What a wealth of knowledge! I’m starting to love gardening because of San Diego Seed Company 🙏🏼 Question: Is it too late to start onions from seed? I’m in Ventura County zone 9b. This will be the very first time I’m growing onions.
There are some differences (especially if you're in a really hot area), so these are general things for anyone in these zones, but each person will have to adjust according to their own garden & micro-climate
We are in South Orange County and was talking to my wife about how Oct 95 degrees is not as hot as July 95 degrees. Been gardening for a few years but this year, really noticed how the sun angle has changed now vs July. Your video explained both of these observations.
Very nice explanation of SoCal fall, and warm vs. cool season plants. Kudos for mentioning sun angle, intensity, and atmospheric path, as well as plant energy requirements for fruits vs leaves! Practical info plus a bonus science lesson!
Have you already planted your garlic?? I've got seed garlic all over my kitchen table ready to plant! It might as well be its' own food group in this house.
Pay attention to things like trees, building, fences, etc. that can cast shade, especially in the morning, afternoon, or depending on the time of year (ex. the south end of your property with a fence might get shaded in the winter).
@@SanDiegoSeedCompany yea, im trying figure out how to go about it. I see some on here ( you tube) talk about digging down for wells. Im just wondering do you know about that in zone 9 and 10? I do collect and conserve where its possible and reuse for the very small garden but would like a bigger one with alot more crops.
@@SanDiegoSeedCompany in the Quick-Glance Planning Chart under vegetables, it says "peas". Then in the month of October in the What to Plant in October under Veggies, it says "peas".
@@SanDiegoSeedCompany so would that go for sugar snap peas...plant them after the last heat waves, say late October or into November? Happy Birthday btw, great info in your videos thank you.
Happy birthday! We have 4 Rocktober birthdays in my family!
Wonderful explanation, thank you

Nope! Get 'em started :)
Hello, I live in Northern California in zone 9a, does that mean I can plant the same things too?
@vickys4431 Yes! They are from San Diego in Northern California as well!
@@supertrixie3029San Diego is in Southern California
Hi! I'm Nor Cal in 9B, her videos are for Zones 9 & 10
@@lifeisgood9175 I was just wondering cuz I know she’s in zones 9 & 10 but didn’t know if there was any difference cuz she’s down south.

So true! That and the humidity can make a big difference
You're a great teacher! Can I plant garlic now or wait until November?

Appreciate it!
I have so many SDSC sprouts for my first cool season garden!!! Germinating seeds never loses its wonder
Wahoo! Seeing those little sprouts is the best!
Potatoes are from Peru/Andes Mountians, they didn't show up in Europe until the mid 1500s; and to Ireland specifically in 1589.
How about the moon 🌚 phases???? Do you respect them?? I'm Aztec and I was wondering if you follow the ties???.😊

Love it! Haha. We like to plant on Halloween, but that's because we're weirdos :P
Couldn't see the writing on the chalk board. Love your personality
Ah, sorry. Got too excited! All the info is in the description too.
Should I be paying attention to where in my garden I plant, how do I tell what area is best.

Thank you for this ❤💚
Awesome! Me & my gf are just starting to work on our garden at our new place and we're both thankful we found you! Hbd Rock on 🤘🏽
Glad to have you here!
When do you start fava beans and garlic.
We like to do garlic on Halloween!
Gratitude for sharing the info, do try to grow fenugreek, purslane you can add too potato stir fry or with lentils, vgood for health.👍🌹
Happy birthday!
Thank you!
Love the way you broke it all down! Thank you!!!
Hey so is it ok to plant potatoes now because on the gardening calendar you guys sell it says you should start them in February
Some people like do a round now and then another in the late winter or early spring. We have so much flexibility in zones 9 and 10!
Happy Birthday whenever all month long🎉🎂🥳🎈🎁😽

Love planting.. gardening but water is soooo expensive and spiking even more soon.😥
Very true! Water capture helps a lot, but we also do things like save shower water, etc.

Your calendar shows to plant peas in October.
Are you looking at sweet peas or edible peas?

@@tammya236 yup! Just check the forecast before you put them outside. Sweet peas are a little more resilient.
