As promised, here is the forum thread with all hubs on the market: unicyclist.com/t/freewheel-unicycling-megathread/267800#unicycle-specific-hubs-23 . Thanks for watching everyone!
Thanks for making this amazing tutorial! One little thing that I like to add is that the fornt forward mount can also be performed less static which will make it feel pretty equal to normal mounting. When pulling the preak in that kind of all 90 degree angle situtation, you just need to pull the uni towards you and then kind of mount like on a normal uni but just with front forward first and with using the brake.
Hi Finn, Amazing tutorial, watched it 6 or 7 times now. Today for the first time, I manage to pull off coasting with out the brake, got continued forward motion without grinding to a stop and got the balance point just right, a very little correction needed but thats it. Normally 10-15m as much as I can manage. Today I managed 25-30m, 4 times in a row, then needed to start pedaling, but straight back to coasting as soon as I had enough momentum. Its taken me 2 years of hard practise, once I had done it several times over, I knew I had it cracked. Cannot tell you how amazing it felt, each time. I have a grin from ear to ear and cannot belive I have actually pulled ot off 😀😀😀😀 The tutorial video was a huge help and made the difference. I am bursting with happyness. Coasting was my final hurdle to overcome. Yes you can learn free wheel and coasting even @ 57. My fixed wheel buddies are going to be so jelous and to be honest I dont think anyone thought I could pull it off. 😀😀😀😀😀🎉🎊
Impressive, glad I could help! I've found that currently I'm not spending enough time on the freewheel to coast more than a few meters reliably myself, but I know it's a great feeling when it works :)
Thank you for the video. Nice to see, at last someone has done a free wheel video using the brake. Very helpful indeed. I am at the stage, up to the end of your video. I can do the forward and jump mounts, ride uphill, on the flat and down hill. I can do short controlled coasts and keep balance 10-15m, but a long coast down a hill still eludes me. I have been working on pedal position, smooth pedaling and body posture, but generally come to a halt and have to start pedaling again. Brake pressure wise, 1 finger seems to work, uphill I can do with no brake, on the flat and downhill, I still need a tiny fraction. I can feel when I have everything right but just cannot get that consistantly enough. At 57 I find riding the brake vs the energy expended keeping balance, is really tough, but it is getting easier the more I can back off the the brake. Good to see I have been doing everything right and on the right track, I have got to grips with most things other than the long coast, so I will keenley wait for you next video. Any tips greatly appreciated. My mission is to prove anyone can learn to ride a free wheel uni even at 57. Most videos show, the very gifted enjoying free wheel riding, however none seem to want to share a tutorial or advice for those trying to learn using the brake. Amazing video, super useful and well put together. Thank you
Hi there, I am indeed so fascinated with this Freewheel hub that I am definitely going to get one. My only question is regarding unicycle wheel size. I know you used a 27.5-inch unicycle, but will the free will hub also be usable on a 36-inch unicycle?
@@unicyclebasics Oh, thanks. From today, I’m going to start practicing a 27.5 freewheel uni. Watching you maneuvering it, now I am dreaming about what I will be able to do through practice.
Thanks for the great video super work spezial thanks for it good tipps for beginer: on little think to add i think with the freewheel hup you have a benefit in speed in downhill in muni riding. it need developing some new ridetechnik. forgett that freewhwheel is simular to unicicling. Find out that freewheeling take me twice more energie than normal unicycling. it need more konzentration. you need to reackt faster. and much more. you need to build up more muskl in your back. The mount with the crank arm back is very easy and effektiv you need to push on the freewheel like a scooter to get speed. come visit me in Switzerland and we could make a freewheel ( Muni )or Freewheel vs Muni tutoral part two. its long in my mind

These are really nice. This is a good replacement for a car.

Glad you enjoyed it!
Great Tips!
Thanks Marc!
Krasser Fortschritt! Sieht echt cool aus
Danke! :) Macht auch echt viel Spaß!

Thanks for your informative vids. By the way, what’s your freewheel uni’s wheel size?
You are welcome! I'm using a 27.5" wheel :)

Nice! Freewheeling is a really fun challenge :)

Wenn alles traumhaft läuft hab ich vor oder nach der grischa ein bisschen Zeit, dann könnten wir Teil 2 machen!
the wheel rotates freely relative to the pedals sometimes. How?
Freewheel, I understood.
So you basically do a constant wheelie/manual.
I never really learned to wheelie a bike, but yes, the principle is probably the same.
