I’m with you, it’d be tough to knock this album off my #1 spot. Their live performance on KEXP is an excellent example of their talent (pretty much An Awesome Wave in entirety, with excellent sound recording).. th-cam.com/video/pcVRrlmpcWk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=4eJhN6y41iyq_Nri
Alt-j often get written off as just another band from the early 2010s indie wave, but people forget how absolutely amazing they are at creating their own sound
I feel like if you love these interesting and quirky sounds matched up with great craftsmanship, you’d love Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost Parts 1 and 2 by Foals. They’re so good for that style.
Just found your channel and I gotta say-it is cool. Just because you’re not chopping up the music you’re listening to and genuinely enjoying that music. As for the album itself, I was so impressed by it when I’ve heard it for the first time it was stuck in my head. Especially a Taro song, which is about Robert Capa and Gerda Taro, the first military photojournalists. This song is literally an imagination about how they both passed away in different times but both on the battlefield. That song surely made up my mind about choosing a person for an essay about influential people back in a school times. What a wonderful song, what a great memory…
Yesssssss!!! Going to see them in November and I can't wait! It's the 10 year anniversary tour for this album :) would absolutely love to hear your reaction to their most recent album The Dream!
Alt-J takes inspo from In Rainbows which is pretty clear when the guitar comes in many of their tracks. Their experimentation with layering and stuff takes a bit of inspo from the king of limbs, fun fact.
hello! it's my first time on your channel, and you know, it was very interesting to watch you listen to music. you are so cool to delve into every song, incredible album and incredible reaction, thank you! :)
Lol love how in Ms you're gooped..floored..DEAD..that's the power of Alt J for ya. One of my absolute favorite bands and I was super fortunate to see them live twice (in New Zealand and Israel). Please do their other albums!! Gonna check out more of your vids, Radiohead's in particular ❤
Saw Alt-J once when they played in my hometown---bands coming to South Africa is very rare occurrence. LOVE this album and it was a dream to see them live, but when they performed it was like listening to the album. Don't get me wrong, the technicality of pulling it off was awe-inspiring, but I came out feeling like I could have just been at home listening to the album, for all they moved around, etc. Now The Hives, that played afterwards, THAT was a REAL show!
I really really recommend listening to Ágaetis Byrjun by Icelandic band Sigur Rós, who in the past have also toured with Radiohead. Ágaetis Byrjun is one of my alltime favorite albums and an absolute blessing to the ear.
I dont think anything can top the production value of this album as far as "Nerd" rock goes. The hint of experimentalism paired with the whine in Joe's voice and slow progression/build-up to the hooks make it so introspective. Just fantastic.
I would love if you would react to The Dream or This is all yours by alt j as well. The dream especially is imo their best album. Incredible band and thank you for reacting to them.
I used to listen to this album growing up after hearing “Fitzgerald” on a commercial one day. I wanna say it was Nike… but anyway 💁🏾♀️ im so glad to see it getting the love it deserves.
I VERY rarely leave comments but I just love you dude. Just watched your reaction to Ants From Up There (best album I've heard since 2010) and your personality, production and everything is just perfect mate . You got so into the music in the BCNR reaction, allowing yourself to get lost in the art, and your thoughts on it were just great bro. And then I see you've done this album (also one of my fave albums) and I see you're rocking that Teddy Fresh!! Fuck yeah brother. Love that shit. I really look forward to more of your vids (have subscribed) and especially your reaction to BCNR's debut album, as well as their new live album, for which I highly recommend you actually watch the video for as the whole performance was premiered on TH-cam for the release and it adds a lot to the songs imo.
If you like this folly indie kind of sound then you will love grizzly bear! Also I apologise, as I somehow manage to give you a suggestion on almost every video you upload 😅
Keep the suggestions coming, I just wish I could get to all of them lol. But at the end of the day your suggestions can reach anyone who reads the comments so you never know how many people have just found their new fav band from your comment!
11 years old, yeah? Probably ahead of its time or timeless; not sure which. I just know triangles are my favorite shape. Edit: well mastered album as well. Its all good on its own, for sho, but the space it takes up in your headphones is what does it for me. Sensually fulfilling to my hearholes. Edit2: oh, uh in my top 10 albums. I'm 40 ish.
I love alt j i wish more people my age would know them.. everytime i say i like them i have to play breezeblocks so they even know who im talking about
I saw these guys live at Glastonbury, only a few months after the album dropped. They were mid bill on the second stage, but the Hype was massive, so the crowd was huge. They were ok. They must've been shittin it.
Yeah, I get that. They just kinda played the songs like the album? Which is cool, great album, but it wasn't really a Show. The Hives played right after... now THAT was a SHOW.
I very rarely recommend albums but I highly recommend the album Open Heart Zoo by Martin Grech. It isn't very well known but is an absolute masterpiece (all except for the last song lmao)
@@cavemanjack yes it is, if you search 'Martin Grech' his topic should come up and then his first album from 2002 is named Open Heart Zoo. If you do want to listen that would be so cool because it is one of my favourite albums and ur one of my favourite youtubers lmao
My cousin really likes Alt J. After years of exposure, I have to say, they do lots of things really good. But, nothing approaches great... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ... Like Aesop Rock. :P
i dont know your life but if you partake in the use of any hallucinogenic substances, take something and put this record on. it’s a religious experience.
This albums always been a favorite of mine. Don’t hear people talk about it half as much as they should.
Such an underrated album, not talked about often enough. Alt-J are a fantastic band
Such beautiful sounds on this project I had so much fun going through it
Alt-j often get written off as just another band from the early 2010s indie wave, but people forget how absolutely amazing they are at creating their own sound
Truly amazing
There’s no one else like them.
Taro is an absolute gem of a song!
Mannnnn what a track, hope your well brother
This album takes me back to college, great times driving around with my mates in a Nissan micra. We adored this album
their new album is a masterpiece
I feel like if you love these interesting and quirky sounds matched up with great craftsmanship, you’d love Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost Parts 1 and 2 by Foals. They’re so good for that style.
Thanks for the recommendation Aiden :)

Musically it’s so heartwarming
Bro, this is one of my favorite albums ever.

@@cavemanjack peak art rock, sadly I was just a few hours late on tickets for their shows down here

You should do the other albums too, great vid mate!
Would love to!
Alt-j live sounds like alt-j album. They are amazing live
I gotta agree
Saw them a couple of months ago and they are so solid live !!
A high school bop for me. You gotta check out their old KEXP performance (10 years or so ago, it's pretty highly viewed), it's incredible.
Cheers I will check it out :)
I used to listen to this album growing up after hearing “Fitzgerald” on a commercial one day. I wanna say it was Nike… but anyway 💁🏾♀️ im so glad to see it getting the love it deserves.
Such an incredible track
The first two alt j albums are honestly both 9/10s for me, and bloodflood 1 and 2 are some of my favourite songs of all time
Every single ALT-J song is good…every single effing one!
Such a fantastic band
