good stuff. lol, those knick and piston teams were tough tough teams, and it always seemed the bulls had to go thru them. a piston - knick series was war... so many great names, love seeing these old clips, shaq and penny with the magic, the davis boys indianapolis, alonzo, larry johnson, karl malone, rodman, antione carr, barkley, mason, oakley, laimbeer, salley, these guys were enforcers, you're talking in the range of 6' 8"- 6-10" 240- 260lbs, john starks got called for more b.s. stuff than anyone i ever saw.
There were real rivalries in the past bec the NBA rules back then allowed players to play fiercely and physical on both ends of the floor. More than allowing handchecking and tolerating hard fouls, the rules back then gave offensive and defensive players equal opportunity to do what they had to within the rules of the game. On offense, players could dip the shoulders and use an off-arm to protect the ball as long as you don't extend your off-arm. Example, watch clips of Shaq-Mutombo in the Finals or Shaq-Zo or Shaq-Rodman games. Players were allowed to set solid picks as long as they didn't move. On defense, players were given the chance to defend their spot and use their arms and legs as long as you didn't grab, hold or trip your opponent. A bit like meshing soccer rules with basketball.
They have some pretty abysmal uniforms now, thanks to Nike and their putting 200 different uniforms on each team, so you can't even tell which teams are in a given game.

@@morecowbell235 He made 12 3s the whole season, nowhere near 1-2 per game. He made 13/27 2pt shots per game, which is insane for a 3rd year SG, and that's how you draw fouls, by being an unstoppable offensive force.
Listening to Isiah Thompson, I played Chicago west side ball with some of these guys, they had the same attitude back in eighth grade, The rule was .. No harm ,No Foul !

I agree. The older generation enjoyed it but if you wanna watch fights you could just watch fighting sports. People watch you play and especially kids and I don't want them to think that you can fight your opponents in a bball game. But it's just me
Outside shooting was terrible because the offensive player didn`t have every advantage on the defensive player in terms of how the rules were tilted and its the same thing today just in reverse. There`s zero post or low block game also because of the way the rules have changed and given such a big advantage to perimeter players. Entire skill sets have been lost and the game has gotten easier to play as a perimeter player. If a bit sad watching today`s game and seeing entire phase of the game just not being played.

The ONLY thing I might have an issue with, during those days, were the excessive flagrant fouls, which at times, were dangerous.
Most of these guys don't have the skills that players have today so they smacked each other around and threw elbows and fists.
