    Fantastic video! Even 2 years later, this was so helpful to me! I had a basic understanding of what a knife tool does but I had no idea how versatile it was! The more I use Design Studio, the better I like it. Thank you for the awesome tutorial!

    Oh goodness. I never thought to use my knife tool on a font and sometimes I spend hours looking for letters that work like I want it to. Game changer. I’ve had my silhouette for a few years yet....you teach me something new every time I watch you (which is often). Thank you so much!!!

      Too bad some of the font designers don't think about using them as a stencil and provide that as an option. I guess if you purchase the font, you could always take the time and use a font maker/editor and permanently make a stencil font file from the original.

    Oh wow! I wish I’d seen this video before I spent a large chunk of time trying to add a swirl to a letter that didn’t have a glif. I finally got it made, but these skills would have made life so much easier. Thank you SO much for this tutorial! I’ve already saved it to my reference playlist, and I know I’ll be watching it again many times.

    Hi Becky, this was so helpful! I’m hoping you can help me. I am soooo frustrated trying to figure out something in Silhouette Studio Business Edition. I’m fairly new to all this and I can’t seem to find the answer online. So, I’m trying to cut feather earrings out of wood on my Glowforge. The feather SVG I’m using is the perfect shape and I haven’t found anything better, but it has a line down the center (the quill part) that is open to the end , which would not allow me to put the earring hole at the top of the earring. I need to close the end of the line, essentially close off and fill in a portion of the top of the earring (but keep part of the line so it still has the quill part of the feather. Then it needs to become all one shape to be able to cut. I don’t know if I’m explaining this right but if you get what I’m saying can you please tell me how I can achieve this? I spent 3 hours last night trying to figure it out and I would get it to look right but then when I put it into Glowforge it showed all my modifications as cut lines. Ugh. Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated and thanks for your time! (I’m a Design Bundles user by the way, have gotten so many beautiful files there!👏🏻👏🏻)

    You did it again! Did a video just as I was needing to or just beginning to learn a Studio tool or sublimation technique! I watched this video on my TV just hours after it came out! Just hours before the video came out, I was really figuring out WHY I needed to learn the knife. I had bought a design from Design Bundles and needed to separate out the Dachshund graphics! :) I finally decided knife tool might be the best way in Studio, didn't want to deal with PhotoShop 9 first! I love that you showed more knife tips that it would have taken me forever to notice!
    The tip to make a font (or shape) a STENCIL font, THANK you! I actually had downloaded some stencil fonts because I wanted to change up a word shape I had to make it a stencil so it would be EASIER to use the negative part on another shirt. When I'm using thicker HTV like flock HTV, glitter HTV or Holographic HTV, I like to weed it so that I can use the negative and if I "stencil" it, I don't have to kill myself NOT losing the insides of letters! I don't know if you remember me but you know me from the CC FB group. And it is all your fault I went from I'd like to do sublimation some day to getting an EPSON ET-2720 printer for Christmas! :)
    Oh, and now I have to go on Design Bundles to find those penguins! I adore penguins!
    Only problem, got to figure out WHY sometimes it doesn't cut all the way across, like in a lower case "e". It leaves an unbroken part on the "inside" part of the e...

    I have the designer edition. I can make lines with the knife. However, they stay lines and there no individual pieces that can be separated. Am I missing a step or do I need to select something somewhere in preferences?

    • @DesignBundles
      @DesignBundles  ปีที่แล้ว

      You'll want to make sure you are cutting all the way through and no pieces are still touching or they will not come apart. - Brittany

    Maybe you can help with this. I have a crosshairs inside of my pointer and if I am not careful when moving something, a red line appears and follows the move. I looked at the crosshairs and that's not selected. It is also micro sized, not like your crosshairs which are huge.
