the echoes I couldn't quite make out the lyrics... But I kept rewinding and playing it back over and over and estimating what the words are!
