Jusr curious, most Chinese speak Cantonese? How did Alvin know to just speak Cantonese vs Mandarin?
Mandarin is major language in China Taiwan or to the Chinese ancestry (Like in Singapore Malaysia) Cantonese in other hand mostly speak in Guangdong region Hong Kong and Macau (And of course most Cantonese or Hong Konger in UK )
And how to distinguish it ? Simple
It’s like comparing British Commonwealth English with American English

If you notice in the other episodes Eric doesn’t show much anger frustration, happiness nothing. So he wasn’t emotional, that day was the day she saw him being emotional for the first time so she meant it differently
