It's really cool and actually a good thing though, nowaday there are only games that is repeating on the front page in the platform like blox fruit, etc. . .I'd like to play something new others than those game on the front page too, creating a whole new experience from it.
Roblox templates have this one vibe I can't explain. Like Roblox is aiming for helping people make games but the aesthetic of their templates is just too odd in a weird way.
I‘m a little late but i was amazed because it was the exact thing i needed for my game. I used the platformer engine(?) and edited it: I added the bonking for rolling and diving also and i added some limits so you cant dash unlimetly when you’re in the air for a long time and so you cant perform some actions after another so it makes more sense. But i really like where Roblox is going with this but i agree with you what you’ve said in the other Template Videos, there should be more Tutorial Stuff for new people. But one thing i don’t like if you set the players WalkSpeed to 0 on the client you basically just disappear and the rendered stuff gets low Quality. But you do respawn its very weird and i cant really describe it that well.
They took my hecking job, i'm developing a platformer for over 6 months now and seeing this was really dissapointing Lol I made the moveset in like 2 months + I work on the game twice a week for like 3 hours, so dont be angry lol. (also I reworked the moveset around 3 times before I made it perfect) i made the double jump in the first Day, im Just upset that I Will see a gazillion bad platformer games
I thought about making games in roblox and investigated if the market is friendly. Sadly i came to the conclusion that its not. Maybe i am wrong? After gathering infos for one week from many places, it looks like there are many problems: its super hard to find players when you are not known. The top layer of succesfull games imitate each other . So everyone is doing the same. There is also not much diversity regarding genres as everyone copies each other just with some different assets like "oh look tower defense but this time with fnaf models". Most succesfull games are succesfull because of the reach or the marketing aka they had already fame since 2020 or earlier. There are many nice or good technically sophisticared games that no one plays. Some are even better than succesfull ones. Its easy to rip or steal game content and reupload it as its own. Which has happend and while the original game had a couple of thousand players in 4 years, the new stolen and uploaded version had like 50 mio. And roblox seems not to care about it. code injection and cheating seems to be very easy, breaking every competetive gameplay efforts. Also there are many possibilities to get flagged and banned by bots without any Chance to argue. So one small mistake and your game or your company is out 4ever. Also the game ui must be dumbed down for 5 year olds to have succes and thats why every game looks like a freemium mobile game. The overall monetazation looks quite predatory. Also the scale of IP infrigement is crazy and not trustworthy. Lego, minecraft, spongebob, fnaf everywhere. Am i wrong? Currently i think it makes way more sense to work in unity or unreal and publish to steam or other platforms
The take is a bit trivialized, but it mostly sums it up. If you want to just make and publish games, then steam or itchio would be much better platforms.
@@vystema I see your point, but it’s not always that easy (well for me) I’ve been looking for a tutorial to perfectly scale my UI since around 2023, it demotivated me to make my games because I couldn’t scale the UI.

Roblox really be stepping their game up

@@Sk8terr yea it's time for a new era for Roblox games to rise and hopefully it will come at this year or next year
this might make it possible for people with basic knowledge of scripting to be able to make a game thanks to these templates
I like the tilting the avatar does, would be a cool default thing on roblox
True, but maybe not for all games. Also the tilting was, like I said in the vid, one of the mechanics inspired by Find Everything.
"dash and jump immediately after" *ULTRAKIL-*
ULTRAKILL MENTIONED.
this template is Roblox's best
I don't mind the templates... I'm just gonna take the materials from them anyway.
that's really what template is for lmfao
wow roblox is actually cooking hard with these new templates recently🔥
True
No one has really thought about the limitless possibilities this truthfully brings to obstacle courses yet?

imagine using this as a temp for a fighting game

Can you change the background sound in the Platformer Template game?
I don't think it does have a background sound on its own, so you'd need to script your own logic.

Hmmmm you should do a UI scaling video so the UI scales perfectly on all devices
Just literally use scale instead of offset and constraints on special objects such as images…
