I had a Sokoke. I've owned a lot of cats and they've all been my best friends, but I never had a cat as special and magnificent as my Sokoke boy. Their sleek athletic frames, pointy faces and ears, beautiful marbled short coats with very distinctive rings, and their personalities which are amazing. They love to play and more importantly love to be loved. I miss my boy, he died young from an unknown illness, but I'll never forget him. They're a rare breed and you're very lucky if you own one.
A cat adopted us, a tiny little female kitten. We knew she was very different, you described her perfectly. She came from the forested area here in NC, a wild skittish little creature that would show up in our breezeway in the mornings when my wife and I would read our devotional and drink a cup of coffee. She loves cream, and I was able to pick her up and bathe her to remove some fleas and take her to the vet. We cleaned up an ear mite problem and now she’s an indoor / outdoor cat that loves to play outside. At night she wants to go to her crate to sleep. Bright and early she comes in to eat then plays outside all day. Beautiful and intelligent creature and very loving.
I have been blessed with a Sokoke Cat. In mid winter several years ago he came into our house through a doggie door. He was just a kitten no more than 6 weeks old. He was dirty, hungry, and cold. At that time I thought be might be a Bengal Cat due to his behavior and markings. While researching what kind of cat he might be I stumbled across Sokoke Cats. He has identical markings, colorations, and behavior as the Sokoke.
Welcome Kennethleblanc !! We wish we were half as lucky as you! Owning a Sokoke is a privilege that not many can claim.... Even more considering he has chosen you. We would love to know more about this charming lucky guy. What's his name? How is it living with a Sokoke? Did you find our video accurate according to the breed?
@ABC_animal_kingdom we named our Sokoke Cat NUUMU WA¿OO which means Comanche Cat in the Comanche Language. He has many of the same behaviors as a Bengal Cat. He is extremely loyal. This cat picked me to be his human. He stays with me constantly. This includes going to the bathroom, sleeping with me, and perching himself on my shoulder when I drive. He is extremely active and super athletic. He can jump at least 3 times his body length. He is so quick at times that it like having 2 cats. He has well over 100 vocalizations and is very chatty. He loves to sit in high places and watch everything. His situational awareness is extreme. He always knows his exact location and where everything is relative to that location. He is very prey oriented and is a great hunter. He loves to play, and his teeth and claws are exceptionally sharp. This leads to many scabs. However, he has never been aggressive with me or my wife. He also loves to primp. I've never had a cat that looks after their appearance like this cat. He is definitely has a alpha personality and is first at the food bowl. Much to the shagrine of our dog. In all, he is a wonderful companion. I would not call him my pet. He is much more than that.
Oh my god... My respects and a little bit of jealousy Jokes aside, keep taking care of that FANTASTIC feline, you have been blessed with his company. Thank you very much for taking the time to tell us everything about NUUMU WA¿OO
@@ABC_animal_kingdomMy husband and I live one hour north of Los Angeles in the high desert. A year ago August I saw a cat looking at me from the screen-covered crawlspace under our house. It took a month of generating feeding, watering and taking to this very skinny, LONG-LEGGED cat. Once she gently stroked my hand, that was it. Clarisse, our precious Sokoke, we now know her breed, thanks to YOU! She does have some white on her tummy, feet and one leg, but the other 95% of her has the classic markings of your description. How she must have been dumped in the desert, or left behind, I don't know, but I have also seen another one with a white face! Would love to befriend it, but it still very skittish. Clarisse is very smart, a great mouser, catches gophers outside, and is EXTREMELY fast (we are on 5 acres). The amazing thing about her: she comes to me when I call her. She is very loyal, like a dog. Never leaves my side except to sit in a window just before bed. When the lights go out, she jumps on the bed and enjoys sleeping between my knees(a personal hammock, lol). God brought her to me after losing my tuxedo kitty of 21 years, me full of grief and withdrawals. What a blessing Sokoke Clarisse is. And thank you for your informative video! ❤❤❤
My Xena lived to 17 years of age. High energy and incredibly smart. She noticed anything new in a room immediately and was all over it. A great climber and fearless. Not really a lap cat but did like to tuck in next to me on my chair in the evenings. She kept me running every day. Xena was the cat equivalent of a Border Collie. She thrived on lots of attention, play, and exercise. And love.
I have a Sokoke. I live in the Appalachian mountains of Virginia. I got her at my local animal shelter. I have always known that Rain is unique. She is beautiful, intelligent and so very sweet. She is never boring or bored, that's for sure! And she absolutely loves to greet visitors at our door.❤
We searched for something about our cat since he was unusual. Finally one day I come across this video about Sokoke. Wow. He looked undeniably similar and had every single trait. One site said he's not a Sakoke if don't know his parentage. But this explains without doubt explains his oddities. We live in South Carolina. His mother had her kittens on our neighbors porch.
So I have a boy named Meeko . He looks just like These guys but he’s a little More of a silver base with the blotched pattern . So beautiful my big boy !! He has so many of the same characteristics!!!
