Sunset at Tanah Lot is an amazing natural spectacle which attracts a very large and steady stream of visitors from all over the world. It is located on a rocky island off the southwestern coast of Bali, the world famous island resort of Indonesia.
Tanah Lot is home to the ancient pilgrimage temple called Pura Tanah Lot. It is dedicated to the gods of sea or Bhatara Segara in local parlance. The temple is an iconic landmark known for its stunning beauty and unique architecture. The history of Tanah Lot temple dates back to the 15th century.
One of the most striking features of Tanah Lot is its location. It is situated on a rocky outcrop that juts out into the mighty Indian Ocean, and is surrounded by water at high tide. During low tide, visitors can walk across the sandy beach to the temple and explore the rocky island.
Tanah Lot offers breath-taking views of the Indian Ocean and is absolutely stunning during sunset, when the temple is bathed in the warm glow of setting sun.
The entry to the temple itself is strictly restricted, but the surrounding stunning natural beauty is more than enough to leave you breathless with awe and admiration.
We spent quite some time at Tanah Lot roaming around from place to place, enjoying repeated onslaughts of high waves of Indian Ocean, the stunning divine beauty of setting sun and large gathering of visitors of different colours and hues from all over the world. In fact it was an amazing display of visual grandeur and divine peace even in the middle of din and bustle of a popular tourist resort.
A trip worth retaining in our memory for a very very long time to come!
