The tall fellow in the black suit -- Legba -- was Robert Judd.
Great brief career actor. Didn't do much work. Not sure why. But he should have. He just reeks of being a great villain. He should've been in a John Wayne or Clint Eastwood film. Quite convincing. Died of stomach cancer before the movie Crossroads was even released (from what I've read). This was actually a wonderful film from start to finish.

I can't even remember how many times I've seen this clip but somehow it gets better each time. What I realize now is that Lucifer wasn't there for Willie... He came for the "real smart boy" as there was really nothing more that Willie had to offer. The boy on the other hand was a fresh new soul. The man who played Lucifer was masterful!

Robert Judd played Legba to perfection. You can just feel the menace oozing out as he walks up. This is one of those times in cinema when a small part in a movie, expertly done, makes a huge difference. Not so fun fact, Robert Judd died in January of 1986, two months before the premier of Crossroads.

Legba is the Haitian name for Elegua, (the Yoruba west African) God of the crossroads. A trickster, Christians told them he was the devil, so they syncretized him with the devil and kept worshiping him anyway. And then hundreds of years after black slaves were brought to the south, this story emerges, about a black musician meeting with the devil at the crossroads. Amazing how certain aspects of cultures survive.

Then you get shelved for the next hot act, while they own the rights to your music, aka your soul.. A promise of fame, and riches. But the only pay you get is someone saying "he's good" and the only fame you get is an article in the paper, maybe once or twice. I love this movie. It inspired me soo much, once upon a time. Me and friend of mine watched this movie back in the early 90's. we're both guitar players and aspiring songwriters. and we were so inspired by "Crossroads" that we wrote a song kind of similar to the plot of the movie. it it took us two days. On the 2nd night we were drinking Jack Daniels and after numerous frustrating recordings to get it right. We walked to the Graveyard which was not to far from my house in a misting rain. Our other friend who was also the lead singer of the band died in a car wreck and was buried there. we finished the bottle, and then left the picks we used to write the song. Under his tombstone, and walked home. Its still to this day. one of the best songs we've ever wrote together. wish we could have done something with it. RIP Pual.

There's been ALOT of epic Satan/Devil performances. BUT only a few were SPECIAL.
Robert Judd nails it & is right there with Viggo Mortensen~TheProphecy.
~~Constantine's peter stormare did a good job with an overly overt Satan.
Stormare is one of my fav actors.. He played an amazing Ernst Röhm
    in a Nazi movie..
~~RichMarzeni said it beautifully " The subtle undertones of rage and cruelty is hard for satan to mask for too long"
And Robert Judd showed that. You can see his malice and darkness along with greed & wit.. bravo!

When I was about 10 years old my grandma's brother Bill and I were sitting in the dinning room waiting for dinner. He picked up his guitar and said "let me show you something" and he played. Not songs just played. I listened to that and didn't say a word. But he could tell I liked it. Years later my mom gave me a folk guitar and a cord progression chart and I learned the fingerings and cord progressions. I didn't know how to play songs like House of the rising sun, or any of the others that my friends would play. So I was embarrassed, but when I played they never said anything so I thought I wasn't any good. I didn't know they couldn't just play music, they had to learn a song. I didn't know how good I was . I got in a car wreck when I was 26, had a stroke while I was in the hospital and someone stole my guitar. I'm 65 now, carpal tunnel syndrome and tendonitis, with some arthritis thrown in for good measure. But I still hear the music and I play in my head all the time. Devil be Damned!

Ralph Machio has been reprising his old characters. This is one Id actually love to see.
Lightning makes a bet, not really believing in anything, not taking it seriously.
He wins and beats the devil at a young age.
He realizes later on it is in fact all real, and he spends the rest of his life hounded by the devil.
Now He’s middle aged, and realized how close he cane to eternal damnation. He becomes a demon fighter, kind of like Constantine, and the old man that played the devil, reprises his role, via the really good deep fake and cgi they have now days. Steve Vai could also come back having fought hard to get a 2nd chance.
Ralph’s character wrote a book late 90s, and deemed a quack, will have to step up and save the world this time.
