When I was a kid I thought being an adult meant going to clubs, consuming alcohol and driving fast cars, coming and going as I please. I was wrong. Being an adult is watching bearded men shave wood into selfbows while my three daughters and wife are asleep in bed next to me.

I've been in my 1 bedroom apartment lamenting not having more space or a proper workbench or a horse shave or other misc tools, but this is a great reminder that it doesn't take all that to make a bow happen. Appreciate all your thorough instructional vids, but this one was just so enjoyable and beautiful. Cheers!

I first bow was a long bow I made at a summer camp when I was a kid. Of course the limbs weren’t perfectly symmetric (under statement) but it was the beginning of my archery enthusiast years which I achieved an inherent skill to land my first rabbit, squirrel, deer and shoot at my first turkey (he jumped the arrow) and it went from there. My thanks to my mom and dad for making it all possible ❤️

I recently started building my first bow and since I don't have a draw knife i used my butcher knife and its amazing how versatile it is. It can be a draw knife,a scraper and a carving tool. I'm now starting the floor tillering process and the knife works but I know it would be much easier and faster with a draw knife or block plane.

I only started watching your channel recently, but boy was I surprised and confused to find this video, because I recently made my first bow with a knife as my only cutting tool, and it was that exact Old Hickory meat-cutting knife, down to the dirty blade, hah.

Hi, I'm tryieng to make my first bow; I have chosen Hazel as my first wood, because I have a lot around my village. I have a question: when I split the stave into 2 pieces (one bow/piece if I am lucky of course), do I have to seal the wood under the bark asap with some sealer or can I just leave the wood "nude"?
