What a great machine. Do you think you could make a special vid for me? I'd like to see you put one pair of jeans in it on the highest water level with no soap, and see how well that agitator moves it around. I've always prefered the ramp agitators in these machines. Thanks
I've had both and would agree that the Activator is vastly superior. The wash cycle was overfilled this load and the clothes were floating on top of the water so I am fairly certain that's what would happen in your scenario. Both my GEs have this agitator, unfortunately.
The 1990 is gone; I have the 1977 and a 1979 I picked up from an elderly lady that I have never tested. If I remember correctly, it has a white straight vane. It has a transitional control panel but is either the same model or is one higher than the '77. The ramp was in my '91 and my '92.
No; I have a 1977 FF, a 1979 FF and a 2016 Steam Duet. The Duet cleans better, uses a fraction of the water and the clothes are much drier when finished. The FilterFlos are good for dirty things I want to wash separately and they are great at lint removal. They are much more fun to watch and are virtually indestructible except for transmissions and rust.
The fact that this washer is still going strong after nearly 40 years is a testament to how well-built those older appliances were. My GE FF is an early 80's model, and I noticed the blades on the agitator are curved instead of straight like on your model. Is that supposed to improve the way the clothes are dispersed throughout the machine during a cycle?
kelly savage there was so much water the clothes floated in the tub haha. it was set and I didn't turn it to Reset so the wash was too high, the rinse too low. it's a science I suppose.
Now that's a real washer!
Hi Jerome yes great machine my neighbor and both of my aunts had this machine back in the day.
The only washer that reminds me of the GE filter-flo is the Whirlpool direct drive due to that gear oil smell.@@Bob-ml1mv
@@jeromedavis8575 it took me quite awhile to get used to the direct drive machine after having a belt machine that also had a transmission
I've noticed that the GE filter-flo and the whirlpool direct drive gear oils smell identical.@@Bob-ml1mv
@@jeromedavis8575 great call . I haven’t noticed that wow 😎 cool

your 1990 machine has this agitator too? I didn't think the made them that recent. How many machines do you have all together?

do u have either the 91 or 92 or not? What is the frontloader that you have? Which do you prefer the top or front load?

Where is the rest of the water for the load?
Also had to add that, is it me, or is it kind of therapeutic to listen to the water flowing as it fills the machine?
RJC 72 it is very therapeutic.
