Writer-director Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird) has crafted a Little Women that draws on both the classic novel and the writings of Louisa May Alcott, and unfolds as the author’s alter ego, Jo March, reflects back and forth on her fictional life. In Gerwig’s take, the beloved story of the March sisters - four young women each determined to live life on her own terms -- is both timeless and timely. Portraying Jo, Meg, Amy, and Beth March, the film stars Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen, with Timothée Chalamet as their neighbor Laurie, Laura Dern as Marmee, and Meryl Streep as Aunt March.

As someone who’s been sick for a long time (chronic illness) I have really learned who I am and it’s made me look at life differently. I look up to Beth so much. I have never related to a character as much as her before.

I love both old and new version of this movie, they have their own strengths. The only critique though, Tim was a bit young to be Laurie. But he did great in the movie so I guess there's no problem with that? Hehehe 😁

Casting Florence Pugh as Amy was a big mistake. The scenes of her and as a child were ridiculous! A thirty year old woman who sounds like a chain smoker wearing fairy wings, burning Jo’s manuscript, one page at a time, making a cast of her foot for Laurie, scrunching up her face in an effort to look like a little girl crying…it was enough to make one’s skin crawl. The 1994 version was pure magic. This remake was terrible.

Florence isn't even 30 today. She was like 22 or 23 when they made the film. And I personally think she did a wonderful job as Amy. She pitched her voice while playing her younger self with child like hyper energy and then brought in so much calm playing the older Amy. You can have a prefernce but saying Florence did a bad job is just objectively incorrect.

I don't think that's a fair criticism considering that the only flaw in her performance was her own voice (which she can't physically change). Everything else, from the way she spoke, the way she acted, and her facial expressions and mannerisms imitated that of a child's in the film.

amy march revisionism will be the death of me, she is vapid - just because vapidity is a misogynistic idea doesn't make it any less unfavourable. it is inconceivable to me how contemporaries can relate to a girl who was already old fashioned IN THE VICTORIAN ERA!!!

"just because my dreams are different than yours does mean they're unimportant" seems a message attached to amy as well as meg and that is frustrating.

@@pooperscooper002 the message is true whether you like it or not.
Btw, don‘t you remember what Amy said about marriage? She is definitely not vapid.
