As he was declared legally blind and couldn't drive a car, Straight decided to drive his John Deere tractor from Iowa to Wisconsin to visit his brother. It took him six weeks to make it. Richard Farnsworth received an Oscar nomination for his tremendous performance as Alvin Straight.
