Thanks. Had the shop get in on my right headlamp thinking it would be a replacement, turned out the bulb was loose. Fixed for about a year, trying to figure out whether to try myself or take it in again
Good ol ballasts. I just ordered a new ballast for a Mercedes Benz S500 sedan. The guy replaced the entire lens from the boneyard but didn't save the old one with the ballast on it. Man
Does this vehicle in the video have the moving headlights? ya know where the headlights move with the steering wheel? dealership says i need to purchase entire headlight housing for 1800.00 just because the damn light is going bad (turning colors)
Yes the headlight moved left right. That's what went bad on mine every time you turn left it would blow the fuse. I ended up finding a used assembly on eBay for about 300 bucks. Some of the ears were broken but everything else worked fine I just glued it back together and installed it. I did not know that was my issue at the time of this video.
@@lowlidx50 Ok awesome, mine looks like its right on the edge of the year change, 2017, and still has the dust cover over where the bulb is, i looked at the 2018+ and they all look completely sealed LOL thank god, alright ima pull it off the car and see what bulbs it takes, thanks!
This is a bulb and ballast replacement. My initial issue was blowing fuses. This did not fix the problem. It was the little motors that turn the headlight left and right. I don't think the LED at the bottom or these electric motors are replaceable separately. You'd have to buy a whole headlight assembly as I did used.
I have a 2016 Lincoln MKS Looks the same bulbs i also have the head light motors. These newer cars are a pain so much work to replace a head light bulb dam i miss My 1987 Mustang GT Con'vt that was the most relialbe car ive ever owned 🌝
@@relaxingthesoulmind1879 we still have our 2013 MKS. She drives it daily. 2 weeks ago I did the water pump and timing chain. Wow what a job. Makes changing headlights easy LOL.
Why didn’t you show how the headlight comes out? It’s really not easy. You missed a lot of stuff in this video. You said what you did, and didn’t show how it was done. Next time, get a stand or have somebody help you. If you were going to post a video like this, don’t waste peoples time.
Sorry it didn't help you much. If it looks too complicated maybe you should take it to the dealership. Bumper removals pretty straightforward. Headlight removal was pretty straightforward. Hopefully there's some small details that help somebody.
@@lowlidx50Yes, your video was still a HUGE help! Also, removing the headlight itself was not overly challenging for me, so I’m not sure why that would be an area that would stump others. Knowing how to gain access to that area would’ve taken me forever to figure out and that’s by far where your video is a big help. Thank you for posting it!
@@lowlidx50 your video came up in my recommended because I have a 2014 Lincoln MKS. Thankfully I was able to change both of the headlights today myself WITHOUT removing the bumper or anything. Changing headlights on the 2009-2012 MKS is an expensive nightmare unfortunately like it is for your model years of the Continental. I did watch and appreciate you doing this video 💰💯
Man that's one heck of a head light buddy that's crazy how those work now so much different then old headlights great video bud

They make the simplest job of changing a headlight so much of a pain..

Does this fix both the daytime lights and the main bulb? Like the lights that curve under (_

Very helpful video thank you! I’m gonna replace mine tomorrow good luck to me 😁
Is this car reliable?
@@mohammedalzahrani2081 I only owned it for about 8 months
There has to be a way to do this without taking off the bumper.
No , you have to remove the headlight assy, to do that you must remove the bumper.
@@lowlidx50 that is nuts!

All of this JUST to change a headlight!!!??? Come on Auto Industry 😵💫
Yeah it's all uncalled for, there should be an access to change the freaking bulb.
