As a truck driver hear in the USA for 40 + years I do tend to prefer less chrome accents especially around the gages due to when you get the sun glistening on them it irritates my eyes and trying to drive that way isn't ideal. The chrome without a doubt does make it looks nice. Just makes my eyes water trying to drive.
I had a chrome gas cap on my first bike and on sunny days the sun reflected off of it into my eyes and I had to keep my left hand over it to be able to see, so I understand blacking out some parts.
Look at it this way Stu, you will not become 'dazzled', possible running off the road, by the bright sunlight reflecting off the chrome work...Ha, Ha! thats the big red orbe in the sky sometimes visible in Yorkshire..
This morning I found that the horn on my Triumph sounds like a ''strangle chicken'', no amount of 'fiddling' will make it work correctly, probably means a new unit....That'll teach me to take the P**** out of your lack of sunshine.
I’m with you Stuart, I like chrome. I have a Speedmaster and wish it had the twin clocks that are on the T-120 or at least some chrome around the speedometer. Maybe you can give Motone a hint for another product 😊
Hello Stuart, as you are no doubt aware, Harley-Davidson owners love blacking out their Steeds to give them the "Dark Custom" look. It has been popular with H-D owners since the XL1200N "Nightster" was rre;leased to the public in 2007. When I took early retirement from from work in 2015, I started customising my own XL883N "Iron" with chemically blackened stainless steel fasteners. I bought the black fasteners from a local specialist wholesale supplier, I must admit I liked the blacked out look that the fasteners gave and at that time sobody was selling black stainless fastener kits for H-D models. I came to an arrangement with the supplier that he'd sell me black stainless fasteners in UNC and UNF threads so that I could make up kits to sell on eBay to any H-D owners wanting to blacken out their Harley. There are now a number of others selling black stainless fasteners for H-D's but nobody sells as wide a range as I do. I can supply various items from a complete engine bolt and screw kit to a handlebar clamp kit and almost anything in between. I won't sell stainless fasteners for highly stressed components like brakes and the drivetrain, stainless is just too brittle by nature for those items and could fracture without warning. The black out brigade have been good to me by buying my kits for several years now and I have many loyal customers, I know that what comes around, goes around, so eventually the blacked out look will loose it's popularity and the chromed look will be the in thing again. As long as my customers want to buy black stainless fasteners, I'll continue to supply them with what they want.
Just received my Peerless. Beautiful, perfect execution with one major surprising advantage. Without the chrome bezels reflecting on the glass gauges, suddenly I can read my gauges perfectly. Worth the price for that alone. We get a lot of sun here in Thailand so the matte black absorbs the sun and eliminates the reflections. Plus this is a mod I can look at any time I'm riding. Great job Motone and thanks Stuart for the video.
@@mbrunskill Not sure, I can check the size later today. Strange, but when I used a diffrent screw and fit the item tight, I could change to the original screw easily.😅
I understand your thoughts on ‘blacking out’, but I do like the look of this and think it adds another dimension. I also love the brass accoutrements, which I think really give a different look to a black bike! 👍
Nice item, saw it on their website recently when I ordered the brass Monza cap using that lovely discount code (just got a notification it shipped today). Think I'll pass on the Peerless though, the chromed bezels on the T100 are nicer in my view.
that bezel is a work of art any dishing and it would not sit flat ; slightly of topic i brought a 2016 T120 6 weeks ago for the last 2 weeks has been back to the dealer to have the entire wiring loom replaced been out this weekend and done 200 miles on it and it's like a different bike no popping in the exhaust and hesitant pick up around town are you intending to get yours back on the road soon ride safe
Don’t worry Stuart, your taste is perfectly alright. I can’t see the point to make everything black either. But give the people what they want. Will you make a video again of your old Triumph T 100 which you seem to have forgotten? I would appreciate some ideas how to personalise it. Thanks again for your video 👍🏻
The Monza fuel cap looked really good on your Bullet. I think they were built for each other. I’m not so sure about the bezel trims though. Superb engineering but I too like bling. It would look good on the Bonneville Black editions though.
Hi Stuart, whilst watching this video I heard you mention your discount code. I have just had a reminder from Motone that their Tank Pads had just come into stock. I used your code and saved myself £5.49😁 Thank you very much. So very soon my new Interceptor (same colour as yours) will have these on. I will also use the advice for fitting from your video. Thanks again, keep the vids coming, I look forward to them👍
What we could do with is something like this with integral eye brows . When the sun is out I cant read my clocks on the T120. Something to think about!!!
Great looking product will suit by T120 Black 2018. Just gone on the website and bought them together with throttle body covers. Cheers for the discount code, covers the postage to Australia. Should stop me trading in the T120 which I was toying with after a couple of years.
If the manufacturer meant for the black bezel to be available, they would have made it themselves.... Then charged 6 times the price of motons version. I would love to put some upgraded parts on my Triumph trident, but Triumph believes their levers, seats and mirrors are made of gold.
My first ride on my new bike, and the sun was reflecting on the chrome gauges and half blinding me when trying to read them. Looks like this will fix that annoyance.
Stuart, another like minded soul here. I like chrome & shiny brass bits, tastefully done & in moderation. The whole “BBQ kettle black” thing is lost on me. I’m pretty sure it started over here with the HD sub culture. Blacked out bikes being ridden by guys with a three day stubble & perpetual scowl is their marketing campaign. Please encourage Motone to ramp up the brass line for the Triumphs. They’re all but impossible to find over here…
Not a big fan of the murdered-out look myself (my new Vespa GTS SuperTech, which I hopefully pick up tomorrow, doesn't have much chrome as it is), but that custom bezel *does* look rather cool, especially since it does leave a sliver of chrome visible.

Ah, but this is Britain, and, although it's sunny today, this is the first time since WW2. I'm going to make the most of it.

Instrument cluster cover is brilliant

Uncle Stut, thanks but I stick to the chrome bezel, even if I don't own a Triumph 😂. Cheers

I'm also not a fan of covering chrome with black. But the peerless might look good in brass.

Did u had problems to tighten the item,- It’s almoust like the screw is to short. (A bit enoying…)
@@vegardguldbrandsen1344 I'm having the same trouble, gonna have to buy a longer bolt
@@mbrunskill i did the same thing.👍
@@vegardguldbrandsen1344you wouldn't happen to know what size you bought, seems to be an M3 but I'm wondering what length is suitable

Black bezel is good idea in bright sunlight Stuart
You can always leave it on the T100
Another great product by motone and great review by you.

That's a nice looking thing, totally transforms the look.
I do agree with you about liking the chrome trim, I think chrome tastefully added looks really good. I quite like it
Nice one Stuart, looks pretty cool...
Another peerless video.

Love Motones work 👍
We'll have to agree to disagree on the matte black ! 😁

Yes agree, black bolt would complete the picture.
Brilliant video as always Stuart and the “peerless” is a very nice looking item indeed and looks good when fitted 😃👍🏻

Back to Triumph now Uncle Stuart!
There are very good Chrome spraycans on the market maybe thats an opion?
The Peerless part looks very good. Always good to hide chrome.

Love the Monza fuel cap, but why cover the bright work with something that in my opinion that cheapens the look of the clocks?!
I’m not a fan of matte black either, but I think the Peerless looks great. I am leaning toward the Bonneville black gold line edition as well…
Love the quality of Motone accessories, however this one is wasted on me as I am a firm believer in shiny bits!
Bought one of these and it won't screw down, the bolt doesn't seem long enough, anyone else had issues?
Paint it gold :)
It looks nice, but the chrome screw looks a little incongruous. That would look better black as well.
Just sand it a bit and paint with 800c matt black did quite a few bits on my bike that way.Durable finish and dry's in minutes with hair dryer.
Would be nice if you could also advise the prices in the video would be helpful
No that would be out of date in time. that's why I leave links.
I'm with you, I like chrome on vintage style bikes. That black trim thing takes away from that bike, in my opinion, anyway
would fit great on my T100 Black
yep, just ordered one for my T100 Black, i must have it😄
What a lovely made item that fuel cap is. I doubt one will fit my Kawasaki Z900rs. Isn’t it about time you treat yourself to a nice RE key ring? 😉
Be careful. My custom man Cerakoted my stock dial rims on my T100 and now I have condensation issues on the glass around 7c and below.
That's normal on these clocks.
Black if not powder coated. It shouldn't be near classic retro looking bikes. I don't like this item but credit the well put video.
