FINALLY!!!!!After 42 years of knoŵing about this fìlm, and not SEEING IT, I have. Bruce's Stealing Fire period. I was all over it. Seen him a dozen times. Canadian visual arts: such shitty distr8bution that a delay like this is possible. Thank you!
Most of the way through watching...BUT I must stop and say this "This entire band on stage playing are totally amazing!!! "Geez. I am so impressed. MIND BLOWN over this entire video. Did I say thank you for sharing this??!! OMG🎶
I do not know how I ever missed this man! I am a big music lover. Really I am. Somehow I did not meet up with him until somewhat recently!!! Bruce Cockburn is just amazing!!!! I have been spending a lot of time catching up. I guess that I might contribute not knowing of him was because I am originally a New Yorker.. until I moved up to the Canadian border oh my...The Tragically Hip! But Bruce Cockburn it has also amazed me. Better late than never! I really have wanted a copy of this show. Thank you for posting♥️
I remember buying this on vhs in late eighties as an 18 or 19 year old only a few months after hearing Bruce for the first time ( if a tree falls). For the next 15 years he was all i listened to until i started to broaden my musical horizons. Still go back to him from time to time to reminisce. Living in Ireland i felt like i was the only irish person who had ever heard of him until he visited in the early 90's and i realised there were a few other lucky fellow countrymen.
this is a wonderful snapshot of that time. He was and is so very talented. This was the year I discovered his music. Creation Dream is still one of my favorites.
Mine too. Was at a concert back in 1990 here in southwestern Ontario, people were yelling out songs for Bruce to play. I'd had a few beers and yelled out Creation Dream and he played it! I'll never forget it. It was just Bruce and Jon Goldsmith, but it was so full sounding. Absolutely stellar!
I saw Bruce perform solo acoustic at Town Hall in NYC, some time in the late 1980s. He opened the show with Creation Dream, and it was amazing. I've looked for recordings of that show, or any other solo version of Creation Dream, but I have yet to find one. That song is one of my favorite Bruce Cockburn compositions.
There were two shows over two evenings at Danforth Music Hall in Toronto. I was at the first…..and this is my first time seeing the movie! Brilliant seeing it now and remembering.

thank you so much... saw this in a music store in the late 80's ... dithered about the cost and walked away.... returned a few days later detemined to buy it.. GONE!! Looked ever since for another copy 35 years later here it is...
Have wanted to see this for years, caught this tour in Raleigh NC back in 81-82, was blown away and been hooked on Bruce ever since, thanks so much for posting!! 🙏🏼❤️
This includes my absolute favorite version of Rumours of Glory... lovely to hear the uncut version towards the end where he really gets into the song. I can definitely understand why those vocals got cut and never ended up on any records... but so interesting to hear the song all the way through. How amazing it must have been to be there.
Fantastic! I'm so impressed by the fact that he was actively playing songs like The Trouble with Normal and Civilization and its Discontents a good year or so before they made their official appearance on the 1983 album. If Cockburn fans truly want a worthwhile project, find productions like this one, clean them up and release them for sale to us. To have a quality collection of concerts that span his career and take 'snapshots' of different periods to highlight his evolution. Record companies dither and fuss over compilations like the most recent 1970 to 2020 greatest hits for resale, but give us gem concerts like this and its an even better 'best of' compilation of a masterful musician.
Agreed except the selling part. I am trying to give them to you here for free. :-) Please don't buy or sell bootlegs. I will say that all of these uploads would have happened a long time ago if it weren't for copyright issues. Recently True North seems to have changed policy and allows these as long as they can run ads on them, which is fine with me and I would suspect that Bruce gets some of the royalties collected. I find the ads on youtube intolerable, youtube premium fixes that - and the catalog without ads is worth the money to me.....
@@fallriverroady-colorado I phrased that badly. I was hoping for True North to do the work and make it an official release. Maybe even get it crowd funded.
Greetings from New Zealand everyone and thanks for posting this concert. I had a copy years ago, loaned it out only to never see it again. Magical to see these songs being played live again.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I saw him for the first time in Banff, Alberta right about this time and have loved his music ever since. I am happy that there are Bruce shows here on YT.
I have been looking for this on TH-cam for over a decade. I remember watching it on First Choice (one of Canada's initial three pay-TV channels that launched in 1981) but never thought to tape it.
Saw BC at the old Orpheum Theater in Memphis Tennessee in May 1980. He opened for Warren Zevon. Both were on the cusp of national breakouts. It was one of the top 3 concerts I've seen in my life.
I've been lucky enough to see Bruce in concert five or six times. I got to see Warren in 2002 at the Calgary Folk Festival. This was one of his last performances befor3 passing in 2003. He really held the audience captivated that night. Very glad I was there.
Is it just me or is the guitar way too far down in the mix? There are times, especially during his solos, when it is almost impossible to hear his guitar playing. I love this video as a concept, but the mix could have been balanced.
I bought this on vhs when it first came out, i still have it to this day the plastic case it came in with the photo card insert
Man I love that song Coldest Night of the Year.

Not only a great lyricist but a fantastic guitarist! Really seriously mind blowing!
He is still out there on the concert scene. Catch him while you can❤

Correction, He IS so talented! Still making music today! 😎🎶
have never seen Bruce look so happy and singing so freely
Simply magnificent ❤
I was 31 in1981 Bruce and I are getting old together all my people are from Nova Scotia eh!
Incredible version of 'In the Falling Dark'.
That Kathryn Moses... she's a talent, isn't she? Blown away!
Agreed! I was so sad to find out that she recently passed away. A great loss to the music community.

I agree with you 100% - best version of Rumours of Glory ever. Glad you enjoyed the video. :-)
Sounds a lot like the version that's on Waiting for a Miracle. Not sure if it is or not though. Sounds pretty close.
@@brettservice640 Yessir. I believe it is the same... only slightly edited at the end.

Anyone know who that horn player is? She adds a lot to Cockburn's sound.

Have to admit that this is the tour when Cockburn lost me. He really wanted to be a rock and roller . . . and I didn't.
@CatAdvocate1 And of course, he's now come full circle. Saw his show in Seattle in 2019.
Too bad! He has done nothing but get better. I like all his music and followed him since the 70s.
Bruce Cockburn: like if Dire Straits had a f'ing point.
