I agree. If the government wants to shut everything down, everything should be placed on hold equally for tenants and landlords. Frankly, there should be no back owed on both sides since these institutions are making a fortune on the interest alone.
@Proud Beefeater lol... what a ridiculous response! A pandemic happened, and granted some are taking advantage! But still landlords shouldn’t purchase property or properties that they can’t afford! In California, the state or a non-profit agency have first right to purchase foreclosures. So nice neighborhoods will become government housing slums. Great job... Biden or Harris or Obama or whoever is pulling the strings.
Whats really sick is the banks get bail outs from the tax payer when things start to crumble, there is no "government money" it's the publics money, when they print vast amounts of it (like they've been doing of late) it's just a debt that that the public will have to pay back in the future through taxes and inflation, most of it ends up in the hands of the rich as corporations sell debt to governments driving the stock prices up, so investors in the stock market have effectively been skimming money from your tax payments. When people are desperate and scared they'll agree to almost anything, even things like monitoring and demands for producing papers to verify your medical records. We need separation of economy and state, I can tell you the answer right now, we need a decentralised money, a money that can't be printed by a handful of people, the answer is bitcoin. You're gonna have to learn about it yourself, you and only you can take steps to understand the economy and the ludicrous system by which its run and take counter measures to protect your freedom and your life
When the first stimulus package was passed, everyone who lost their job due to covid got an extra 600 every week until June. Did these people even bother to pay their rent? A lot of people just took advantage of the pandemic to not pay their rent even though they could pay it. Why would any landlord keep tenants with such malintent? It's one thing to lose your job, but not making any efforts to pay at least what you can, will stand against you in housing court.
That's actually not true. The additional 600 dollars determines on the state that you live in. In Texas, it was only 300 additional dollars, and it was very inconsistent. Some people got it, some people didn't my self included. My unemployment looked like this per pay period: 2,000-> 1800-> 1600-> 938->-800->600. As you can see the amount i received per pay period varied GREATLY, and each time, the amount I received got smaller and smaller. I only received the additional covid relief money for the first 3 payments. That's it. And as you can see none of those amounts are enough to pay rent. And I don't even have kids. I can't imagine if I had mouths to feed.

Five of our tenants had problems paying in 2020. Four of them applied for government assistance to make it through. We have one couple, though, who haven't paid more that $500 from February 2020 to February 2021. The taxes on the property are more than that. So basically, we are supporting this young couple. We will be forced to sell the property at some point, but you know the new owner will not be willing to provide free housing to this couple.
Landlords can also evict tenants claiming they want to live in the house themselves. The judge will grant that. A friend charged a lady $800 a month for a nice home. He could have charged a lot more. She did not pay for 8 months. Not one penny. She got a $9,000 back payment that she had been waiting on. She went out and bought a newer car. He evicted her. She did not show up so the sheriffs arrived to set all her stuff out on the streets. She had the money to get caught up but chose to buy another vehicle. Any back unemployment or government help should be going straight to the landlords. One landlord rented out the other side of his duplex and utilities were included. The couple didn't pay for over six months. The utilities got shut off. They threatened to sue. He told them, go ahead, they shut off mine too, you aren't paying rent. Realizing they had no foothold, they moved a few days later. He got a judgment against them for back rent and it went on their credit report. They wrote him a nasty letter that they can't get a home loan now because of the judgment. So, playing games bit them in the ass hard.

Plenty of homeless actually do work. Several of those homeless in my city of Charlotte have jobs and took lower paying jobs when they lost their jobs. Problem is, the pricing of housing is too expensive in most places. Add in the fact that finding another job takes a while and you’re evicted by then. Then you try to rent when you get another job, but you have an eviction on your record and no one wants to rent to you. Happens a lot. How about the damn government raises the federal minimum wage to a livable wage. Minimum wage is still $7.25 in NC and yes, many adults make that. You cannot survive on that money. Even working 40-50 a week.
My thoughts exactly! It's time for people to look into alternative lifestyles. Purchase a used camper, build out a van or bus. Some form of shelter is better than being completely homeless with absolutely no light at the end of the tunnel, right?
There is no filtering process to confirm if they are really in loss of a job, landlords also will end up losing money if they arent receiving rent, they still have to pay the water and electricity and trash bills, landlords can also end up with no property wich will end up where the tenant will be put out anyways. So there is a problem here, there isn't a filtering process to really know who can not be evicted, any tenant can stop paying rent, and no filtering if they really have a job or not.
It’s Americans. Let everyone live for free off of another. 🙄 Next they will squat in the homes and own them. Strange how people with no property to rent want others to allow people to live for free in theirs. Let the shoe be on the other foot! These landlords have bills too!!!!!! It was only after the New Deal that many white Americans were able to rise above their class (blacks were lockout). Rent control, a living minimum wage, low-cost college, public housing, the GI Bill, public control of utilities, etc were just some of the things that helped people get by. Lol! People have BEEN being evicted the whole time!! Evicted didn't stop where I'm at. Property Management and property owners will get their money or tenants are out. Moratorium is a joke.
This is good. If the government does not provide the rent to the landlords then evictions should be happening on a round the clock basis. People found out there was an eviction ban and stopped paying their rent. Show me the rented being evicted who went to the landlord and said look I lost my job etc and I can pay you half or 2/3 the rent and were evicted. Didn't happen. Most of these people stopped paying as soon as they heard eviction ban.

People, you really need to learn the laws so that you can write affidavits and file them yourselves!!!! When the governor of your state enters a moratorium, it’s like a executive order!!!! They are required to obey it!!!! If not, you can file a claim against them and win!!!! You can also enter a Injunctive Relief!!!!
Walt Lonsdale Then the Judge will be in violation of Judicial Canon law. Also, that’s a violation of separation of powers. Just like if the president gives a Executive Order that does not violate existing law(s), even the Supreme Court won’t overturn because it won’t be a judicial matter, only a political one. And being a political one, they’ll just say let the Executive Branch handle it. With state governors, same thing. When a Governor orders a rental eviction moratorium due to an emergency at no fault of the people, he/she are not violating law because what they’re doing are within the scope of law. In closing, it comes down how to apply the laws, knowing how the separation of powers, and doing so to ensure each individual within the three branches follow them.
In California, people can be evicted for certain issues, other than non-payment due to COVID. They can also be evicted for issues BEFORE March 2020. So evictions have been filed all year long. Now the valid ones are being addressed and judges ARE issuing evictions.

There is a serious moral decay in this country when money is more valued than life. While I empathize with landlords to a certain degree, to kick people to the street during a serious public health crisis is obscenely inhumane, a moral disconnect.
One great thing about this eviction problem, across the nation: SO MANY PEOPLE WHO USED TO look down on others for being evicted or homeless, never wondering if they could help or what happened; just judging and shaming others ARE NOW the ones experiencing the problem. But Many people who are now protesting never gave a d***. And now they get to enjoy the abusive housing practices that they let become the american standard.
Kids are home from school so who is going to watch them. Plus most African Americans have preexisting medical conditions. People should not have to choose between health and house.

He terminated lease due to non payment then filed a month later holdover tenant BUT he did so in retaliation as 2 days prior to him collecting rent for a month I asked about a Zoning violation..Ever since I asked he wouldn't accept rent but then sued for rent. We tried making arrangements after he put us behind but he'd never agree to anything.
As a landlord, I had a one year bank cushion in that account to pay mortgage and expenses. As a renter, I could have gone five or six years with no income and been fine. It's cool when the government can help people out, but as this shows there are always wrinkles and exceptions.
The renter just need to sign a piece of paper stating they can not pay their rent, and the landlord has to go through a paper maze while having to damn near beg their renter to put in paper work to help them get the rent money. So you get your income from other people and I'm betting you use that money to pay for other people to do any repairs. Do you actually do any work? If you got bills go get a job.

I agree. If the government wants to shut everything down, everything should be placed on hold equally for tenants and landlords. Frankly, there should be no back owed on both sides since these institutions are making a fortune on the interest alone.
Or landlords shouldn’t purchase properties... that they can’t afford to pay for.

I feel sorry for the renters but I also understand the landlords have to pay bills to and the bank will take the property if they don't pay their bills.
And the bank has far less empathy for the renter

Yea, and the bank can kick the renter out far swifter. Ridiculous how difficult it is for landlords comparatively.

Exactly... buying junk and not taking care of business 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️

Renters are protected by the federal moratorium yet landlords still have to pay mortgage, property taxes, provide heat and hit water etc.
Taking a lower paying job that keeps you off of the street is no shame.
12 million people will be homeless by the end of February.
Yeah but in this pandemic there just are no places open for business. I am wheelchair-bound and watched kids before and after school made sure they ate breakfast and did their homework. Many people are not working so they are home with their kids. I live in a rural area and there is not much else I can do because I am disabled
Lower paying jobs barely cover food and transportation. Have to have 2 or 3 and then have no time to care for the family or yourself.
My thoughts exactly! It's time for people to look into alternative lifestyles. Purchase a used camper, build out a van or bus. Some form of shelter is better than being completely homeless with absolutely no light at the end of the tunnel, right?
And I bet it won’t be foreigners.

Not necessarily. The courts may have a different opinion

Just like if the president gives a Executive Order that does not violate existing law(s), even the Supreme Court won’t overturn because it won’t be a judicial matter, only a political one. And being a political one, they’ll just say let the Executive Branch handle it.

When a Governor orders a rental eviction moratorium due to an emergency at no fault of the people, he/she are not violating law because what they’re doing are within the scope of law.

Been that way for a while. But it's hard for businesses to compete against Santa Claus. You should SEE the customer wait in many businesses due to an extreme shortage of employees.
Evicted and no money but u sure have ur hair and nails freshly done!!
A lot of women know how to braid their own hair, and some wear press on nails. That's not expensive at all when compared to going to a salon or nail tech.

Wait I get it. Landlords are like an extended version of parents (owe you something for nothing.) That sounds great! PS - I'm never becoming a landlord.
1:34 "she stopped working" enough said, thats her fault, get your as up and get a job
School went virtual she can't leave her kids home alone
And they wonder why Kaepernick wouldn't stand 4...
It sucks but you cant expect to be housed for free. You dont complain about walmart for not giving you free food when you cant afford it. Responsibility is all yours.
I wonder once these owner's loose the property will they evict the tenants that are still present and not paying.....
Govts and politicians all around the country have failed misserably everyone should get a stimulus check each month
No! Open the economy!
Walt Lonsdale that’s wishful thinking
Canada helps their people with financial means. How come the USA is not doing the same? So sad what has become of our country....😰
The renters need to get any kind of a job, and there's plenty out there.
Many restaurants are being forced to close because of a lack of interested workers.
Prayers up 🙏😟
Rent is so expensive one can barely pay rent let alone try to feed themselves, Houston rent is $1300 month and if you buy a house your property taxes alone are $500 all my clients take out all their money just to pay rent I would just live out of a van or camper
I feel for these people. I wonder though don't people have access to retirement accounts. I mean its not ideal to use them but damn I would rather touch retirement and the taxes that come with it versus being out on the street.
If they one they do have access
Home girl didn't want to work.... I'm single mother and c.n.a too.. no excuses
i had to also leave my apartment my landlords raise my rent i couldn't stay in my studio yes i staying with my sister inlaw i praying i get apartment again
There's millions of jobs our there. Everywhere you go there's job offerings.
Yup. And so long as the government hands out FREE CASH and tells tenants they don't have to pay rent, such jobs are gonna continue to be available.
Glad I’m not unwilling to work. Got a roof over my head
Normally I would agree with you but there are people willing to work but have no job to go to due to many circumstances of the pandemic ...that said many of these tenants are still working and did not pay because they thought they could get away with it
Do people not have family to help or let them stay a while? This is horrible. What about friends? We helped one of my daughters friends out and they didnt understand why we helped them.
Some people don't. Parents either not alive or not in a position to help.
Jackie, I have a huge family and they are old school. They don’t want to help even if they throw out their own kids. Not everyone is compassionate and it’s heartbreaking.
I wish I could help these people, it breaks my heart! I have literally been in this situation but I’ve been blessed to still have my husband working.. god bless to all of u who r facing these hard roads ahead...
I feel so bad for homeowners who have to put up w loser tenants and their “rights” what about landlords rights?
In commiefornia, landlords are bailing left & right due to the government shutting down their businesses. Oh, and you should see the outrageous rent prices.
So she quitts her job and thinks the landlord will be sugar daddy. That one is really on here. Landlords have mortgages and taxes on the hosues much less one's they live in.
How much you think it costs to get them nails done every other week?
Quite a bit
She got money for those nails. 🙄🙄
And those eyelashes 🙄
it's NOT a federal order. cdc has no legal right or constitutional right to issue an eviction moratorium. cdc is about as federal as the federal reserve which not federal nor has any reserves. and fyi landlords, u can evict if the lease is up on a 30 day notice.
This is what happens to some people when they took advantage of the no rent
Yes they had to pay all the months it was furloughed. Not smart planning when they knew it would need to be paid eventually. Being a single mom would even more so require panning. Can’t feel sorry for people who didn’t plan to fail but failed to plan.
Thought that was the stimulus checks were for.
I feel bad for both, yes we should have compassion, but no one ends up in this situation overnight. Like the Aesop tale of the ant, you have to be industrious and stack something for the future, delay gratification and think long term. Also commons sense, If you cannot afford kids, do not have them in this day and age.
Shut your judgemental ass up
True
What this have to do with her kids ? She was providing good for them until she had to leave her job .
We don't know what she stacked! We can't judge her or anybody else. When you're not working, it doesn't take long to go through your savings. And I'm sure the kids were here before the pandemic destroyed her life!🤨
She quit her job. Why?
Government sends out unemployment money, but they don’t pay landlord who can’t collect money and yet they still have to pay property tax and mortgage? How is this fair
The government should have put a hold on all mortgages for land owners as well as all rent and mortgage payments for renters who make under a certain amount. We bailed the banks out back in 2008. They can take a pause on collecting loans and loan fees during a freaking PANDEMIC!
You have to wonder where the CDC got this unconstitutional power...
The end of the year that in 3 more day what a joke
And where was our moratorium for home owners?
It's called an emergency fund.

My home was paid off in nine years so not owned by the bank and the only debt I ever had.
Apparently you have a mortgage and want a moratorium which says a lot.
Only thing I asked for and got a year ago was three months without pay because of my savings, emergency fund, and investments.
Speak for yourself next time.
Even my rental is paid off.
@@blackworldtraveler3711 I'm fucking delighted that your home is paid off. And yes I have a mortgage and also rental property as well. I don't expect a moratorium on my mortgage but it would have been nice seeing as the assholes in our rental are 9 months behind in rent. So excuse me for being a bit testy when I'm having to pay 2 mortgages so goddamn politicians can score brownie points by giving renters a break for the past year.
So sister stop working as a CNA now?when they are mostly needed😏

Justice in América is a joke
There is a serious moral decay in this country when money is more valued than life. While I empathize with landlords to a certain degree, to kick people to the street during a serious public health crisis is obscenely inhumane, a moral disconnect.
My rent coming in is my life, without it coming in I eat
No one wins
So they should Lose their house because of them? I say Kick them out to the curb
@@sebastian3004 and replace them with whom? Someone with money to pay?

I wonder how much Toi spent out of the rent money for her nails and hair???
Where is the Father of these kids and why isn't he helping?

You lost your job due to tyrant governments not covid
One great thing about this eviction problem, across the nation:
SO MANY PEOPLE WHO USED TO look down on others for being evicted or homeless, never wondering if they could help or what happened; just judging and shaming others ARE NOW the ones experiencing the problem.
Because people have been being unlawfully evicted and forced into homelessness... Or losing jobs and income unexpectedly or due to health reasons and being unfairly evicted.
But Many people who are now protesting never gave a d***. And now they get to enjoy the abusive housing practices that they let become the american standard.
Stop quitting your job people and pay your RENT!! ESPECIALLY if you have KID'S smdh
Kids are home from school so who is going to watch them. Plus most African Americans have preexisting medical conditions. People should not have to choose between health and house.

@@paulacastro5128 sounds like you shouldn't have kids
@@paulacastro5128 you need to figure it out. That’s not my job as a landlord or taxpayer
I have a HUGE STORY.....ITS out of Virginia but a pastor/ food bank owner/ landlord did this EXACT tactic.
The government need their azz kicked for making the process extremely difficult and you want the landlord to allow a renter to live rent free. Where is the renter proof that they can’t pay their rent.
You all need to save some money for a situation like this. Stop spending money on your nails and don’t have 3 kids unless you can afford it.
