I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel for 15 years before I had the surgery on my right hand, I was due to go back for the left after healing. My right hand did lose the carpal tunnel type pain, other pain continued and a year or two later my whole body swelled very rapidly with all joints affected and I was diagnosed with RA, at first sero negative for RF, later on hospital admission they tested and found me very high anti ccp positive. I never went back for the left hand surgery as it seemed pointless, my hands are mostly useless now. I’ve recently had the injection and that helped massively. Both carpal tunnel and rheumatoid arthritis run in my family

By injection, do you mean hydrocortisol?
I'm from the UK and wondering if this is some new medication we've yet to learn of this side of the pond.

@@billyandrew yeah I believe it was a steroid injection the needle went in at the wrist and almost reached my index finger but boy it’s helped me almost more than the surgery did! I’m in uk too x

I really wish a doctor would just take a chance and diagnose with seronegative rheumatiod. At one point I had a positive RF and a positive ANA, negative ccp. But now everything is negative, but I have ulnar deviation in both hands, especially the right hand. My bone scan shows arthritis, in both hips, entire SI joint, both collarbones, both shoulders, both wrist but its almost two years old. My elbow hurt, I have arthritis in my entire neck c2-c7. knees hurting more than ever, ankles hurt. But the worse part is my right hand. My dominant hand. I'm 36 and I feel like 66. My hands already look arthritic. I'm afraid by the time I'm 40, I'm not going to be able to do hardly anything with my hands. I wish they would just proceed with treatment. I wake up stiff, during the day I have stiffness, and at night I have stiffness. I workout, I cut out sugar, no fast food, no fried food. I'm miserable.

The collarbones and spinal are more likely osteoarthritis, rather than rhuematoid.
I also get it in my jaws, too.
I hear the potato family (tomatoes, eggplant, etc) are contributing factors.
I haven't yet encountered any in-depth research to back this up, but that's maybe something of the general nonsense put out by fools or something that lab research will bear out.

My story is almost identical to yours! I had to get a second opinion from another rheumatologist and was just diagnosed with seronegative inflammatory arthritis. We just started a DMARD medication and I’m starting to feel some relief. Keep pushing for answers!

Why don't you start DMRD with HCQS 200, Sazo 1gm, methotrexate 7.5 to 15 mg weekly, calcium with vitamin K2 or Calcimax K2 od, and of course atorvastatin 40 to ward off vasculitis? I am 66 RA positive and has been on these medications for last 30 years and still active.

I am a surgeon and treat myself as I found most treatment s by physicians to be very conservative.
First of all leave smoking and excessive red meat as prevalent in Western society. Take fruits and fish instead

I'm just getting ready to start this same medication and although I have some risk factors to taking it my rheumatologist told me that I had to fail on this one and a ton of othersin order for insurance to cover a newer one. I have chronically elevated liver enzymes and he said those could go up. I am not very secure about this given the fact that my case is not optimal for it and yet he didn't even want to talk about newer possibly safer drugs on the market because he didn't think insurance would cover them. I hope I will not have to suffer through a bunch of bad side effects on too many different drugs before something less risky to my organs will be covered. I am curious what percenyage of patients have you found have nausea and vomiting on this drug?

    • @billyandrew
      @billyandrew 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I was told one my particular course of meds would induce nausea and vomiting.
I decided to eat a full meal at least two hours before, so that, at the least, I would not be dry-heaving.
Had a little bit of nausea the first few times of taking it, then nothing.
It's been a year, since you posted your comment, but thought I'd post this, in case it was of any assistance to others now finding themselves in a similar situation.

I imagine the doc won't suggest medication or treatment for professional and legal reasons.
May I suggest you research the condition, treatments, then discuss them with your own specialist.
Write a list of any questions you have and go over them with your doctor, writing down their replies, as it's all too easy to forget what has been said.
If you are unsure of any point get the doctor to clarify, so there are no misunderstandings at a later point.
Spellings are important, too, so don't be afraid to ask, as this will help in any future research into your condition/s.
