    Southern Ireland is beautiful, Dublin is very touristy but you have to go to say you have been. Thank you so much, look forward to your videos so much and the dogs xx

      I want to try a bike ride through the southern part of Ireland - it just looks so beautiful! And good to know about Dublin lol. I feel like that's how most capitals are.

    I've been to Ireland several times and love it! The history, people, pubs, and scenery are amazing! On our last trip we went to the village where my husband's grandmother grew up before she emigrated to America. Ireland is near and dear to our hearts and I highly recommend a visit.

    Ireland and Scotland are definitely on my bucket list!! I used to read a ton of Maeve Binchy when I was in college. Tara Road, The Quentins, Light a Penny Candle were some of my favorites.

    • @librariesandlabradors
      @librariesandlabradors  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Omg Scotland too.... ugh both beautiful countries! So many more Scottish than Irish books on my shelves too, I should do a video on those! And good to know about Maeve Binchy!

    I’ve been on a weekend tour of Southern Ireland in college, amazing! Maeve Binchy - I think her best known is Circle of Friends, which has a movie too. I own Tara Road but haven’t read it yet, my mom did recently and liked it, concept like the movie Holiday. I’m currently reading London by Edward Rutherfurd, it’s a long slow background read for me, but mostly enjoying it. I do like how he uses fictional characters to write history, some are more interesting than others. Long chapters though, be warned!

    I really need to read more Amy Harmon after loving From Sand and Ash so much! It was good to see a book from her on this list! 🧡 I'm still loving the Normal People show so much too! I've seen up to the first college episode so far. It's really good! 🙂 Love all your recommendations, Melissa!

    Ireland is my No. 1 place I would love to travel, so I've made note of most of your books. I've read one or two of Maeve Binchy's books, but it was years ago and I don't remember anything to tell. I read an article about her - probably written when she passed away, but both she and her husband were writers. Thanks for all the recommendations.

    • @librariesandlabradors
      @librariesandlabradors  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So glad I could give you some good recommendations. Ireland is top 5 for me. Want to go SO BAD! And that's cool about Maeve Binchy, I had no idea her husband wrote too. That's awesome.

    I love Maeve Binchy books-have read Light a Penny Candle, Quentin’s, Tara Road, Scarlet Feather and others. Have read Echoes and must admit it’s my very least favorite of hers, partly because of its semi-sad ending. To me it’s just not the typical heartwarming Binchy I love, won’t re-read.

    Love Maeve Binchy and have read most of her books, but Echoes to me is somewhat atypical in that its ending is semi-sad, my least favorite of hers. I loved Light a Penny Candle, Quentin’s, Scarlet Feather and others.

      "Collum Toe-bean" actually. Many rural Irish people would pronounce that first name as 'Cullum'
