When the news about Anna's departure came, my first thought was: 'It would be great if the woman from those covers would join them' and I went back to watching your covers. Your stage presence is more than fine! I was at an Eluveitie show last year and you looked like you really belonged on that stage.

Actually, Eluveitie is my favourite band for a few years and I recently received my "cheap-not-so-cheap hurdy gurdy" that I'm trying to play (no real previous experience in music). Love your videos! Greetings from Québec!

I was a long time fan of the hurdy gurdy already, so thanks for shining the spotlight on the amazing instrument! We need people like you who play songs or pieces on that suit these lesser-known instruments well. It's been years since I started contemplating how Hallowed be Thy Name would sound on the hurdy gurdy, good thing you made the combo real.

My favorite Hurdy Gurdy maker is Helmut Gotschy. He makes a composite gurdy - PHOENIX ABRAXAS ($3500) , that can play in any environment and stays in tune! Jenny from OMNIA plays this model. Thats awesome that Michalina makes gurdies....thats the best way to learn the instrument 100%

When I saw Eluveitie last year in Houston, Texas (thank you for coming here!) I didn't think it would be the last concert I saw for over a year! Stupid Covid19. I hope to see you again! Our dumb government upped the cost of a visa so don't hesitate to crowdfund that. We want to see you again when it's safe.

Regarding to soundtracks, I really recommend you to listen to the soundtrack of "Zelda - The Majora's mask" and "Zelda - Ocarina of Time" and at last "Opus: The day we found Earth".

It's a little sad that the hurdy gurdy is so expensive, even the cheapest ones. I think that availability would improve the (in my opinion way to low!) prominence of this amazing instrument by alot.

To this day, I wonder if I would have ever learned what a Hurdy Gurdy is if I hadn't discovered Eluveitie all those years ago. I'd like to think so, since I have a soft spot for folk music

I am pretty new to hurry gurdy (thanks to your videos ;) ), and I still have some questions about the instrument.
1. Is it possible to change the tonality of the hurdy gurdy (What is it if not), or different ways to tune the strings? (Either the resonating, the trumpet , drone or melody strings)
2. Is it a chromatic or a diatonic scale instrument?
3. How do you change all the strings on the instrument?

Hi Joel! :) Hurdy gurdy can have either diatonic or chromatic keyboard, nowadays the chromatic ones are most popular. Changing the strings happens by loosening up the string with the tuning peg, then taking it off and putting a new string in its place. As someone who has just started out learning harp, IT IS NOTHING LIKE PIANO. DO NOT GO INTO IT THINKING PAST EXPERIENCE ON PIANO WILL TRANSFER TO HARP. IF ANYTHING THAT WILL MAKE IT HARDER!
But seriously do it, it’s a gorgeous instrument and unlike violin, it sounds pretty on day 1. You don’t have become good at it before it starts to sound good and not awkward and scratchy. 🥰

Very nice video Michalina. Matter of fact, I just bought my first hurdy, a simple model made by a luthier in the US, should be delivered anytime soon, in the future, I am planning to buy a better model, probably from your shop. I don't work with music but studied piano for almost 10 years, let's see if I can make good use of the hurdy :-)

Forgot to mention that I learned about the gurdy when researching about "that curious-looking instrument" I saw on a clip by a German band I like (FAUN) and then clicking on the videos suggested by YT I ended up finding your channel and learning that you also play with Eluveitie, a band I listen to since the Arcane Dominion CD. I might be a lazy fan, as I hardly ever remember the name of the band members of any band I like kkkkk
