    It was an awesome meet. I like UTAH, but definitely felt some of the beam routines were overscored. I felt Norah Flately’s beam should have been more than 9.825. Kyla should have gotten a 10 on beam! Some of those 9.975s on floor could have been a 10. As much as UTAH was overscored on beam, OU judges still get the icing for the worse.

    NCAA Gymnastics needs to do something about judging. It’s way too inconsistent. Yes it’s obvious mostly subjective, but judges are over scoring routines with numerous visible deductions and underscoring routines that are as close to flawless as a gymnast can get.

    I'm pretty sure Simon Biles was strongly committed UCLA & only UCLA in 2016 . Then decided to continue as an Olympian. Imagine how much protest there wold have been by other schools, had she chosen UCLA. I could just hear the other schools saying, "She wasn't that great". Plus, "That's why she chose the Bruins". "They always get over scored at Home."There is so much hate for Cali from people in the other states. I'll just cool off, and go Surfing between the jetties right now in the Sun.

    • @LetsWasteTimeHere
      @LetsWasteTimeHere 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Simone Biles might still end up going to UCLA when retiring from elite gymnastics. It wouldn't have mattered if she'd chosen to attend after 2016 or if she will do so in the future. Fact is: because she has chosen to go professional, she is no longer eligible to compete in NCAA. The rules do not allow any professional (former or current) athletes to partake in any NCAA sports.

      If you watch some of the UCLA gymnastics interviews, someone says (I believe Coach Val or Jordyn when they were there last year) that Kyla isn’t the most comfortable with choreography so that’s why performances such as floor may be a little “stiff.” But if you compare her performances throughout these 4 years, she’s improved so much and actually looks like she enjoys it :)

      @@ahazzy2314 I actually think Kyla danced better in 2017 and 2018 than she did in 2019 or 2020. It is good choreography but it feels like she is forcing the moves out. It almost looks like her body is uncomfortable with the choreography. I can't help but feel her dancing to be awkward here.

      nerdwriterfighter I prefer her 2018 choreo as well! I’m just saying that no matter what Kyla is not always the most comfortable with her floor routines because dance isn’t her thing! Am I the only one annoyed and distracted every time the teammates copy the dance routines? I also find it quite disrespectful to be honest... If I’m the gymnast I would ask them to stop this coz it’s distracting not just the one actually executing the routine but also the judges (the audience too but they don’t matter in the scoring)...

      Well she does a whip back into the double tuck. That's harder than just a back handspring. And she's always up at the end after some huge numbers. So if she's close to perfect she deserves the 10. Her routine is still out of 10 tho so i dont get what you mean. And I don't believe she's gotten a ten on floor this year yet? But I agree Utah deserved the win.

      utah was definitely overscored. there were many clear deductions in their bar and beam routines, and were still scored surprisingly high. ucla was judged fair, even maybe underscored, but that doesn’t take away the fact that utah was clearly overscored.
