      It really is!! attempting to grow a little length but we shall see if it looks to thin at the ends if I do that!

    Good morning Amanda, it's 9.03am here in southern Australia. The first time I grew my hair out a few years ago I let it grow for a few months before getting it all cut off into a really short pixie.
    And then it happened. After growing my white/silver hair to almost shoulder length I was silly and gave in to constant family nagging and re-coloured it a very dark brown and I hated it so now I'm repeating the whole process again. I've just had my almost shoulder length dark hair cut off into another pixie style leaving about 3 inches of silver regrowth and 3 inches of dark hair on top.
    My best advice is to NEVER give in to or listen to anyone who tells you to dye your hair after growing it out....NEVER!

      That’s is great advice!!! If you love it or want to do it, your opinion is the only one that matters!! I love that you commented all the way from Australia!!!

      I love this advise. My family is the opposite they got mad that I re-dyed after a few months. I only use semi permanent color so its no biggie.

    I just grew it out, not out of boldness, but out of low budget. LOL The only thing I did was the hair-dye strip technique for the first two months. However, I have wavy hair and that's an advantage because my demarcation line didn't look so harsh. Time flew and didn't think much about it. I'm almost at the 9-month mark and very happy with it.

    I hear you about the short, old lady gray hair! I’m a therapist in a nursing home so I’m looking at gray heads all day long.😂 I think I would have started this journey a few years ago had I worked in another environment.

      That makes a lot of sense!! If you only see it in much older population it's harder to see it on yourself!!

      I started growing out my hair when I turned 48 because I wanted to be done by the time I was 50. I did it cold turkey, but it wasn’t as hard because my hair isn’t all grey, so it wasn’t as noticeable (although I know people noticed). I just as finished in around 21 months but did wind up cutting my hair a little shorter than it had been before I stopped dying, and I haven’t been able to grow the length back because I keep getting bad haircuts that have to be corrected. It’s been two years now that I’ve been all my natural color. I’m almost 52.

    Good evening from Germany 😉
    Im 15 months in and its not easy. But to see every 2/3 weeks the white roots on my temples is not easy too. I didnt realize before that it would take such a long time to grow it out. No chemicals and burning means much to me.
    Thanks a lot for your support, that you share your thoughts with us!
    Have a nice weekend *👋

    I'm 4 months in. I had one highlights blending session a few months ago. It was not helpful as the stylist just didn't get it. So I've been going cold turkey. My only saving grace is my hairs curly. So some of the grays are hidden . I'm so looking forward to all gray❤

    I'm 10 Months Into Lettin My Hair Go Gray. {I'm 64} There's MAYBE 3 Inches Of Gray/Silver. The Rest Is Black {Dyed Black} My Hair Was Down Past My Waist. I've Got COPD AND I'm On Oxygen. So My Hair Was Gettin Too Much And Too Hard To Wash. I Cut About 3 Inches Off About 10 Days Ago. I LOVED My Long Hair, But It's Easier To Take Care Of Now That It's Only To The Middle Of My Back. I MAY Cut It Shorter, But Only Maybe Another Inch.
    I'm LOVIN The Gray!!!

    I'm six months into my journey and I'm thinking of stopping. Maybe the lightening up my dark brown hair might help. I've also thought of highlights. I've never colored all over only my roots for the past 5 years or so. I like the silver but I only have about 3 inches at the root and the rest is such a contrast. Thanks for your advice.

      I am also doing it cold turkey, though i admit i heavily considered getting it blended. But my hair is so happy and healthy without the dyes i just didn't want to put it through anymore. Thus, i too, am sporting the lovely skunk look for awhile. I'm 4 months out... i think i have about 2 more months where it looks really bad (i'm figuring somewhere between 6 and 8 it should be better). But again my hair is so healthy right now that i just don't care that much about the skunk line. I haven't had to have this level of patience since my youngest was a little thing (she's 30 now). 😂 SO fyi you're not alone in sporting that skunk look! LOL I agree with Amanda - you go girl!!

      @@candyh3693 it really is amazing how healthy your hair becomes… I thought grey hair was going to be dry and course but mine is so soft! I do use hair oils that helps too!

    • @candyh3693
      @candyh3693 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@amandasilversister Same, because i also saw those dry coarse hairs but turns out they're from the chemicals on my hair, not because of the grays (seriously, who knew?! LOL). I have changed my shampoos, alternating between blue (to keep the brassy away) and clarifying (to fade the dark brown color) for now while it grows out but kept my argon oil conditioner and that seems to do the trick, i'll change to something else once it's grown out (eg: other shampoo w/purple as needed but probably keep my conditioner) i also occasionally use extra leave in conditioner (Biolage) because i do use heat products. But yes! My hair feels fantastic!

    I'm doing this now & I'm only 3 months in & have natural black hair with grey throughout. I can't stand the demarcation line, it is so stark. In all honesty I think it is very unattractive & looks unkempt. If I could just bleach out the box dye & go silver /platinum just around the crown I would feel more comfortable.

    • @amandasilversister
      @amandasilversister  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think that is the hardest part!! That’s why I did grey blending!! With black hair it would be harder!! Are you in IG? If so follow as many silversisters as you can for inspiration!!!
