All jokes aside, you need to locate in an area with a large community of GI Bill eligible veterans. Why? Flight school is expensive, and the typical young student doesn't have the financial assets to attend. The GI Bill will pay for flight school at a VA approved flight school... So, become a VA approved facility, and locate in an area with a large community of GI Bill eligible veterans... Fayetteville NC, Clarksville TN, Columbus GA, etc. And although you can't offer a degree program, you CAN associate with a degree offering Institution to offer aviation training through the College.
@@SaintChesty This sucks too lol! He is already a Part 141 school which is part of the VA funding process. They have a time requirement in order to become VA eligible through the FAA also....some other things. PPL needs to be paid for if someone is in a program that takes them up to Commercial.... my license is costing a few bucks lol, but Liberty University and the VA have the rest after that.
@@SaintChestythat is incorrect sir. VA is covering my ppl all the way up to my commercial and CFI. This is of course through a college degree program but all is covered by my post 9/11 gi.
If there was a program as a tract for a graduate degree at an actual university, my employee tuition benefits could pay for $20k/year of flight training. Even better if the ground portion is online and the flight portion is 2-3 weeks focused flying to fit in vacation time.
I still have the receipts and notes from when I got my PPL back in the 80’s. $2340 from lesson 1 all the way to the check ride using the airports C152 for most of it. Toward the end I started flying the 172. I couldn’t imagine doing it today.
Yes all me i have been watching ICON since 2012 and all they have done is make money vanish they just went bankrupt $170mil in debt 🔥💲🔥and for what an under powered overweight over priced plane .🤷♂️🫣
Great to see you are growing. I've been a fan since your first interviews at Sun and Fun or Oshkosh. You were very green but enjoyable to watch. Can't wait to see where you go from here
Starting any business is very difficult, most of the hardest work are in the first 2 years of a business. The new owner will not have to deal with all the problems with starting up a business. Best of luck to all involved.
For any small business owner, I think the hardest thing to do is to expand. Multiple locations seem like a natural way to go, but it takes at least twice as much work, not less. It’s counterintuitive for most entrepreneurs. Good decision and best wishes!
I have been following Mike for a few years. I so hope he succeeds in his dream. Lol i buy powerball tickets all the time and have a silly habit of "what i would do if i win." All the usual responsable things i guess but a lust of people and things i care deeply about. I am almost 68 so i am not making any 20/30 year plan and think i would end up giving most of it away. But Mike's dream is on my list!! I would give him enough to secure alot of resources for him and remove any debt i could within reason. I used to have my pilot rating, had a 1956 cessna 171 back in '87 and '88 but i sold it like an idiot🤣 and in 1992 i had a heart attack right after my 36th birthday and never renewed my medical certificate. But i do think about flying all tbe time. This is a worthy cause in my mind and i wish him the very best!!!
Aviation is an enormous business to make a way in, and I commend you for every step you've taken to stay positive and move forward! I've loved your videos so much!
Leisure management, REALLY, I applaud you, for everything you've achieved thus far!!!!. Your journey is one to follow, but one must never fly without full attention to what's going on around you, as you well know. Please keep your talent to detail and sharing it with us alive and well. Success grows advanced as achievement gives greater responsibility to those willing to bear it and move on to the next challenging adventure. To the next owner, Your dream is about to come true and your future to share it with many others will add more properly trained pilots on the ground and in the air. What an opportunity you're sharing!!!!! Keep flight safe and doable is a winning combination we need a whole lot more of. ❤❤❤ Please keep sharing your awareness of flight✈️ alive and well!!!
I do miss your videos. But, I also knew you were starting the new flight school. It's exciting you're at a position where you can pivot and move upward from here! Good luck!
Awesome !!! Congratz Mike ! You are creating value! I hope the right person/organization will pick up the NC hanger. Keep the course! You are an Inspiration !
Always impressed with your out of the box planning and proformance ,very interesting move great opportunity for the right person. Good luck on your future endeavor although luck is not necessary my best wishes for your Success 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
First, the man tried to sell aviation. Then he spent years selling planes on the channel. Now he's trying to sell a flight school. I predict that in 5 years he will try to sell us an airline.
These are the type of Planes my cousin Trained in. He owned a Helo, wanted to be a Pilot, joined the Army, became a Blackhawk pilot, got picked up by a Top Airline, they paid for his Training & made it to Captain. All of those goals in only 10 years from owming a R44 to Commercial Captain. Truly amazing.
Question: Doesn't seem like anyone could break even until 20 years down the line...initial purchase price + expenses must far outweigh returns for decades.
Why not make the other flight school a co-op and then have the workers pay you back as a loan? That way your workers don't lose their income, you get your money back, and the location continues getting students.
My dream is to own a flight school one day and combine training to real world application train in slings or similar until instrument and the. Get students into high performance airplanes for commercial - offering added training to get them above the average low hour pilot - doing real long cross country, at all kinds of elevations with O2, with ice in the flight levels, while working on their CFI etc then offering jobs to those who go through- paying them decent wages to teach those who will be flying their families one day. If I was just a little more well off- I’d swoop in so fast. Maybe in a few years! I wish you luck in your endeavors Being a flight instructor for FAA and EASA- I love to see people passionate about their schools and their aviation dreams!
You described a very expensive brick and mortar footprint. You said you have hanger and many office rooms. I know how expensive that is at an airport. This has to be tacked on to the hourly rate for rentals. I don't see how this business makes a profit. Also, you can't do complex, high performance, multi-engine ratings. How can you get a commercial in a light sport? Also, amazing job you've been able to accomplish with this business.
Good luck with your new expansion Mike you guys are making peoples dreams come true thanks for your hard work and your dedication and determination I’ve always wanted to fly since I was a teenager.
If you happen to sell inventory let me know. My friend and I are going through a part 141 out of KFTY but looking to buy our own aircraft to keep moving forward. Thanks and good luck in Atlanta!
I hope to be one of your students in the near future when i leave Chicago behind after buying a handful of properties!! 💪🏿 Congrats brother, keep evolving!!
I always said I had a dream to start a small flight program. That is, however, conditional upon hitting the lottery. I've followed your channel for years and wish you much success with your future goals.

Va doesn't cover PPL. You get that on your own, they will pickup the rest.

How do you make a small fortune in aviation? Start out with a big one….
That was my first thought also.
Sir Richard Branson said that 😊
Thats what ICON did
🔥💲🔥
lol. You come up with that !? Good one !!
Yes all me i have been watching ICON since 2012 and all they have done is make money vanish they just went bankrupt $170mil in debt 🔥💲🔥and for what an under powered overweight over priced plane .🤷♂️🫣
The credit does not go to the critics….the credit goes to the man in the arena-Theodore Roosevelt. Nicely Done ✅
i bet you dollars to doughnutz...the credit is going to the bank...!!!

Come To Florida
Tampa or Miami area you’ll love it here and we’ll definitely love you here as well ready to fly!
This is a great set up for the right person. In my area you have a hard time renting because so many students are booking the airplanes.

Well done 👏🏿 ✔️ the journey has been a pleasure to watch and hope you get the right buyer.
I want to get my license but it’s so expensive! My dream is to become a pilot and own my own plane or helicopter. It’s challenging though 😢
I wish you well with this!
Proud of you and your journey in life. Much continued good luck to you!!!
Well that's surprising news; Mike, that business is "taking off"😂
🌏🇦🇺
mo money,mo money,mo money...equals no money,no profits......fly away la la la la
Do your own research, Mike will only be selling this cause its loosing money. Be careful.
Due diligence
Good luck with your new expansion Mike you guys are making peoples dreams come true thanks for your hard work and your dedication and determination I’ve always wanted to fly since I was a teenager.
Buy a FBO and sell fuel. That's where the money is in general aviation.
If you happen to sell inventory let me know. My friend and I are going through a part 141 out of KFTY but looking to buy our own aircraft to keep moving forward. Thanks and good luck in Atlanta!
I wish you the best.
Love your channel good Luck!
Ya you will do better with one location. ATL get a job with DAL and have your fly school be your side gig 😊
I hope to be one of your students in the near future when i leave Chicago behind after buying a handful of properties!! 💪🏿 Congrats brother, keep evolving!!
With the goal of 1,000 only 980 to go!
I thoroughly enjoy your content. When does the flight school in the ATL open up? That's where I'm located!
Best wishes.
Good luck, I enjoy your channel and challenge.
What's the price of the flight school, how many planes, who does the maintenance? In house or outside?
Me: looking for a plane under $10k
Also me: Maybe I should see if I can afford to buy the flight school
Business is bumming ❤
I have been working on my CFI for a while, I would love to work for you. I keep my motorglider at Gwinett.
I'm a little confused by your tactics. If this school is doing well why sell?
Man if I had the capital I would take this in a heartbeat
I always said I had a dream to start a small flight program. That is, however, conditional upon hitting the lottery. I've followed your channel for years and wish you much success with your future goals.
Where in Atlanta are you located? I’m in Atlanta and I’m thinking about getting my private license. Would love to train under you.
Your doing great
Was there anybody that didn't see this coming from the day they heard about it?
So, I have a dream - maybe some day it will be people like him who are celebrated on the news, not criminal thugs.
Whishing you the very best
Great job
Good job
Hustler, nothing more nothing less.
Watching from Nigeria
Interested to tour both locations.
aviation is always marginal business..it is more a low paying hobby
Only thing of value is the physical assets, building, planes etc.. very tough business
Are you hiring CFIs for the LZU location?
😢 So sorry to see you have to close.
WoW!!
I’m a CFI looking for a job, I will keep an eye out to apply for your flight school! Any information let me know!
You’re not allowed to say cockpit anymore.
Right when I was about to start taking lessons 🤦🏾♂️
Why are you selling your flight school?
Is your flight school still in operation?
I would love to be a student there
