    HNY Mags. I'm 'Winter Sowing' & have sown appx 100 different seeds in milk bottles, mainly edibles but some flowers, such as alyssum, lobelia, pansies, wallflowers & salvia. Since using this method, I've had huge success! Be blessed mx

    Hi Mags 👋
    Some great seed sowing advice here. People do forget that most seeds need warmth to germinate and can take up an awful lot of space if you're starting at home.
    I've yet to go through my seed box and packets to decide what I'm starting off in January.
    Happy seed sowing!
    Happy New Year to you and family 🎉 ❤ x

    Happy New year to you Mags, thankyou for your informative video, I'll be sowing onions, peppers, chillies, and aubergines this weekend, but after your video I might just do some tomatoes as well now!
    Have a great season, Tilly 🤗

    Happy new year Mags, as a new gardener starting midway through last year, I’m really looking forward to my first full year.
    Vermiculite is one of the things I learnt about last year and think it’s great for the seed sowing mix and putting on top as you say, really helps with the water retention and stops the top from crusting over.
    I have my onions in and am looking forward to taking part in Jasons Chile challenge, as I’ve never grown them before, I will also be doing a second sowing of my own saved seed sweet peas.
    Looking forward to seeing more videos from you outside, always love the backdrop of the mountains.
    Take care, Pete.

      @ Just got to try and remember not to plant too much and then find I can’t look after it properly. 👩‍🌾😂👍

    Hi Mags, lovely to see what you are planning to sow. I have sown some Ailsa Craig and Kelsea onion seeds and some chilli plants already and they are going well under the grow lights. I am hoping to sow a few more ailsa Craig onions along with a different variety of onions that were sent to me. I am also going to set off my pepper seeds and aubergine seeds later in the month as I struggled with them growing too quickly last year and then stunting so I thought I'd be more restrained this year 😂
    I don't have much luck with sweet peas in the past but I'm going to give them a go this year because I think they would look nice in my allotment. Take care and catch up soon 😊

      Hiya Bethan. Are you doing the giant onion challenge? I renaged and have ordered some chilli seeds 🥴. I love Sweetpeas. Can’t get enough of them. All the best. Mags.

      @ No I’m not doing the onion challenge, I didn’t know I would have my allotment when it started so I didn’t think I would have the space. I don’t do very well in these challenges, did Digwell’s SSPC once, worst crop I’ve ever had 😂
      I’m not surprised you changed your mind, I always say I’m not growing something and end up giving it one final chance 😂 We like our challenges don’t we 😊

    Try the Chilli challenge! Grow a long one using Joe's Long Cayenne. Makes growing chillies fun and cayenne chillies make great jam.

      Onions - nice! Which varieties are you going for? We are heading for a cold snap over the coming days - well, cold for us. Will be getting to -7c overnight - brrrr.

      @RobinGardens 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@mycountrygardenchannel Well just had a look at the long range weather. Temps are now better. The low is 10f/-12.2c. 50% chance of snow, with possible accumulations of 1" overnight.
      I'm going to do Patterson, Walla Walla, Red of Florence (bulbed great last year), Kelsae and Ailsae for the challenge on Pete's channel. Might get an order in for my Red Ruby because they store so well also. I
      ❤ alliums!!!

      Lol Jason. How many dozen chilli varieties you doing this year? Here’s a question for you. If I was to grow chillies this year, what variety would you suggest that is mild and flavoursome?

    • @Allotment-of-the-Dead
      @Allotment-of-the-Dead 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@mycountrygardenchannel I would go for any of the Cayenne types, but if you want a really good mild one, go for one of the Space Chillies. Really tasty. A favourite of mine from last year was Aji Norteno though, again very flavoursome!
